Sokoband refs

The band's Allmusic article was until their old name, "Soko". That's why you missed it. The band's own site is just a "temporary" reference. This page on the band's site has some third-party links. Some are unreliable sources like blogs, but there's also reviews by Relix and radio station WLUR-FM. A1 and A3

You really need to be a lot more careful with those criteria. {{Db-nocontent}} is for articles that have absolutely nothing. For example, if I were to create an article on myself (other issues, like my unambiguous lack of notability, aside) and the entire content was something like "Harry Mitchell", that would be a good A3 candidate. A1 is for articles that leave you thinking "what the f*ck is this about". "Harry Mitchell is great" (while obviously true ;) ) would be begging for an A1 tag. If you can deduce from titles, infoboxes, categories or anything else, what the subject is, it's not eligible under A1 or A3, though that doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't meet other criteria. Also, in cases like these Commonwealth Games event articles, consider whether there's something other than deletion (for example, redirecting, as I've done) that would solve the problem. Next time you come across a page that claims its subject is a murder, please use G10, not G3. This places it in a high-priority queue for immediate deletion as an attack page and blanks it (if you're using Twinkle) so it doesn't get picked up by search engines. U2 Live at Red Rocks - FA nomination?

Do you think it's time to nominate U2 Live at Red Rocks: Under a Blood Red Sky as a Featured Article? I think we've pretty much done everything we can for that article and there's not much more improvement that can be made. Y2Kcrazyjoker4 (talk • contributions) 20:27, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

I think it's almost there, but getting articles to FA-class is becoming more and more tough nowadays. I mean, if there is one flaw with the article, it will get shot down (see FA noms for U2 3D, Achtung Baby, and Slug). I think we should do a peer review and a copy edit before doing anything else. I ran the peer review script and here is the following output I got:

That output seems pretty standard. The lead looks to be perfectly appropriate for an article of the length we have. I can't find any discrepancies in British/American English (the bot merely auto-detects which variation is primarily used and then "warns" you). The contraction is part of an album title. And the last suggestion is also pretty standard. I've copyedited the article several times and I can't find any glaring issues with it. I'm not sure a peer review would be of much benefit, but if you think that we should, then you can request one. Y2Kcrazyjoker4 (talk • contributions) 00:11, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

I think the Sarajevo concert article is pretty close too. And if anyone wants to nominate Slug for a second FAC, I certainly won't object; I think it deserves it. It might be easier to defend with two or more users as opposed to just one. Melicans (talk, contributions) 02:31, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

Your edits to Template:City Hall (IRT Lexington Avenue Line)

I see that you altered several icons, which you said were obsolete.

As the template now stands, it portrays four flat crossovers between the north–south and east–west tracks. In fact, the east–west tracks tunnel underneath the north–south ones. Are you saying that we no longer have icons capable of portraying it that way? Marc Shepherd (talk) 21:38, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

Those icons have been rendered obsolete as "there are no bridges below surface", according to the image's description page. I replaced it with the new icon, as it says to do so on the page. The category page says to avoid using any of those icons. Do you have access to old newspaper/magazine articles?

I'm trying to access some old reviews of U2 albums from the early 80s, but the information is rather difficult to come by without archival access (e.g. Washington Post, LA Times, etc). Please take the time to read the guideline carefully

I wish that you not attack my motives, and simply read the guideline carefully. Determining whether an article gets a song has a simple process, per WP:NSONGS:

• First test: All articles on albums, singles or songs must meet the basic criteria at the notability guidelines, with significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject.

I agree that the article we are arguing pass the first test.

• Second test: Songs that have been ranked on national or significant music charts, that have won significant awards or honors or that have been independently released as a recording by several notable artists, bands or groups are probably notable.

• Third test: a separate article on a song is only appropriate when there is enough verifiable material to warrant a reasonably detailed article; articles unlikely ever to grow beyond stubs should be merged to articles about an artist or album.

I'll agree that the articles in question pass the third test, but they failed the second. It doesn't matter how detailed of an article can be written if it shouldn't have been written at all.—Kww(talk) 02:47, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

I don't know where you got "test" from. These are not tests to determine whether or not an article is notable. There are merely guidelines that may make an article notable, but it does not need to fulfill all the above. It does not state that an article must have won an award, been on a chart, or been covered by another artists. It simply says that songs that have had one of those things are probably notable. No nothing came of it from what you see in the post. I started a discussion of adding a new feature and it turned into a discussion of whether or not the template should be blocked. It was a total violation of WP:POINT since they other editors were trying to tell me I should have never edited the template in the first place, as opposed to discussing the feature I proposed. I got frustrated and gave up, especially since the few people who contributed to the discussed seemed to be against the idea anyway. I'm glad someone else thinks it would be a good idea, so I say go ahead and bring it up again. –Dream out loud (talk) 21:37, 27 February 2011 (UTC)

Laserblast

So I was thinking the E.T. stuff in Laserblast -- the info about it inspiring Carlo Rambaldi's design, and the lawsuit -- perhaps should be mentioned in the lede of the article. What do you think? Also, have you found any other source besides this Band interview saying that E.T. was inspired by Laserblast? Because if not, I'm thinking perhaps we should put attribute this directly to Band in the prose; something like, "Band said the stop motion alien characters inspired animator Carlo Rambaldi's design..." etc. etc. Band could be wrong on this one, or he could be right, but if it's attributed to him directly in the prose, that will allow the reader to interpret it themselves and draw their own conclusions. My rule of thumb is that information should only be included in the lead if it is further elaborated upon later in the article. As far as the film inspiring Rambaldi's design (and a following lawsuit), there isn't too much else said about it in the article. It's basically covered in three sentences: the film inspired E.T., there was a lawsuit, the lawsuit was dropped. So unless more information can be found about it, I'd leave it out of the lead for now. I haven't been able to find another source about it anywhere, but I'd like to find some other information. (That Italian magazine article Band mentioned would be nice, but I wouldn't even know where to start if I wanted to find something like that.) –Dream out loud (talk) 22:05, 7 April 2011 (UTC)

Hi. I noticed you moved Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Elementary School Musical to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Elementary School Musical (South Park) and requested speedy deletion of the redirect, and I really don't understand why. Whatever has happened to the related article since, that page is an archived AfD discussion from 2008, and we do not alter or move archived old discussions (for one thing, such an action would lose the discussion from the daily log at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2008 November 14). I proposed it be moved because the page itself was moved and replaced with another page that also had an AfD. So Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Elementary School Musical and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Elementary School Musical (2nd nomination) are actually for two different articles. The former is for the South Park episode and the latter is for the disambiguation page. So technically, it's the only first nomination for the disambiguation page, not the second. The way it is now just creates confusion for archives. But if you just want to leave it the way it is and confuse other editors in the future, I guess it's fine the way it is. –Dream out loud (talk) 20:19, 29 April 2011 (UTC)

Hi. Many articles get moved, merged, deleted, recreated, etc in the months and years following an AfD, and we don't keep rewriting history to match - anyone wanting to revisit an old AfD would always need to go to the article revision history and extract the version from the appropriate time anyway. SEPTA Regional Rail

Just so you know, an editor has undone all your edits at SEPTA Regional Rail. As far as I'm concerned, your edits were quite appropriate, as they're were far too extensive quotes being used for shock value and, frankly, soapboxing.

It's been difficult to maintain NPOV there, as there seems to be a small group that's intent on using it to knock the agency. (At least I think it's a group. May be some SPAs here.) I do know that at least one of them is abusive, having vandalized my user page (while logged out), and putting a level four vandalism warning on my talk page. (His ridiculous response to the ANI case I filed was funny as hell.) So, in short, revert away. I would, by the next thing you know they'll accuse me of using SPAs (which would be ridiculously rich). oknazevad (talk) 21:57, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

It looks like you already took care reverting, so you saved me the trouble. I just hope we don't get into an edit war here. I'm not familiar with the editor who made the edits, but I find it interesting that they didn't edit for almost three months, then came back and have only really made edits to the SEPTA Regional Rail article.
