Teahouse

Hi. Just wanted to let you know I reverted your closure of a thread at Teahouse. With a very very few exceptions, we don't close threads at Teahouse. The only time we do it is when it's purely disruption, and that is best left to the handful of admin that hang out at the Teahouse. The idea I think is to leave it open for further questions from the OP and for further explanation by other hosts. October 2017

Information icon Hello, I'm Zackmann08. Thank you for your recent contributions to Sterling Ranch, Colorado. I noticed that when you added the image to the infobox, you added it as a thumbnail. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:

|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]

Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg.

There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks! @VGmanagement Sure. I reverted your edits because they removed a section, Live Appearances, without explaining why. If you believe that the section was error-ful, then I would advise to change the section or explain in your edit summary. @Bmelville To start, feel free to use the edit summary. This will give people a reasoning on why you are doing the thing you are doing. This can be very helpful. Hi - re the Best Loved Game edit I made, I disagree it was not constructive. That page has some issues, and the section I deleted was one of them. It was purely a (greatly over-simplified) personal reflection on recent changes in cricket and had little if anything to do with the article, which is about a book published in 1978. Hello. I believe that my warning was made in error. I will remove it. But, in the future, I would recommend to create an account. Vandalism happens more over IP's, so they are filtered for review more. I apologize, and will remove the warning.
Thanks for removing the warning. I take your point about accounts, but I would also say that I'd left a clear description of the reason for my edit in the edit comments box, which made it clear it wasn't vandalism. Checking what had been deleted against the rest of the article would also have helped you to see it was constructive and not vandalism. @198.13.236.156: If you are in the source editor, then you can use the cite button at the top of your screen. Position your cursor after the relevant data, and then hit Cite. This will open up a text box. Paste your link into there and hit save > Save changes. This should cite your source. Let me know if you have any issues. Hi Cocohead It is a fundamental principle of Wikipedia that content requires SOURCES, which means there must be CITATIONS. It is not a blog where people get to include their own personal opinions. Neither of the items that I removed have citations. One had been marked as 'citation needed' for 5 YEARS. @2.30.255.13: While it is correct stating that it has been marked for 5 years, I see no policy that prohibits citation needed tags after 5 years. Of course, I may be wrong, feel free to correct me. Cocohead781 any content that is uncited can be removed at any time by any user. All content in Wikipedia must be verifiable, and the burden of evidence is on the person restoring the content . This is our most core content policy, and reverting an IP user with it via Huggle and warning them was inappropriate. I'd also like to suggest that you slow down on Huggle and focus on patrolling recent changes for now. You have a fair amount of complaints about your vandal patrolling on this talk page, which suggests you need to slow down, and cutting out the automation to learn how to recognize vandalism manually is in my mind a good way forward. Review of BMT Fourth Avenue Line

Hi, I see you recently reviewed BMT Fourth Avenue Line and it appeared to be your first review. My only concern is that it seemed to have taken you only 20mins to review then pass immediately, which does concern me. Can you be sure all spelling and grammar is correct, and that you have checked the prose written against every reference to ensure it matches up? Even for an experienced reviewer, it would often take them a fair bit longer on an article of that size, with 80+ references.. certainly alot more than 20 minutes. The very quick turnaround concerns me, as there have been instances before where reviews have been reverted if it's apparent the undertaking was not done thouroughly.   • Because of the holidays the next issue of Tech News will be sent out on 8 January 2018.

Problems

  • When you import a page from another wiki the usernames of the users who edited the article on the wiki you imported it from are shown in the article history. This should link to the users on the original wiki. A script to fix this caused problems for Wikidata and German Wikipedia. It also created a large number of SUL accounts on wikis where editors had never edited. [8]
  • Some bot owners got email about their bots logging in from a new computer. If this is from one or a couple of wikis, you can turn these messages off in your preferences on those wikis until the problem has been solved. If not, you can report more about the problem in Phabricator.

Of course incorrect information is frowned upon. The best way to edit the page (or any page with a COI) is to file a edit request on the article's talk page. You can find the talk page link on the top of the article. Cocohead781 (talk) 19:11, 23 May 2018 (UTC)


At least change his son's name.... his son isn't called Richard - it's Harry. And if you type House of Lords Select Committee on Artificial Intelligence into Google, you'll find plenty of up to date information on Tim if you do want to take any of my correct edits on board. This short interlude has made me realise that Wikipedia, like many say, is not up to date or based on fact.

@Simonneed:It does sound like you have something to add to the English Wikipedia. The wiki only updates when allowed by all of it's policies, and a COI editor can do some really nasty things, so the community as a whole has decided that COI editing should not be allowed. In it's place, a edit request can be posted, requesting that the article be edited. The only requirements for starting an edit request is a summary of changes and a Reliable Source. After that, an editor will come by and make your change you requested on the article, granted he accepts it. If you need help starting a edit request, I am always here to help you. ArbCom 2018 election voter message

Hello, Cocohead781. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
