My recent RfA

Thank jew for considering my RfA. It was a very humbling yet surprisingly gratifying experience. I am grateful for all the constructive comments that will undoubtedly make me a better contributer, and hopefully a stronger candidate in the future. Grika 14:58, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

my editor review

  • Thanks for the review; I've been working on taking Eragon (character) and improving it for possible GA or FA
  • If you want to see it, I put the edit count on the talk page; or you can rv it and change it to teh tennisman in the link to go to the wikimedia page. It put everything in teh tennisman 2 since i made a new review.

Thanks again --teh tennisman 01:12, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

Interested

Hi, I noticed that you withdrew your support from my RfA. You should do what you feel is correct. However, if you have the time, I would be interested in knowing what caused you to change your mind. Sincerely, --BostonMA talk 22:45, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi, a number of editors voted oppose on the basis of my answer to question 6. Perhaps I did not communicate well, or perhaps there is something that I do not understand. I would have thought that I expressed a desire to avoid deleting such articles, so it surprises me that others have such a different reading. Perhaps I am not aware of differences between us that may really exist. My answer read in part:
"As a normal editor, have tended to prefer removing spam and stubbification to outright deletion for bad articles about encyclopedic subjects. As an admin, I think I would tend to avoid deleting such articles."
So, I am still a bit curious. --BostonMA talk 23:46, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Well, I opposed per Q6 because I doubt he would actually change his philosophy once he became admin. I don't know if that's what other people thought, but for me, that was a reason for opposing. Nishkid64 14:47, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

Welcome to the AMA!

File:AMA logo.png

Hello David Fuchs, I see that you have decided to join the AMA. I'll be the first to say welcome! We're always in need of more advocates, especially since were backlogged most of the time. Before heading into your first case, please take some time to familiarize yourself with the AMA FAQ's, the Guide to Advocacy, and the AMA Handbook.

Just a few pointers for what we do. We communicate by putting a template on our talk page. The template is {{AMA alerts}}. The AMA also has it's own IRC channel, which reports new cases and alerts to us. It can also be used as a place to ask for advice on an issue. If you'd like to jump right into a case, you are free to check out AMA Requests for Assistance, which is our new request for advocacy system. The instructions for how the technical part works is on it's talk page. You can also use the AMA userboxes that appear under here. If you have anymore questions about the organization, just ping any advocate's talk page, including our coordinator Steve Caruso or deputy coordinators Wikiwoohoo and Aeon. Again, welcome to the AMA! -Royalguard11(Talk·Desk·Review Me!) 18:09, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

Halo edit

Well, the reason you couldn't find that "penis" comment was because I deleted the "entire intro and infobox of the page" as you have stated. So please use some common sense next time but it was on there! On my computer screen!

And lots of ppl have hacked wiki I presume. Afterall, vandalism is very common on some of these articles. ~Heyfunboy

Thank you for the answer. I will try to speak with him. The ids mrtag and itihaas are mine and they know it but they continue blocking and hence i had to create new. Thankgully they have spared the new id.Vishu123 06:46, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Sentry / Showdown

Ok, I talked to Ethan and he says he doesn't want to maintain the site. I already told this to JoJan. The Sentry one however I still think should be kept on - unless you can provide ar reason other than "It's not worth it" or what you said in class, then I'm afraid I'll have to keep the hangon .

User:Vishu123 sockpuppetry

Hi David,

Because the case was too complicated for WP:AIV (which is for cases of blatant vandalism), I moved your report to Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#User:Vishu123 sockpuppetry. --Deathphoenix ʕ 22:33, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

No problem. Usually, we do only a minimum of investigating on AIV. Sockpuppet investigations usually benefit from at least one or two other administrators' opinions. --Deathphoenix ʕ 23:41, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Sorry bout the massive images, I've never put an image on before and I had to figure out how to make them smaller to fit in a userbox :-D. Hey if your willing to make me a page that'd be awesome, just tell me what I need to do! Danielfolsom 23:01, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Gotcha, so I actually have to leave for like an hour, but is there anything that I need to do for the user page design?

Thank you for your support

Thank you for your support in the RfA on my behalf. It is an honor to have received your expression of confidence. To be chosen as an administrator requires a high level of confidence by a broad section of the community. Although I received a great deal of support, at this time I do not hold the level of confidence required, and the RfA did not pass. It is my wish that I will continue to deserve your confidence. Sincerely, --BostonMA talk 20:46, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

p.s. I am especially grateful for your assistance. --BostonMA talk 20:46, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

David - thanks for your comments on the AfD for Tacit Software. Would appreciate another look and feedback regarding cleanup as I continue to improve notability and neutrality. Thanks! --Cbyeh 16:08, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

My Request for Adminship

Thanks for contributing to my RfA! Thank you for your support in my my RfA, which passed with a tally of 117/0/1. I hope that my conduct as an admin lives up to the somewhat flattering confidence the community has shown in me. As I continue to gain experience, I hope my area of contributions to main space will broaden, whilst retaining the same quality. Please don't hesitate to leave a message on my talk page should you need anything or want to discuss something with me.--Nilfanion (talk) 16:14, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Image tagging for Image:Smv.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Smv.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. FYI, the original author has removed the prod. I just thought I'd let you know in case you wanted to take it to AFD at some point. --BigDT 05:03, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Hello David, I just prod'd this article also and didn't even notice you'd put a prod on the page. But my notice too has been removed. Just wondering if you think, as BigDT suggested, we should send it to AfD, or wait to see if the author will reference it at all? Best, Fbv65edel / ☑t / ☛c || 05:44, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

WP:ADOPT

Hi there,

As a current Adopter with the Adopt-a-User program there has been some ongoing developments that we would like to bring to your attention.

A new Adopter's Area has been created where you can find useful resources and other Adopter's experiences. Please feel free to add any resources you may have found useful as an Adopter, as well as recount any experiences that you think may help others. If you know of any useful resources for new users / Adoptees then you can add them here.

Also the way the adoption process works has changed slightly. To decrease workload at Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user, on offering adoption please change the {{Adoptme}} template to {{Adoptoffer}} on the user's user page, and this will add the user to Category:Wikipedians having been offered adoption. Users that have already been offered adoption can always have a second or third offer, but by separating out those users that have not had an adoption offer yet, it is hoped that no one will go lacking.

Furthermore numerous Adopters have been adding their details to a list of users available for adopting, to offer a more personalised service and allow new users to browse through and pick their own Adopter. The quickest way to adopt though, is still to contact users at the Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user.

Finally - thanks for all your hard work, keep it up - and if you have any general questions or suggestions about the further development of Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User please bring them to our talk page. Cheers Lethaniol 13:51, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Curiousity question

On your recent Risk edit, you referenced MoS. What is that? I put that reference tag in originally, but I copied it off some other page and I'd like to see how references are supposed to be used. I'm comfortable with a reply on my talk page, as you state in your header. Thanks, Dan Slotman 18:59, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

My Editor Review

Thank you for your comments. After reviewing your recommendations, I have joined a wikiproject and am currently looking for an article upon which to begin work. Once again, I appreciate your comments. W. Flake (talk) 01:58, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Hey Fuchs you might want to let Rodzilla know that you put Serious Sam II on Hold. Rodzilla hasn't made an edit in a few days, so that might be a good idea. I was gonna put this on hold myself, but was too lazy.--Clyde (talk) 02:47, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

I've attempted to address most of your concerns, and have left comments under each on the talk page. Please let me know whether you have further concerns and what your thoughts are on my responses to some of your comments. --Rodzilla (talk) 17:50, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Ann Coulter

RE: "Your recent edits could be considered trolling and/or a personal attack. Please stop if you have nothing of import to contribute to the discussion. Dåvid ƒuchs (talk • contribs) 17:22, 15 January 2007 (UTC)"

Please assume good faith, and please be careful with unsupported assertions of trolling. My recent edits are strong comments, on a talk page, against proposed edits to a locked article. How can comments on proposed content be any sort of a "personal attack?" The proposed edits are obviously non-notable, and are negative comments in a biography of a living person. Their triviality is exceeded by their smarmy negativity. They are in opposition to the thoughts presented in the talk page discussion that precedes them. It IS contributing in a positive way to the discussion to call them what they are, particularly since literary illustrations are provided. (Did you follow the links?) Revert of WC3 Quote to table revision

You should explain your reason for reverting the revision which converted the paragraph of quotes to a table. This change made the text much more readable, and it is content that really belongs in a table, not a big blob of text. Vectorjohn 19:20, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the clarification. As you could probably gather by the size of my talk page, I am new to this. I will watch out and try not to make that mistake in the future. Vectorjohn 06:56, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

I am the user who made the change (it was my hope IP, this is my work ip; and i've now created an account). I'd like a reason why you reverted, since none was given in the comment. If I made a wiki-faux paus, please let me know so I may improve my future contributions. --EricBetts 21:37, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the clarification. You're right it sure made the section longer. After the revert I was looking an explanation and noticed that the discussion page talks about cleaning up the quotes section and making it pithy. Perhaps that is the best way. As it stands, the blob of text used currently is bad english and looks like a lot of contributers just started tossing on line after line when they thought of one they thought was funny. The section should be changed, as it is right now, it is the very definition of "an indiscriminate collection of info". --EricBetts 01:15, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Request for Assistance

Hello Mr. Fuchs,

I request your advocacy assistance in a dispute i'm involved in.

I'm a relatively new contributor to the Hebrew Wikipedia. I believe i've been maltreated by four administrators in that Wikipedia. I consider requesting from the arbitration committee to revoke these administrator's special privileges. I wish to be consulted whether i have a case, if so what steps i should take next and if not what my alternatives are. Would you be interested in hearing more of the matter?

Sincerely yours, Itay Be'erli —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Itayb (talkcontribs) 23:11, 17 January 2007 (UTC).

My Editor Review

Hello. I wanted to send you a note of personal thanks for reviewing my efforts on Wikipedia at my editor review page. I responded to some of your comments on the review itself. I figured that I would let you know in case you were interested. If you'd like to further discuss anything specific about my response, please feel free to comment on my talk page and we can confer further rather than fill the WP:ER page. Thanks, again! ju66l3r 05:05, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
