a thanks do cuz You send me all of those great pages of hurricane images with histerical tag lines, but I had nothing to give back.

It's payback, and this time, it's personal.

A user on a weather message board sent me a link for satellite images, round the clock, since 1983!!!! That's right. Diana? Right here. Klaus? Here!. How about Lili from 1984? You got it!.

LOL, I was hoping you would like it. Yea, I cropped the images, but where else are you going to find some of those images? I felt as excited as you are right now when I first saw that. Unfortunately, there are times when you can't get the entire Atlanic Ocean, or another area doesn't show up, but this is still the best thing we have so far for day to day information. Don't worry, I only take images from websites that end in .gov or .mil. I'll admit, some of your images were tempting to quickly add in (mainly 1995), but I figured because it was your private collection, you might not want it. However, are you still opposed to the pics for every storm? What would you rather have? A pic for every available storm, or an article for every storm? I will leave them in the season talk pages for now for seasons before 2000 until we reach a consensus. Just a heads up, some people, like CrazyC83, wants to have a storm for every article back to 1995 as a long term project. Be prepared for an argument if and when that ever comes up some place. Thank you! I couldn't well do it myself, as there was no consensus than. I have the same bad feeling about the user. He (she/it) will probably revert every time we redirect it, and make more pointless articles. The only good part is the fact he is technically using proper format (infobox, layout, everything but categories and atrocious writing). Ok, let's face it. You suck. Or is that blow, since you're addicted to hurricanes? Just kidding :) Anyways, I got curious about you and adminship after a comment you made on the RfA talk page. I know you've had a prior RfA, and reviewed that vs. your overall contributions. Virtually all of the oppose/neutral comments on your failed RfA had to do with a lack of participation in the Wikipedia and WP Talk namespaces. Looking at your overall contributions, your participation in that area is now 6% of your total edits (173 edits of 2898 total). I think the critics on this point would be satisfied now. Also, you have 52 edits to AfD pages and 64 reverts. However, some people may raise concerns about your use of edit summaries. Over the last 500 edits, it's just 43%. Ouch. In the main namespace, it's 61% overall. Still a bit low. It's been just over two months since your last RfA. Merging

Merging doesn't just mean deleting. In the case of Tropical Storm Odette (2003), it means merging all of the useful information back into the season article. For older storms the storm history should be merged too, since it takes lots of research to write those things, but for new storms the TCR is plenty. Jdorje 05:25, 8 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

(sigh) you have to know 3 things:

• Green Day has 3 main members: Billie Joe Armstrong-songwriter, lead vocals, and lead guitar; Mike Dirnt-bass, back-up vocals, and is second choice for me; and Tré Cool-the drummer.

• Coldplay-do you like their song, "Speed of Sound" (the video, too?)

• Backstreet Boys-They are awesome! I love them! And they're ba-ack! Their album, Never Gone, was released June 14th of 2005. Consisting of AJ McLean (28), Nick Carter (25), Kevin Richardson (34), Brian Littrell (30), and Howie Dorough (32), they melt the hearts of fans everywhere in every country.

You're still kidding!

This is crazy! I like jazz! I mean, come on! My favorite song is by Duke Ellington, "Take the A-Train." (Is that how you spell it?) It's really mellow and calming. But why hate pop/rock/R&B? It's not as depressing as punk and Goth. It also sometimes matches my mood. However, Simple Plan is awesome. It's like they are transforming my emotions into hit songs, like "Perfect", "Addicted", and "Welcome to My Life." However, I seem to be addicted to Linkin Park's "Numb." It matches my personality: Moaning about the fact that everyone here (where I am) is picking on me, yet still feeling a little happy. But I love "Holiday", and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", which also makes me feel better. In fact, other than the Backstreet Boys, Green Day is my inspiration to create or join up with a band. But Nickelback's "Photograph" sounds like hearing 7 of my 10 crushes say that they love me and want to date me.

However, being a Wikipedian administrator sounds like fun as well. I hope I get nominated!

whoa! dude! Listen. first of all, the BSB aren't fake. they contribute to their albums too. Second, 2 Boys came from Florida, 2 came from Kentucky, and one was born in New York but moved to Florida. So don't say that they over-enunciate! It's their accent (maybe) like my accent changes how i talk. (Yes, my state has its own accent.) Third, most of the BSB's music is not sappy. It's about love. It's either they are married and still looking for a girl, or they had a divorce their wives. But still, have you actually listened to their new songs yet? They became a tiny bit sappy but they're still awesome! Fourth, punk is sort of depressing. In fact, Goth expert and musician Voltaire on voltaire.net said in a Big Story News thingy that punk basically says "I hate this world and I want to destroy it." (Goth says, "there's too much evil in this world, there are mean-spirited people, and that makes me sad.  :( ")

The BSB do NOT lack emotional power. They put it to use. They have heart (one of them had open-heart surgery at one time to correct a defect). They have love, and their love goes to not only the people who work with them, their family and their friends, but also to the fans. They also never lip sync!

It's not that i didn't give punk a chance, it's just I sometimes listen to it. But right now, I'm looking for Sound the Alarm's album. You wanna know who they are? They are a band that graduated from my school! They do some punk, and, boy, they are so hot!

I did not know that Green Day's music originated from British Punk! What other info do you have on them.

But, the BSB did not pay a cheezy rappa to rap in We've Got It Goin' on, Let's have a Party, and Get Down (you're the one for me). That was AJ McLean, and sometimes Kevvy Richardson doin' it themselves. In fact, it makes them hotter!

2005 AHS

Hey, let us talk about our conflicting ideals for the 2005 AHS.

First of all, what exactly do you find lacking in the current format? I thought you agreed that 3 sentences was enough coverage for Arlene...and I think the whole storms section is consistent with that. The storms section has one paragraph per storm, just like old seasons. The only difference is it doesn't have a separate subsection for each storm - we could add that in, but (just because it's 2005) this doesn't really help readers to find what they're looking for because there are just so many storms. Plus it makes the ToC really ugly.

Then there's the impact section. I know you think the storms section should cover this - and I agree with you. But I still think there should be a separate section that covers just the destruction the season has caused. Nowhere in the storms section will you find that 89 people were killed in Haiti, for instance. In a normal season all this could all fit into the intro or a short summary section, but again, this is 2005.

As for the economic impact section...I don't entirely like this section myself. I didn't add it: I just slapped a section heading onto a paragraph that already existed in the season summary.

So my question is: is there any way you can be satisfied with the season article without having it be longer than 40k? And if so, how can it be done?

Ok, good points.

• Storms subsections. The ugliness with the ToC was that it was over a full page long. This inspired people to want to replace it every few weeks, and is the main cause for the button bar madness. At the same time, you're right that without subsections it's hard to find storms. I did add anchors to each storm, so that 2005 Atlantic hurricane season#Hurricane Katrina goes to where you'd expect it. Perhaps we can make a manual ToC for the storms - comparable to the box that has somehow found its way into the top of the storms section, but less pastel-ugly.
• Storms section. What flavor are you talking about exactly? I'm all in favor of adding stuff that adds to the continuity of the story. The old storms section had very little of this as it was mostly a collection of numbers.
• Impact. I agree an impact sub-page could be useful, and that the economic impact can be merged in with the rest. Not quite sure how to go about it though.
• Records section. There is a records sub-page. The main thing I moved there, and the only thing I'm adamant about keeping, is the long-list-of-storms-that-broke-the-earliest-formation-record. It is enough to say that almost every storm set such a record. Everything I moved off of this section went into the statistics sub-page. I'm not sure where the records sub-page came from, or if it has any purpose. But then the statistics subpage is also pretty bad. Other things I moved into the statistics page include the "number of storms" and "total activity" sections (both of which are redundant with the much shorter "number of storms" paragraph that is there now), and the "other records" section (which should not exist at all IMO, since nobody can even say what it means).
• Images: I agree more images are good. But remember images need accompanying text, and IMO the main article should stay less than 40k in length (when I finished the revised storms it was at ~38k...but has now grown to 40k). So there is a limit to how many images we can cram in.

• Length: Length is crucial. If we have 100k of text, we should condense it into a 35k article with sub-articles covering each point in more detail. Having an article that is too long to read straight through without losing interest is bad.
• Images: Not sure what you mean here. Are you talking about the current storms page? Sure, we can change the pictures around there. For the main page, we can add or switch around pictures (the storms section has all meteorological pictures, though it certainly has no pictures of depressions) but the space is limited.
• Records, I'm not sure which ones I removed that you think should be there, but I have no problem with adding more in. Better would be to remove-and-replace as a lot of records may already be mentioned up above.

There's no need to make things personal, Eric. Part of the Wikipedia process is having to learn to work with new editors all the time. Sometimes they agree with our views, sometimes they don't, but at the end of the day, everyone is here to work on the encyclopedia and to improve it. Harsh comments directed at other editors don't help. I've been amazed at the level of civility and productivity that surrounds the Hurricane pages; it is probably what got me interested in Wikipedia in the first place. Everyone has different views on how to do things, and they should be respected, as well as they should respect your views. Gamma

So let me get this right. The report on Gamma stated that when it was a tropical depression still in the Eastern Caribbean and for a brief moment became Gamma. But then the storm slowly weakened then almost dissipated and floated slowly westward. Then it is possible that the low absorb Gamma and not the other way around so this storm couldn't have been TS 27?? tdwuhs

Condescending

Chill out, man! No criticism of any writing should be taken as a personal attack. All of our writing can be improved. In particular, a lot of the older hurricane articles (by all of us - myself included) is written to a lower standard and needs a lot of work. This was most evident in the older AHS articles which were tiny ill-written stubs before you guys went back through and improved them. The simple fact is that we've gotten better as writers - when I go back and look at stuff I wrote a long time ago, I cringe.
