What is this about?

You added in regards to my comment the wording "The distinction you're making is often cited in patriot/2nd amendment type circles and discussions..." which, by seemingly purposeful innduendo, you seem to be tying my comment to. You asked on your user page to let you know when you've made a mistake, this is one. I am not a member of any circle or group of patriots or "2nd amendment types", but had made a statement in my own words which you've now tried to twist, in good faith or not, to fit a narrative. @Randy Kryn: I sincerely apologize if you took it as insinuation that those labels described you and I have removed it out of courtesy. I was only saying where I have most often seen this kind of assertion that "republic" is exclusive of "democracy" when to the best of my knowledge they are properly synonymous.
You introduced this (possibly pedantic) tangent into a conversation where "democracy" had barely been used, and not incorrectly at all from my understanding. Also the reply indentation was off so I wasn't sure if you were correcting all prior uses of it or just the immediate one. By characterizing where I had seen it I didn't mean to discredit you, and I suppose I did mean to discredit the idea, although I don't think there is anything inherently disreputable about that association.
I guess what I meant is: "I have seen this most often among people who like to discuss or argue about the US constitution in particular and not political science, philosophy or history in general." —DIYeditor (talk) 21:47, 16 February 2023 (UTC)

Assume good faith

Please remember to assume good faith when dealing with other editors. Seattle Science Teacher shared an opinion in a thread that had been inactive for months, and the active discussion was occurring in another section of that talk page, Talk:James Madison § Slavery section neutrality. Welcoming a newcomer and redirecting them to the relevant section is neither canvassing nor trolling. @Freoh: You act strangely and I'm trying to figure how why, and how to define it, given an ongoing ANI report about you. Also, I believe it is canvassing, The audience must not be selected on the basis of their opinions—for example, if notices are sent to editors who previously supported deleting an article, then identical notices should be sent to those who supported keeping it. @Skywatcher68 fair enough. They looked like completely bogus joke edits at first glance but AGF would apply as always. I meant to undo the 186.96.216.218 (talk · contribs) initial vandalism as well (which PhilKnight did) but I didn't understand that "rollback" in Twinkle would only do a single user's edits, not all the range that I had selected (unless I just failed to select the correct range). —DIYeditor (talk) 14:18, 10 May 2023 (UTC)

...no criticism intended on my part. I'm mostly just screwing around and laughing at the truth of GN's comment. I wasn't thinking or talking about anyone in particular. I've long thought that experienced editors should be able to quietly and efficiently remove obviously zero-chance case requests, as a courtesy to save the OP the torrent of criticism that awaits them, but that has always been frowned upon by the powers that be. That's one of the reasons I recommend self-disclosure, if one is willing. (And just added another paragraph on that.) Most people only learn an editor has a "serious" mental illness when that editor is defending themself from a accusation, or enmeshed in some sort of controversy. That's part of why I, as a person with dissociative identity disorder, maintain a "united front" on-wiki, because the moment I say, "Oh, that block was by C but you're talking to 5 now", I'm perpetuating that. (I've toyed with the idea of listing which Tamzin(s) wrote each of my creations, as some positive visibility, but can never make my mind up.) I do think the trend of less positive visibility contributes to editors often feeling that adverse experiences are negative commentary on disabilities they may have. Sure, and I've had no small number of people say (mostly off-wiki) that I'm unfit to be an admin because I have DID, although I'm still waiting on any of them to explain why. The list of mistakes I've made as an admin, and the list of quirks in my editing that relate to DID, are basically non-overlapping circles. (The biggest risk of overlap is that it's sometimes difficult for me to respond to messages in a timely fashion, which could lead to an WP:ADMINACCT violation, but I solve that by mentally categorizing ADMINACCT inquiries as the sort of urgent issue that demand my various parts fall in line and take action, like smelling smoke or hearing someone at my door.) But people like to use the rhetoric of "Mentally ill, therefore bad," even when it makes no sense. Things have gotten better, though, at least. This RfA is still the most disgusting discussion I've ever read on Wikipedia. But that editor had the courage to run a second time, even after being shot down based on peers' armchair-psychiatrist opinions on how her condition worked, and in passing set a precedent; 10 years later, for all my RfA's controversy, I don't believe my well-disclosed mental illness came up once. I don't know how to respond to your incorrect assessment.

Something very strange is going on here. At first I didn't see any dispute at all. I saw 4 editors basically agreeing they don't like WikiTree. Deathmolor did some major WP:FORUM and WP:SOAP violations and is a good candidate to be checked out for WP:NOTHERE. Anyway, I don't see the dispute that is being brought here or what the goals are. All the editors seem to more or less be in agreement, aside from Deathmolor arguing with scarecrows about racism (?). If someone wants to propose it for deletion go for it. I see that the "dispute" which has not been articulated here may be with Turninghearts who is not listed for some reason, and possibly Orlady, but Deathmolor, Belle Fast, MundoMango (who was strangely attacked by Deathmolor?), and Gerdolfo seem to be united as critics. Be aware that should anyone prove to be a WP:NOTHERE WP:SPA account or WP:MEATPUPPET this will most likely end up at WP:ANI (I say this before looking into the individuals in question). —DIYeditor (talk) 08:12, 4 August 2023 (UTC)

The above assessment of the situation is wrong, the TurningHearts character seems to be from Wikitree. And I have yet to see a single editor who did not make an edit who was not personally invested. I have been around on wikipedia since the beginning of time and even trivial edits often have people saying the same thing. If an editor digs in on information provided then people like you come by to attack in a direct an personal way with zero accountability. Applying WP:NOTHERE, WP:SPA, WP:MEATPUPPET, WP:ANI the alphabet soup of rules has a chilling effect on contributions by everyone and again silences others who do not conform to your social click. I would have contributed a lot over the years if it were not for a rude response like this that has been received on any of my edit's. They seem self serving because indigenous and black people editing pages will have a personal and vested interest in the topic. Just like those of English culture have a vested interest in silencing those who do not give out the white person handshake of authoritarian acceptance. We know when we are being oppressed by the rule lawyers. Rules are important but when you combine them with insult that is when we can tell your objectives are also stepping over the line. You did not even acknowledge the flurry of edits that came in shortly after my one contribution that basically obliterated the contribution. Again Belle Fast and I were agreeing, I didn't attack anyone. Your interpretation is so off i can't even sort it out.   • New Page Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles. We could use a few extra hands on deck if you think you can help.
  • Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; Wikipedia needs experienced users to perform this task and there are precious few with the appropriate skills. Even a couple reviews a day can make a huge difference.

Amhara people page

The page of the Amhara people is constantly being violated by specific agenda of a user. He used to had an Arabic user name and now he changed it to English. He deleted various informations from the post. Including Amhara relationships to the Aksum empire and he is editing stuff based on his own agenda.
