The Thing

Greetings. Unfortunately I do have a source for the dog at the end it is my own original research. I saw The Thing in its original theatrical release in '82 and saw it again a few days ago on Netflix. On the talk page there was a discussion of the issue [1]. I don't happen to agree with it. If I had to guess there were multiple cuts released in 1982. I've run into things like this before for other films. I saw Star Wars in previews in 1977 and the final theatrical release had slight differences. I'll look for a source for the dog.--Wlmg (talk) 00:14, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the clarification. Carpenter probably did have a few alternate endings. Here's the link to you youtube I questioned http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Xu2cFljkPw. Go to 3 min 23 seconds and watch the alternate ending. The camera work seems amateurish compared to the rest of the film. It doesn't make sense that MacReady or Childs (assuming that one or both were Things) would revert to a dog then run into the tundra at the onset of winter. Maybe that's why it was cut? Anyway, if you find a source, that would be great. I would be interested to hear about the different versions.Docob5 (talk) 01:28, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
