Glad to have had your message on my talk page the other day, Daniel :) I hope you're doing well - always makes me happy to have an interaction with someone I knew 10 - 15 years ago on here. It's great you're still active! Acalamari21:58, 15 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Maurice Novoa (Australianblackbelt's favourite topic)
Hey Daniel. Looking for your input as you're familiar with the topic and users involved. It seems that Maurice Novoa's page (that you originally deleted off an AfD) has been recreated with 98% identical text to when it was deleted, using User:Australianblackbelt's uploaded phots and suddenly has multiple editors editing in it. Clearly the page should be deleted again as it's a recreation of a deleted page with no substantial changes, but I'm also wondering if there is any sockpuppetry, or at least meat, from Australianblackbelt going on here. I'm happy to delete it myself, but I wanted a second opinion on the events surrounding it. Canterbury Tailtalk12:58, 29 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sigh...yes, agree on both fronts. I've nominated for CSD G4 to get another set of eyes on it, but agree there's some sockpuppetry or meatpuppetry going on here. Daniel (talk) 00:41, 30 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I saw that and I’ve just deleted it. It was almost identical to the old version. I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t looking at it in a tainted manner. And yes I think there’s more going on here that needs looking into. Canterbury Tailtalk01:12, 30 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And the User: Agnez Mo fan just linked to the article from a load of Australianblackbelts favourite articles that someone wouldn’t just happen to stumble across. Seems pretty clear cut. Canterbury Tailtalk01:16, 30 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Fantastic, thanks for that - definitely showed similar behavioural patterns, especially the gratuiotous linking to the article. If it gets recreated once more I'll be salting it I think. Daniel (talk) 20:39, 30 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Voting in the 2023 Community Wishlist Survey will begin on 10 February 2023 and end on 24 February 2023. You can submit, discuss and revise proposals until 6 February 2023.
Tech tip: Syntax highlighting is available in both the 2011 and 2017 Wikitext editors. It can help make editing paragraphs with many references or complicated templates easier.
I was ruminating about what would be the best way to close this, and ended up putting it on my watchlist just to see how it would be handled. Just wanted to let you know, I think you did exactly the right thing, and I hope some of this wisdom will be absorbed by my tiny brain. Thanks for all you do around here. 78.26(spin me / revolutions)18:21, 2 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but I have to disagree. Obviously, I'm INVOLVED, but I don't see how it can be closed as anything other than keep. None of the delete/redirect !voters did much of anything to explain how the links posted by 5225C and Jovanmilic97 didn't meet GNG; Drmies attempted, but using phrases like The second, the Italian source, it's better (while also misrepresenting the scope of the article, which he later doubled down on when corrected by HumanBodyPiloter5) and The fourth, from Racer, that's OK doesn't come off to me as very dismissive of them.
It has nothing to do with wanting vindication of the article in the state it is in. But AfD is not cleanup and GNG is not concerned with whether the sources are present in the article, but whether they exist (please correct me if I'm wrong here). - "Ghost of Dan Gurney"(work / talk)02:07, 3 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
GhostOfDanGurney, those sources are shit and you know it. A couple of websites, a few enthusiasts, and a shitload of little hobbyists' factoids, and there's your Wikipedia article. It's embarrassing--when some of us are trying to write quality content. Drmies (talk) 02:21, 3 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Drmies: With respect, it does not appear that you are familiar with motorsports articles and your evaluations of the outlets I (and others) presented seems completely divorced from how they are considered in reality. If multiple motorsports editors are telling you that this is coverage from outlets that are reliable and respected within the field, then you really ought to listen. 5225C (talk • contributions) 02:30, 3 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
End of conversation here - go argue about it elsewhere. A lot of the conduct above is quite unbecoming. I'm not changing my close, if you have such a moral objection to it, deletion review is available to you. Daniel (talk) 02:50, 3 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
An editor has asked for a deletion review of Ferrari Challenge. Because you closed the deletion discussion for this page, speedily deleted it, or otherwise were interested in the page, you might want to participate in the deletion review. - "Ghost of Dan Gurney"(work / talk)04:02, 3 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Following a request for comment, the Portal CSD criteria (P1 (portal subject to CSD as an article) and P2 (underpopulated portal)) have been deprecated.
The Terms of Use update cycle has started, which includes a [p]roposal for better addressing undisclosed paid editing. Feedback is being accepted until 24 April 2023.
The rollback of Vector 2022 RfC has found no consensus to rollback to Vector legacy, but has found rough consensus to disable "limited width" mode by default.
Hi, Daniel! I think you closed this 2021 AfD perfectly accurately, but since that close, it's come to light that both the nominator User:RandomCanadian and the sole delete !voter User:No Great Shaker were socking. When I reassess the debate subtracting the users who we now know to have been in bad faith, I get to "no consensus" or even, arguably, "keep". In the circumstances would you be willing to consider restoring the article?—S MarshallT/C09:21, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
A request for comment about removing administrative privileges in specified situations is open for feedback.
Technical news
Progress has started on the Page Triage improvement project. This is to address the concerns raised by the community in their 2022 WMF letter that requested improvements be made to the tool.
Following an RfC, editors indefinitely site-banned by community consensus will now have all rights, including sysop, removed.
As a part of the Wikimedia Foundation's IP Masking project, a new policy has been created that governs the access to temporary account IP addresses. An associated FAQ has been created and individual communities can increase the requirements to view temporary account IP addresses.
Technical news
Bot operators and tool maintainers should schedule time in the coming months to test and update their tools for the effects of IP masking. IP masking will not be deployed to any content wiki until at least October 2023 and is unlikely to be deployed to the English Wikipedia until some time in 2024.
Arbitration
The arbitration case World War II and the history of Jews in Poland has been closed. The topic area of Polish history during World War II (1933-1945) and the history of Jews in Poland is subject to a "reliable source consensus-required" contentious topic restriction.
Hello, I've been addressing fostered content issues on Wikipedia over the past month and there are now only three remaining in usertalk space. One of these is on your User talk:Daniel/Archive/59. If you would be willing, would you replace the entire contents of the "Doczilla's RFA" section with the following code block (within the collapse) to correct the syntax issues (one fostered content error, a table tag issue, two obsolete tags, a missing end tag, and three stripped tags)? While I'd normally make a smaller change X to Y in this sort of situation, this particular section had layered issues and it is just easier to fix the whole thing in one go.
Change to the following

Thank you. The reason I was asking was more due to it being Full protected and my not being able to access it with my Extended Confirmed level access, rather than it being someone's archive, however. That said, WOSlinker took care of the fostered content error the other week, and all fostered content errors in User Talk space are now happily gone. I'd be happy to address the other errors on your talk page if given the access, but the main issue I was after the other week has been addressed. Zinnober9 (talk) 10:37, 31 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
