Getting Back into the Swing of Things: Announcements and Questions

Hello DarkKnight2149, Just wanted to let you know of a couple of things before I forget. I'm now on my winter break and so I will try getting back into working on the Leatherface project. I have been looking over it a couple of times and realized that we need to add information on the character's development in the new prequel to the development section since there is none of that information in that section. I will be working on the remake timeline stuff so if you come across any information pertaining to that during your search for information on the other timelines feel free to send them my way. I've also been working on several other articles in my spare time such as trying to get my already GA status article on The Hideous Sun Demon ready for FA status (that might take some time though). I am also working on rewriting and expanding the article on The Gill-Man via a separate userspace. I had a couple of questions pertaining to that, such as whether or not I should add the character's appearance in The Monster Squad, the reason I'm hesitant to do this is since it's not a part of the Universal Monster series and more of a homage to the character so I don't know if it should go there or in the popular culture section. Again thanks for all the help with the Leatherface article, you and several others have made invaluable contributions to its expansion and I can't wait to get it approved for FA status.take that Jason!--Paleface Jack (talk) 17:33, 12 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Paleface Jack: If the Leatherface draft does reach FA status, that would be awesome. Work has been moving slowly there, but I intend on adding the rest of Texas Chainsaw 3D to the Characterisation in the near future. I'll take a look at the development sections for the draft and add information from the prequel there. In the case of The Monster Squad, do we know if the Universal Monsters in the film are officially licensed by Universal Pictures? If it isn't officially licensed, my instinct would be to list it in Popular culture. Leatherface (2017 film) is nearly complete and the Blu-Ray comes out in a few days. When I obtain a copy, I'll probably add any applicable information from the Special Features (casting information, filming, removed/deleted scenes, ETC). I know you mentioned wanting to adjust a few things before the eventual peer review. I also plan on doing some work on a Professor Pyg draft, the Begotten draft, Victor Crowley (film), Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (two in-depth interviews have surfaced), and finishing Hellraiser: Judgment when news starts dropping. It was supposed to be released this year, but appears to be in a similar situation to Leatherface (2017) in that news mysteriously stopped and the film missed its release window. Hopefully it comes out by Halloween 2018; director Gary Tunnicliffe has mentioned that a theatrical release is a possibility and that Bob Weinstein was impressed with it. @Paleface Jack: Speaking of "getting back into the swing of things", I haven't been editing much since December. I'll try to get back on that as soon as possible. Leatherface (2017 film) is already awaiting GA review, Hellraiser: Judgment be released next month (I'll need to complete that). Are there any major updates on the Begotten draft? I recently rewatched the film to assist with it. DarkKnight2149 22:01, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I really don't know. College started up again for me and I made the mistake of taking two massive film-making classes back to back so I've been understandably busy and probably will be for a while. I will still continue to make edits whenever I can but major edits may not be immediately forthcoming. I will take a look at the article again and get back to you as soon as I can.--Paleface Jack 03:02, 18 January 2018 (UTC)

@Paleface Jack: I can understand that, not having much time on Wikipedia recently myself. DarkKnight2149 03:06, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It is a bummer though, exhaustion and the fact that I need to finish my film degree have been leaving me with less free time than I would want (sighs) oh well. All work and no play makes (insert name) a dull boy...--Paleface Jack 03:14, 18 January 2018 (UTC)

Here I am again. Unfortunately I am going have to take a hiatus so that I can work more on some projects of mune. I will do only very minor edits since I've been spending more time than I should on this site. Just thought I'd let you know. Also I accidentally clicked on your home page and I say that link that says that it contains your real name... Not sure if it's a joke or what but it sent be to a music video by Rick Astley. I'm a bit confused about that, are you a Youtuber posting videos on Astley?--Paleface Jack 20:32, 17 April 2018 (UTC)

@Paleface Jack: That's understandable, especially since I also haven't been able to edit as much since moving (besides cleaning, unpacking, and real life work, I have mainly been using my phone and public WiFi to edit; probably going to buy my own soon). As for the real name link, it was indeed a joke, albeit a cheap and easy one. I also think the video itself falls into the "so cheesy, it's funny" variety, even if the joke itself is admittedly several years stale. DarkKnight2149 22:25, 17 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I thought as much. Although it would be really funny and (sort of) cool if there were any editors out there that were actual celebrities or famous Youtubers (I don't count);).--Paleface Jack 22:35, 17 April 2018 (UTC)

You probably don't know this but I am also an (unfortunately inactive) member of WikiProject Cryptozoology. I've been seeing a lot of that looks like vandalism by Bloodoffox, removing cryptozoology categories and rewording things to appear as though article topics are on mythological creatures. I believe this is an attempt to get his merger proposal for List of Cryptids merged with List of mythological creatures although I cannot be sure. I'd like your thought on this.--Paleface Jack 01:55, 18 April 2018 (UTC)

@Paleface Jack: I'll look into it right now. DarkKnight2149 15:58, 20 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Update: I took a look at Bloodofox's contributions. Although I haven't found anything to suggest deliberate vandalism, there does appear to be a lot of persistent changes to his preferred revisions without discussion. DarkKnight2149 16:53, 20 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

To @Bloodofox: It doesn't look good when you mass-replace a category in multiple articles without discussion, especially after your attempts to merge the respective list articles throughout the years have failed on more than one occasion. It also doesn't look good when you resort to opening a merger discussion after such without notifying anyone involved in the article and then edit war to keep those changes in place. If you believe in your P.O.V. this much, it would probably be better to notify both WikiProjects and open a larger discussion on this topic. Wikipedia is consensus based, after all. DarkKnight2149 16:53, 20 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

On the topic of humor, have you ever seen RocketMan? It's by far one of the most underappreciated comedy of all time. Surprisingly it was released by Disney but, unfortunately, they haven't released any worth while DVD or Blue-Ray with special features and the like. It's kind of sad. Anyways if you haven't seen it you owe it to yourself to check it out.--Paleface Jack 15:27, 21 April 2018 (UTC)

You might want to post your message to BloodofFox at the FRINGE THEORIES noticeboard. I reverted one of his edits and told him to cease and desist from undiscussed edits to cryptid categories or he would be reported (probably shouldn't have done that) and now he's ranting about me on the "fringe theories" discussion. Hopefully this doesn't escalate but I'm afraid it might.:P--Paleface Jack 00:45, 22 April 2018 (UTC)

... Yepppp, I seem to have made it worse. :O--Paleface Jack 02:30, 22 April 2018 (UTC)

I don't know if we should be reporting this user or not. I still don't understand how that works. Sorry I brought you into this mess I made.:P--Paleface Jack 15:50, 23 April 2018 (UTC)

Continued business

Hello DK2149, Although I'm still very busy at the moment, I was thinking that we should transfer what we have currently on the article on the Leatherface character. My thoughts on that is this: Even though there is still some work that needs to be done to the article with more information needed to be added, I think the best bet in getting some more help with it is to transfer what we have so far and see if anyone else can help. I just wanted your thoughts on the idea before going ahead and implementing it.--Paleface Jack 16:47, 19 March 2018 (UTC)

@Paleface Jack: Greetings, and sorry for the late reply. My personal opinion is that we should wait until it's a bit closer to completion before moving it, because it might attract the wrong types of editors. You can see the edit history of the current Leatherface article to get an idea of what I'm talking about. I myself have had to deal with a lot of that from inexperienced IP editors and redlink accounts at Jigsaw (2017 film), Halloween (2018 film), and Hellraiser: Judgment (the vandal Its judgment day is one I think you yourself reverted). It might be a better idea to alert WP:FILM, since Leatherface is a popular film character and that WikiProject seems active. Of course, it's your draft, so the final decision is in your hands.
In terms of the work on it, I actually have several sources related to Texas Chainsaw 3D bookmarked on my computer that I've been meaning to update it with for a while now. Hopefully I'll get to that soon. I know you mentioned that some of the development regarding the 2017 film should be added to the draft. Might I ask which information do you have in mind? I added the information regarding Sam Strike's preparation for the role to Men Behind the Mask and I added the info on how he was portrayed/written to Characterization. If you still believe that there's other information for that film that is pertinent to the draft, please let me know.
Hellraiser: Judgment is pretty much finished. Like Leatherface (2017 film), I'm pretty much just playing the waiting game with those articles. Judgment is awaiting Peer Review, though it doesn't look like anyone is going to respond (If archived with no reply, I'm thinking about seeking advise from an FA mentor on how close it is to reaching FA quality; if it doesn't have a chance at that, I'm convinced it's ripe enough for a GA nomination). Meanwhile, Leatherface (2017) is collecting dust at WP:GAN#FILM. Just got to wait those out, which gives me time to work on the Leatherface and Professor Pyg drafts.
I also have relatively fresh interviews bookmarked that should help expand the Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III and Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation articles. Cheers. DarkKnight2149 03:47, 25 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I was thinking the same thing, might as well do whatever's best to finish it. Why are you editing a draft on Professor Pyg?--Paleface Jack 03:53, 25 March 2018 (UTC)

I also have a bunch of information on Leatherface all in a file on one of my many flash drives if that helps. I still think we need to get more people working on this article since its only us two at the moment (well I haven't done a lot in the past several months, me being burned out with film projects and stuff). Any other insights from someone else who might bring something fresh that we might be missing is always accepted. I was thinking DarkWarriorBlade considering his work on expanding the article on The Thing, which I also want to make an article on the character and possibly have him help me with that one two. At the moment I'm chilling at the moment "recovering" from this term so it might take me a while to implement all of this... Sighs... Oh well.--Paleface Jack 04:05, 25 March 2018 (UTC)

@Paleface Jack: I'll go ahead and leave a message at WP:FILM to see if we can attract some attention to it. I have actually worked with Darkwarriorblake on occasion in the past (probably the most recent one being in a discussion regarding Joker (character) last year). If he helped on the article, that would be great. He's already helped an impressive number of articles reach Good Article and Featured Article status. Tagging: @Darkwarriorblake: Would you be interested in helping us develop the Leatherface draft?
I would suggest Paul730 for his work on Michael Myers (Halloween) and Jason Voorhees, but he seems to be inactive in recent years. His userpage lists Bignole (who has worked on the draft before) and Zythe as honourary collaborators. I have interacted with Zythe on various occasions in the past (particularly on comic book related articles), but they don't seem to edit many horror articles. Still, it wouldn't hurt to ask. DarkKnight2149 20:01, 25 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Go ahead. I sent a message to DarkWarriorBlade to see if he would like to come onboard, we shall see what that brings.--Paleface Jack 20:37, 25 March 2018 (UTC)

Done @Paleface Jack: @Darkwarriorblake: I have notified the WikiProject. I plan on getting those Texas Chainsaw 3D sources in the draft within the week. DarkKnight2149 21:02, 25 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Good work.--Paleface Jack 21:04, 25 March 2018 (UTC)

Hi guys! I like the original TCSM but I'm no expert on the franchise, so don't think I'll be much help here. Do bear me in mind for other stuff (I'm more au fait with Scream and Nightmare if you're ever working on those shows).Zythe (talk) 15:40, 26 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Paleface Jack: I moved to a new house over the weekend, so I unfortunately got nothing done (Irritating, I realise). I am going to try and catch up on my planned work, especially some additions to articles that I've been meaning to do for a while (Texas Chainsaw 3D at the Leatherface draft, additions to Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday, Halloween (2018 film), Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation, Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III, the Professor Pyg draft, ETC). DarkKnight2149 17:32, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No need to apologize. I understand.--Paleface Jack 19:24, 9 April 2018 (UTC)

He's at it again....

Hello DarkKnight, just though I'd let you know that BloodofFox is at it again. On top of the usual stuff, he's now trying to get redirects on cryptid related articles that don't make any sense whatsoever to me including a redirect of Mythical being to Cryptozoology. I'm sorry for bringing you into this but I think we might need to report him to the admins around here. I'm not even going to attempt to deal with this guy since it was so frustrating the last time I had to where I nearly got my head bitten off by him in a matter of speaking. (sighs)--Paleface Jack 23:41, 6 May 2018 (UTC)

I seriously hate this dude... He reverts all my edits on cryptid articles, giving the usual lame excuses. (sighs)--Paleface Jack 01:44, 16 May 2018 (UTC)

Finally Back...

Hello Darkknight2149, Tis been a while since I last posted something here. After my "hiatus" and the start of summer, I'm finally back to making some more edits for articles now. Just wanted to check up and see if we should continue our collaboration?--Paleface Jack (talk) 00:20, 19 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hellraiser and Cenobites

I've commented at the FAC page. Incidentally, if you have come across any references that can be used in the Cenobite (Hellraiser), can you please add to there? I am not hugely familiar with the sources but this got redirected a year ago and refs would go a long way to that (or an AfD/PROD etc.) not happening in the future. Also a bunch of unreferenced material was removed before that. it may be that none of it is sourceable, but may be some is. Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 19:57, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

That explains a lot. I'm going to file a report within the next few days when I get the time/energy to do so. DarkKnight2149 23:01, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

TTN says that you are a sock puppet of A Nobody. Is this something I should be concerned about? There aren't many edits to your IP address and they all seem to be on deletion nominations. DarkKnight2149 00:33, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Current Project

Hello my good friend Dk2149, Congrats on getting Hellraiser Judgement up to FA status, I know you have been working really hard on that. Anyways, I am currently taking a break from working on Begotten article at the moment as I am still waiting for replies on questions I have asked the reviewers on their talk pages. I have had some time to think about the Leatherface article since the failed Begotten FA status review, and I have come to the conclusion that we will definitely need more help expanding and structuring it correctly if it is ever going to make FA status. Before we do that however, I think we need to start with a character article that is smaller in scope so that we can get use to the overall structuring of things. For that purpose, I have been working on a revision draft for the Black Christmas character Billy, which later turned into a regular draft as the original article was deleted for some reason. I am almost done with THAT but there are some things that still need working on like the "Men Behind the Killer" sub-section and "Legacy" section. I have asked DrownSoda if he would be willing but he has not replied yet, so I was wondering if you want to help me with this?--Paleface Jack (talk) 17:55, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Paleface Jack. It's interesting you should mention that, because I had just knocked some things off od my To-Do list by getting Jerome and Jeremiah Valeska to GA and by finishing and nominating Professor Pyg (which probably won't be reviewed for another several months). As such, I took another look at the Leatherface draft and I myself agree that there are flaws that I was preparing to do a copy-edit on. An example is the Characterisation section. After looking at it with a fresh perspective after working on other stuff, I think it might be best if we divide it into subsections. The continuity-by-paragraph format led to some oversized paragraphs that might be daunting to readers. I was also preparing to do work on shortening quotes and the lead and synopsis sections could use some revision. I will take a look at the Billy draft first, and see what needs to be done. Cheers. DarkKnight2149 02:58, 15 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Tracking down the original article after quickly following a bunch of redirects, it looks like Billy Lenz was redirected without proper PRODing or nomination by Harizotoh9. A while back, Hellraiser articles were similarly redirected without PRODing by Drmies and (if memory serves) someone else. Examples include Chatterer and Cenobite (Hellraiser), the latter of which was restored. Not sure if these situations are related, but I found the Cenobite and Chatterer redirects troubling because I know from experience that coverage for these topics exists and both could be fleshed out into GA-quality articles if I (or someone else) had the time to do it. I suppose the Billy redirect isn't as big of a deal, since you are working on a draft right now. DarkKnight2149 03:09, 15 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Not sure why you're pinging me, but that "Cenobite" thing had poor sourcing (the two books referenced by Casliber, this and this, have only passing mentions); good sourcing may exist elsewhere, but that doesn't make the redirect troubling. And I just wonder why people spend so much time on characters from a movie or a TV show when there's so many non-fictional subjects that need writing up--if just a fraction of that energy were spent on, say, A Life Full of Holes, a good thing would have been done. Drmies (talk) 04:25, 15 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I was thinking the same thing about splitting the work down into sections. My interactions with Brandt Luke Zorn were VERY helpful as he was able to recommend some sources for Begotten (still need to get back to him on that) If need be we can always bring him into the fold. Anyways, I saw the same thing going on with the original Billy article and I tried working on it as best I should but there was just too much stuff going on with edits over there so I just did my MO and went from there. We shall see how this all goes.--Paleface Jack (talk) 04:53, 15 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Drmies "troubling" is probably too strong a word, but I was referring to the article not being PRODed or nominated first. Redirecting and speedy deletions are usually preferable for stubs or articles that are highly unlikely to be notable or have any coverage. To clarify, this wasn't a callout or anything, I tagged you and Harizotoh9 in case you had any input or opinion, because the edit histories list you two as the redirecters. I think there was someone as well, but I can't remember who.
Paleface Jack Alright. I plan on looking over everything over the weekend. DarkKnight2149 23:58, 15 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
User:Darkknight2149, a redirect is a perfectly valid way to handle such matters. It is a likely search term (I suppose), so deletion, in whatever way, should be followed by the creation of a redirect. Plus, not every editorial decision should be a negotiation. I mean, the very creation of such articles isn't announced beforehand and then agreed on, is it? Believe me, I'm not going around redirecting articles to piss people off. Did you write up that book yet? ;) Drmies (talk) 00:22, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Drmies A redirection, by definition, is supposed to provide better clarity to an article by redirecting it into a title that is more appropriate for the article if such a change/move has been made. Controversial edits, meaning edits that are debatable, for example changing the name of an article from Billy (The character's name in the original film) to Billy Lenz (The character's name in the remake) is controversial because it's defining the article by the remake character rather than just keeping the original name. As such, a discussion is in order to better assess the appropriate action. Hopefully this clears up things, if not please let me know.--Paleface Jack (talk) 00:35, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Paleface Jack, sorry, but that is not what a redirect is--it's not "to provide better clarity to an article", and I am not sure what that phrase means. One of the functions of a redirect is to help readers by directing their searches, from a likely search term to the article that discusses the topic, or to the article that provides broader coverage. For instance, Ishmael (Moby-Dick) leads to an article; Stubbs (Moby-Dick) redirects to a list because there is no article yet; Bulkington (Moby-Dick) will probably never be an article (correctly so). Drmies (talk) 16:54, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Did you write up that book yet? - I can tell this is a joking reference to something, but I'm not sure what. ¯\_(:l)_/¯ DarkKnight2149 01:49, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
A Life Full of Holes. No joke. Drmies (talk) 16:54, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have a feeling this is starting to get out of hand....--Paleface Jack (talk) 17:40, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Since you edit related comic book articles. Feel free to weigh in at AFD of Batman (Thomas Wayne) Jhenderson 777 16:29, 22 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Jhenderson777: I tagged Masem just to even out the vote to avoid any further conflict with TTN's "canvassing" accusation (I'm not sure if there was any canvassing or not, I just know that I was invited to the discussion). Masem has sided with TTN on content in the past, hence why he was tagged specifically.
I felt that I should clarify that. It was basically a way to avoid an unnecessary conflict and to avoid having my position dismissed solely because I was allegedly canvassed (even though you tagging someone who has been taking part in these discussions is perfectly justified and I'm sure that TTN has been tagged to several of these AFDs himself). Vandalism on the Will Graham page

Hello again! I think it’s been about a year since we last talked. An anonymous vandal has been at work on the Will Graham page again, and it looks like they’re not going to stop—they’ve replaced Molly’s name with Lecter’s three times within the last day, doing it again an hour or so after every time I clean it up—so I’m hoping we could get some kind of protection template for the page, like I’ve seen done before on other pages.

But I don’t know how to apply for a protection template. So that’s why I’m messaging you—you’ve always been able to help and resolve things before. I’d really appreciate it if you could help again this time. VictimOfEntropy (talk) 11:04, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@VictimOfEntropy: Semi-protection requested. Darkknight2149 05:44, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Collab?

Hey DK2149, after I finish my current big project (getting Sonic the Hedgehog to FA status), I was wondering if you wanted to collaborate and bring Batman to FA status? It's an absolute beast of a project and may even require some spinout articles (e.g. Publication history of Batman is inevitable) so I may not be up to it as a one-man job, but man it'd be great if we could bring that article back up to the level of quality it deserves. If you don't want to it's fine, I just wanted to propose it. Also hope everything's going alright and that you're surviving the COVID madness. JOEBRO64 00:31, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate the offer, but unfortunately I can't commit to any more collaborations and projects at this time. I am currently involved with various drafts (listed on my userpage) and a collaboration with Paleface Jack, which due to my sporadic schedule, has been moving at an excruciatingly slow pace since last year (this must be a pain in the ass, because I was actually about to do a major edit on the Leatherface draft back in January, but as soon as that happened, two incidents broke out - including a dispute at Talk:DC Extended Universe and disruption at WP:AFD - I am still sitting on an Arbritration case pertaining to that, waiting to see if the user in question resumes their behaviour again before filing it. I'm also still trying to figure out if a request for de-adminship is needed on top of that).
I also need to finish the rewrite I started on my userpage earlier this year, and I am going to nominate Professor Pyg for FA at some point. I think I might have to abandon User:Darkknight2149/Superman: Year One, but I'm not sure yet. Lately, I have just been focusing on singular tasks such as contributing to WP:ANI or making stray edits here and there. My resolution to make headway on at least one major task in my backlog before January 2021 hits. Darkknight2149 01:16, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sudden redirection of cinematic Batman articles without discussion

Hi there. I understand your concerns about some articles you've redirected, namely Bruce Wayne (Dark Knight trilogy) and Bruce Wayne (1989 film series character), but I'd at least want to open up a debate before doing so. I don't think it's fair to simply decide for everyone. If enough users think the articles are not notable, then they should be deleted or redirected in my opinion. --WuTang94 (talk) 02:56, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I went ahead and put the 1989 film series back due to to potential reasonings. Feel freely to discuss it on discussion page. Jhenderson 777 11:56, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Trouble on the Hannibal Lecter page again.

Hi there. I really appreciated how you tried to help on the Hannibal Lecter page, but it appears to have made someone else pretty angry—they’ve twice deleted everything you wrote except for “Will Graham”. Can’t believe this is still happening. VictimOfEntropy (talk) 08:13, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your comments on WP guideline talk pages

Hi, I see you've added a comment to a number of talk pages relating to Wikipedia notability guidelines and manuals of style, directing readers to WT:COMICS#Batman: The Animated Series and The New Batman Adventures ([1], [2], [3]).

Those pages are to discuss things like proposed changes or clarifications of the guidelines themselves, not to direct readers to where they might be applied. You may have intended to notify wikiprojects related to the articles being discussed instead. TJRC (talk) 16:15, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A couple of those were suggested by Gonnym (see their talk page). Given the recent concern at The New Batman Adventures, I figured I would go along with it and get the discussion as much coverage as possible. Darkknight2149 16:19, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I think that advice was misguided. TJRC (talk) 16:22, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I went with it because s/he kept saying that WT:COMICS is not the place to discuss it (even though it's one of the topic areas/projects it falls under the scope of), that the discussion should have as much eyeballs as possible, and I wasn't about to get accused of sweeping everything under the rug, so I went with it. It is still linked at WT:TELEVISION, so clearly people are aware that the discussion is taking place. Darkknight2149 16:27, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hellraiser: Judgment scheduled for TFA

This is to let you know that Hellraiser: Judgment has been scheduled as WP:TFA for 7 November 2020. Please check that the article needs no amendments. If you're interested in editing the main page text, you're welcome to do so at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/November 7, 2020. Thanks! Ealdgyth (talk) 13:59, 24 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It’s happening again. On both articles this time.

After almost three months, the vandal has returned to the Hannibal Lecter page and the Will Graham page. Someone else tried to fix it, but they messed up the formatting of the page in doing so. And then the vandal returned again. VictimOfEntropy (talk) 13:35, 5 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Urgent Help Needed, Please

I just woke up and am somehow engaged in many conflicts with a much more experienced editor who has been removing information from a bunch of Thomas Harris-related articles. Please help. I can’t keep up with the jargon and other stuff.

It seems like this person is a fan of the films and for whatever reason has a vendetta against the novels and/or Thomas Harris himself. They’ve posted in some generic film-fan talk page asking for others to come and define Hannibal Lecter as a film character instead of a literary character, among other things. VictimOfEntropy (talk) 13:35, 8 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@VictimOfEntropy: I have requested page protection. In the meantime, I highly advise that neither you nor Popcornfud make another reversion until one of you has gained consensus. Edit warring reflects negatively on both of you. Also keep WP:3RR and WP:3RRE in mind. Darkknight2149 18:12, 8 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Darkknight2149, there is no page protection necessary. Talk page discussions are happening.
For the record, I do not have any "vendetta" against novels or Thomas Harris, that is a ridiculous idea. Popcornfud (talk) 18:15, 8 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I requested it in large part because of the IP activity and general instability that was happening right beforehand. Whether it is too soon for protection, an administrator will determine. I don't really have a position in this conflict. @VictimOfEntropy: For future reference, it is better to say "Help, I am engaged in a conflict, what should I do?" than to make accusations. Darkknight2149 18:21, 8 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Discussions are not happening. The page needs to stay as is. I don’t even know who wrote the opening paragraph, but they did it as well as anyone could have, I think. @Darkknight2149: I only said it *seemed* that way, because it does. It’s not as if the films aren’t adequately mentioned and detailed on the page. But Hannibal Lecter is a literary character, that is what he was created for. And the films were only adaptations of the novels which preceded them. VictimOfEntropy (talk) 18:49, 8 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you look at the page of any character from literature that has been adapted, I’m sure you’ll see it’s written the same way there. VictimOfEntropy (talk) 18:52, 8 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry if I was over-dramatic, though—I had just woken up, as I mentioned, and I’m struggling with several ailments at the moment, and I was startled to see this person suddenly show up and start altering so many Harris-related pages in that way. VictimOfEntropy (talk) 18:55, 8 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

“Fictional LGBT characters in television”

I don’t see how this tag could fit, as it’s never actually shown in the show that Lecter is pansexual—he’s only ever shown kissing and having sex with women, never expressing any sexual or romantic interest in men. What Bryan Fuller says in interviews or on social media isn’t part of the show, is it? This is like a J. K. Rowling type of situation. VictimOfEntropy (talk) 07:17, 15 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I mean, he could say things in interviews that were the complete opposite of what was depicted in the show. Anyone can say anything about someone else, but that doesn’t make it true. VictimOfEntropy (talk) 07:25, 15 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Also, LGBT doesn’t necessarily include pansexual—so even if we were to allow the tag to stand, it would need to be “Fictional pansexual characters in television”, I think. VictimOfEntropy (talk) 07:31, 15 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I only re-added the category tentatively with the interview in mind, but personally (and given WP:V) I would take the creator's interpretation as canon. Will being straight and Hannibal being pan sheds some light on their relationship, and it makes sense that Hannibal wouldn't restrict himself to "gay" or "straight" (from a real life psychology perspective, sexuality is actually a spectrum). Other articles are like this, such as Dumbledore treating JK Rowling's word about him being gay as fact.
Then again, it might be a better conversation to consider how much weight we should give reboot Lecter over the previous versions, since the article is about the character as a whole and not just Anthony Hopkins, Mads Mikkelsen, or even Harris Lecter (who had red eyes, elevan fingers, and who reconstructed his face after Silence, which is different from any on-screen adaptation). For the record, I have never watched Gotham, so I didn't realize Jane Cartwright had nothing to do with Calendar Girl. I apologize for not looking into it further and deleting that information from Calendar Man's page myself. I also do not tolerate original research on Wikipedia, but clearly, I'm not as informed as you and/or as I should be. Once again, I apologize. Blazewing16 (talk) 05:50, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I’ve come to ask for your help again with a persistent vandal on the Hannibal Lecter and Will Graham pages. I’m awfully tired. VictimOfEntropy (talk) 10:55, 22 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please, please help. It just happened again, for the fourth time in just fourteen hours, on the Will Graham page. Maybe adding the same note that you added to the Hannibal Lecter page would help as a slight deterrent? I don’t know how long it’ll last, but things do seem to have slowed down a little bit over there at least. VictimOfEntropy (talk) 12:25, 22 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Something happening on the Hannibal Lecter (franchise) page

I could really use some help. I honestly have no idea what’s going on here. Some user with a nonsense name whose account was created less than a week ago has twice added a category to the info box saying that the franchise is “owned” by something called Bertelsmann. If it’s supposed to be referring to the rights to the novels, I know that’s impossible, because the film rights to Red Dragon and The Silence of the Lambs have been held by different people for decades now, right? This user isn’t providing any explanation for what they’re doing, they just undid my undo. VictimOfEntropy (talk) 23:46, 30 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

And now that user just came back and edited it to say that the whole franchise is owned by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, which, again, I know isn’t true. Please help. VictimOfEntropy (talk) 23:52, 30 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I think we might be getting somewhere. No help may be needed. They just edited without thinking, I guess. They undid their own edit. VictimOfEntropy (talk) 00:00, 1 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Leatherface: Collaboration

Hello DK, sorry about the long wait for this but I am thinking that, in order to smooth things along with getting that Leatherface draft dusted off and back up and running we should probably focus on converting those references into the sfn format. Each of us could focus on a particular section of this draft so as not to go over what one of us is already focusing on. Just an idea that I thought worth mentioning. Anyways let me know what you think about that. Happy editing mate. Paleface Jack (talk)----

TCM

I'll do my best. I didn't realize it wasn't a direct sequel to the original film. I thought I recalled it initially being marketed as a direct sequel (which was rather annoying to me at the time, because I'm already tired of everyone giving their own "direct sequel" crap to horror films from my youth that have plenty of sequels). I think the hard part with Alvarez's statement is that it isn't really a definitive. It's a "they probably still happened". It seems more like a cover my ass comment so people aren't upset that I'm rewriting their memories.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 15:38, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey hey hey, don't besmudge the good name of Friday the 13th in this. They have far better continuity than Halloween and TCM, who can't seem to figure it out from one film to the next. LOL. Jason Goes to Hell is really the only one that stopped explaining how he came back, and I think that was because New Line only owned the characters and not any of the content from the original films. As for TCM, the series is so convoluted. You'd need to tie a rope to the original film and trace through the others just to make sure you can find your way back.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 13:19, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Leatherface

Been a while since I worked on it but might as well stop putting it off and get down to business. Anyways I am probably gonna start up that Leatherface revision draft again, had thoughts and ideas on how to accomplish it. Converting the literary sources into sfn format while keeping the web and video ones in the regular format is an idea I have been toying around with. Anyways idk if you want to jump into it again but I just thought I would let you know.--Paleface Jack (talk) 18:27, 19 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Darkknight2149: That sounds good. I want to really start updating and reformatting all the existing sources before we go about rewriting the article cause that way we focus on things a piece at a time. We can coordinate on that once yiou get a look see on it.--Paleface Jack (talk) 02:41, 17 April 2022 (UTC Just a heads up. I have been doing the expansion of the revision draft, which I have gotten up to twice the length of what it was originally. Although I am not even close to being done (Not touching the new film until ALL of the information from the previous film entries have been included) its progress. I have expanded the type of sources I have been working with to include the Making of documentaries on each film (1, 2, and the remake film have been complete), still have a lot to do before I get to the Characteriztion and legacy sections.--Paleface Jack (talk) 23:56, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Update

Hello @Darkknight2149:. This is more of an update on the current state of the draft rather than an invitation cause I know you are busy working on other things. Anyways been working hard in my free time expanding the revision draft and its slowly coming together. Have 201 citations thus far and not really near completion yet but its starting to look well. Its probably the most ambitious and grueling projects I have ever done but I feel its gonna come around Very well. Hope all is well with you mate, Happy editing.--Paleface Jack (talk) 19:21, 11 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hellraiser Reboot draft

Just cause why not I decided to give your draft a look over, its looking pretty good so far! I personally wouldn't delve into most of the failed attempts to reboot cause that would be interesting to have as a separate article. Also looked over the leatherface directors attempting to do a rewrite of Barker's script. Extortionately that reference is dead and unsalvageable due to it not being archived. Anyways I don't want to mess with anything cause you have a completely different writing style than mine but Also be sure to include each original publication date of each of your sources. Happy editing Mate and hopefully it all works well. Paleface Jack (talk) 20:17, 27 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Leatherface (2017) information

Hello DarkKnight. Hopefully all is well woth you as you have been pretty busy as of late. Anyways I have come across a little dead end in my work with the Leatherface draft. In my expansion of the article I have been diving into the character and his development in each of the films, as each one was different in style and tone in every entry. Although I have a LOT of work done, I have tried to find information pertaining to the design of the character in the 2017 prequel and have only managed to find a behind the scenes featurette on that particular film but it can only be accessed via hard copy of the DVD/Blue ray which I have been unable to acquire. I saw that when you expanded the article for that film that you used that featurette as a source and was wondering if you have access to that featurette and if you could assist with that. You dont have to if you are swamped but I felt it worth asking. Anyways happy editing mate! Paleface Jack (talk) 19:36, 18 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable non-free use File:Van Helsing 1931.png

Thanks for uploading File:Van Helsing 1931.png. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file's talk page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 11:55, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
