At WrestleMania XXIV, Shawn Michaels defeated Ric Flair after executing the Sweet Chin Music, which as a result, meant that Ric Flair was forced to retire from professional wrestling. The next night, at Flair's retirement ceremony on Raw, Triple H congratulated Flair for his 35 year career, and brought out retired and current superstars to thank him. Michaels, and the whole WWE roster came out later to thank him as well.
The Undertaker defeated Edge to become the new World Heavyweight Champion forcing him to submit to the Gogoplata. During the pyro celebration for Undertaker's 16-0 streak, a freak accident occurred just before WrestleMania went off-air. During the pryo shooting to the entrance stage, a firework went to the upper-level section of the crowd on top. Forty-five fans were injured, and currently, WWE is trying to investigate what was the cause of the pyrotechnic malfunction

"After all, we beat you almost both times we meet you in the season." Is that even english? I guess thats what happens when a hillbilly West Virginia fan starts hanging out with Cowboys fans. Lets not even go into the fact that we have beat you guys 4 out of the last 6 times we played. Oh I forgot to ask hows that 1996 playoff game feeling? still fresh? Dont talk to me. Next week we will start the Editor of the Week. This will take the place of the Member Interviews. The EOTW will be given their own interview instead. To be fair, this week we will post all of the interviews that were on the schedule. Click the link next to the user's name to see their interview:
The 2008 NFL Draft and spring football have both wrapped up. Be sure to update your teams' pages with the latest info from the draft and with roster changes at the end of spring practice. If you've taken any photos at your teams' spring games, now's the time to upload them to Wikimedia Commons. Even if you don't have a place for the image right now, putting it on Wikimedia allows other editors to use your photo in their articles. You know how good a photographer you are — let everyone else see it, too!
Welcome to the latest issue of the College football WikiProject newsletter! I hope that you're enjoying regular updates about the goings on of college football on Wikipedia, but if not, feel free to add your name to the "no delivery" section on the newsletter signup page.
I encourage everyone to make regular visits to the College Football Portal and perhaps make it your Wikipedia entry page instead of using the Main Page as your gateway. Nominations for selected articles and pictures are always welcome, and can serve as a great way to show off that new article you just shepherded to Good Article status or the great picture you took the last time you were at a game.
Comments and suggestions on improving the newsletter are always welcome, and help me improve it on a monthly basis. Keep contributing and editing, and don't hesitate to contact me or post on the College Football Wikiproject talk page if you need help or just want someone to look over your article.
New high-rank articles
Skip Holtz - Promoted to Good Article status on April 12.
He wore 35 at WVU, and Seahawks don't have a #35, and it's posted on that site with all the new players' numbers. Need any more proof? Refrain from getting smart with me. :\
Did you seriously get upset over the internet? You got smart, I told you not to because I proved that I was right. You need to chill out and not take that as a big personal insult. I did prove it, though, so no reason to get all pissy, chief. --UTC 01:33 AM, 4 May 2008. L-Burna

There's still more than two months until the 2008-2009 college football season kicks off, but that's no reason to stop editing! Plenty of historical articles, such as past bowl games, need to be written, and editors are always needed to update teams' season articles. Don't fall into the summer malaise — check out the to-do list on the Wikiproject College football talk page.
Wikiproject College Football recently created its first featured topic, ACC football championship games. Featured topics are collections of good- or featured-level articles, and represent the apex of featured content on Wikipedia. If you have multiple good or featured articles that can be connected by a common topic or article, consider submitting them as a featured article. There are currently very few featured topics and even fewer sports featured topics.
Several NAIA coaches' articles (ex. Ronald Beard) were nominated for deletion, but were rescued by editors.
Paul McDonald has created a formal draft of notability requirements for college football articles at Wikipedia:WikiProject College Football/Notability. This is an updated draft of the older proposed guidelines and goes into far more detail. All editors of college football articles are requested to examine the document and leave comments or suggestions. If implemented, it will affect future AfD discussions dealing with college football articles.
The College Football Portal needs more pictures scheduled. Do you have a great picture that illustrates the best of college football? Consider adding it to the featured image queue on the portal.

First of all, remain civil. Second, the article was in horrific shape and its "programming" content had absolutely nothing to do with the subject. The logos were also removed because WP:FU specifies that those images are copyrighted and their use in multiple articles compromises their fair use status. The edits I've made are only part of a longer expansion process that intends to give the articles its much-needed qualities that our wikiproject's featured articles already have. Once again, remain civil, as this process doesn't happen over night and will probably last a few weeks as other experienced WP:PW editors take a crack at improving the article. If the rant you posted on my talk page is in direct response to me removing the content that you added to the article please note that per WP:OWN you do not own the article and it can be edited on freely. Wow considering what you said on my talk page, you know absolutely nothing about the Era. The Attitude Era didn't start with Austin's 3:16 speech. That just marked Austin's rise to stardom. The Attitude Era as stated in his 3 disk Anthology, the Monday Night Wars DVD, and hell even Austin's own article, started when he won the WWF Championship at WrestleMania XIV. --UnquestionableTruth--21:13, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed your last comment at 3bulletproof16's talkpage. You said PPV's are italicalized. See here where it clearly says: Pay-per-view events are to be written with no italics. Just thought I'd let you know. D.M.N. (talk) 18:14, 29 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You are taking too many irrelevant things into consideration to make an argument. Arena lighting, color schemes, and logo changes have nothing to do with what the Attitude Era was. However, if you do want to go through that alley to make an argument, when was the first time the WWF scratch logo was used at an event? When was the first time the "Attitude" tagline was used below the WWF logo during event intros? It was at WrestleMania XIV and afterwards. Hmm oddly enough it was also the event in which Stone Cold Steve Austin won his first WWF Championship. Hmm even more odd than that, it marked the first time the tide of the Monday Night Wars started changing to the WWF's favor. ...Is it possible that these are the reasons as to why WWE themselves consider the Attitude Era to have started with Austin winning the WWF title as they state in the Monday Night Wars DVD and Austin's Legacy DVD? Hmmm. Now as things stands right now, its your original research vs. WWE's word. I think we both know who wins here. --UnquestionableTruth--20:41, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
