The Nuke feature, which enables administrators to mass delete pages, will now correctly delete pages which were moved to another title. [1]
New changes have been made to the UploadWizard in Wikimedia Commons: the overall layout has been improved, by following new styling and spacing for the form and its fields; the headers and helper text for each of the fields was changed; the Caption field is now a required field, and there is an option for users to copy their caption into the media description. [2][3]
Changes later this week
The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 21 May. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 22 May. It will be on all wikis from 23 May (calendar). [4][5]
The HTML used to render all headings is being changed to improve accessibility. It will change on 22 May in some skins (Timeless, Modern, CologneBlue, Nostalgia, and Monobook). Please test gadgets on your wiki on these skins and report any related problems so that they can be resolved before this change is made in all other skins. The developers are also considering the introduction of a Gadget API for adding buttons to section titles if that would be helpful to tool creators, and would appreciate any input you have on that.
Hi, I've been trying to make an additional to the profile page on Kim Cadzow, a New Zealand Cyclist but somebody called EasyAsPie keeps undoing the additional last paragraph and I don't know why? Any suggestions? --Wikinewbienz (talk) 02:47, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
@Wikinewbienz, I can see from the page's history that that user did not revert the change a fourth time, which would have consisted a violation of the WP:3RR rule. Instead, they added a citation to back up the statement that you added. Next time, please know that any statements about a living person likely to be challenged that you add must have a reliable source to back it up per WP:BLPRS. Let me know if you have other questions!Cheers, Cocobb8 (💬 talk • ✏️ contribs) 10:01, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
Feedback request: History and geography request for comment
So I have made one Wikipedia edit which changed the term steam locomotive to steam driven locomotive which I thought was a good improvement as it was more descriptive and it has been reverted do you have any reason why I don’t see a reason why someone would do this how do I prevent my edits from being reverted --Mikeshardlemonaids (talk) 01:31, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
Hi @Mikeshardlemonaids, I see that you re-added the change. I personally would agree with the change you propose. If the editor who reverted your edit feels like it should be reverted a second time, they would not do so as it would constitute a violation of the WP:3RR rule. Instead, they would contact you on your talk page or the article's talk page to find consensus. Cocobb8 (💬 talk • ✏️ contribs) 13:13, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
hello my mentor. Can you tell me where the information is added to Wikipedia. Or for how long or on which page it has been reflected. Son, I have updated a little information in Hindi. --Pushpendra8909 (talk) 08:44, 26 May 2024 (UTC)
Hello @Pushpendra8909! I'm not totally sure what you are asking for here, but if I understand, you are asking who updates Wikipedia and when that happens. Editors like you and I voluntarily update Wikipedia, and as for when that happens, it's when an editor comes accrooss something they wish to update.Hoping that answers your question, Cocobb8 (💬 talk • ✏️ contribs) 13:44, 26 May 2024 (UTC)
Hello! I was hoping to get a page about a band created, however there aren't many sources for the band. Any recommendations for any reliable sources that maybe beneficial? --Rhythmguitar2024 (talk) 12:04, 26 May 2024 (UTC)

Recent changes
Several bugs related to the latest updates to the UploadWizard on Wikimedia Commons have been fixed. For more information, see T365107 and T365119.
In March 2024 a new addPortlet API was added to allow gadgets to create new portlets (menus) in the skin. In certain skins this can be used to create dropdowns. Gadget developers are invited to try it and give feedback.
Some CSS in the Minerva skin has been removed to enable easier community configuration. Interface editors should check the rendering on mobile devices for aspects related to the classes: .collapsible, .multicol, .reflist, .coordinates, .topicon. Further details are available on replacement CSS if it is needed.

The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 28 May. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 29 May. It will be on all wikis from 30 May (calendar). [6][7]
When you visit a wiki where you don't yet have a local account, local rules such as edit filters can sometimes prevent your account from being created. Starting this week, MediaWiki takes your global rights into account when evaluating whether you can override such local rules. [8]
I am multilingual and sometimes flip between article languages depending on which has the most updated/full information and better citations/sources available. Do you know if it's alright to add more information to an article if I find sources for it that are in another language? --LaPinyaColada (talk) 00:21, 31 May 2024 (UTC)
@LaPinyaColada, absolutely! Different-language sources are totally allowed per WP:NOENG, though English-language sources are preferred whenever possible. Nowadays, with translation tools built-in many web browsers, it is quite easy to translate foreign-lanugage websites into english.Let me know if you have other questions!Cheers, Cocobb8 (💬 talk • ✏️ contribs) 10:01, 31 May 2024 (UTC)
Just for future reference, how would I make pages actually redirect there? I don't think it's safe to link a bunch of pages to this template because of a 'transcending bug' or something
Is it possible to make a buncu of non existent pages redirect to a page from search, or is that too dangerous to allow?
Thanks

Wow thanks for pointing that out. (I have no clue what I was thinking, I thought you had moved stuff around and added an unsourced paragraph) Undone. Apologies! I also removed the message from your talk page :). Cocobb8 (💬 talk • ✏️ contribs) 21:35, 9 June 2024 (UTC)

The software used to render SVG files has been updated to a new version, fixing many longstanding bugs in SVG rendering. [14]
The HTML used to render all headings is being changed to improve accessibility. It was changed last week in some skins (Vector legacy and Minerva). Please test gadgets on your wiki on these skins and report any related problems so that they can be resolved before this change is made in Vector-2022. The developers are still considering the introduction of a Gadget API for adding buttons to section titles if that would be helpful to tool creators, and would appreciate any input you have on that.
The HTML markup used for citations by Parsoid changed last week. In places where Parsoid previously added the mw-reference-text class, Parsoid now also adds the reference-text class for better compatibility with the legacy parser. More details are available. [15]
Problems
There was a bug with the Content Translation interface that caused the tools menus to appear in the wrong location. This has now been fixed. [16]
Changes later this week
The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 11 June. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 12 June. It will be on all wikis from 13 June (calendar). [17][18]
The new version of MediaWiki includes another change to the HTML markup used for citations: Parsoid will now generate a <span class="mw-cite-backlink"> wrapper for both named and unnamed references for better compatibility with the legacy parser. Interface administrators should verify that gadgets that interact with citations are compatible with the new markup. More details are available. [19]
On multilingual wikis that use the <translate> system, there is a feature that shows potentially-outdated translations with a pink background until they are updated or confirmed. From this week, confirming translations will be logged, and there is a new user-right that can be required for confirming translations if the community requests it. [20]
Hello @Priyam1809, and welcome to Wikipedia!I'd first like to warn you about a couple of points. First, writing an article is about the hardest thing you can do on Wikipedia, and if this is your first time editing, I highly discourage you from starting that way. Instead, there are other smaller tasks that you can do to get started knowing the ropes of this online encyclopedia. Second, I'd also like to point out that Wikipedia is not a means to promote your business. It is an encyclopedia, not a blog, and will only accepts articles about companies if these meet the notability crtieria. So, if these two points did not succeed in discouraging you from writing an article about your own company, you may check out this complete help topic on creating an article. Note that, most important of all, you will need to declare that you are being paid to edit.Let me know if you have any questions!Cheers, Cocobb8 (💬 talk • ✏️ contribs) 12:56, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
Hello I don’t really want to edit nothing I made to set up a page for me I am a influencer and wanted to get information about me on here for my followers thank you for helping me I truly appreciate you. --Angelheartsyouu (talk) 19:08, 14 June 2024 (UTC)
Hello @Priyam1809, and welcome to Wikipedia! For general guidance on creating a page about yourself: Wikipedia:Autobiography. It is highly discouraged, but possible if you follow Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and if you have coverage in multiple independent, secondary reliable sources.Let me know if you have any questions!Cheers, Cocobb8 (💬 talk • ✏️ contribs) 20:38, 14 June 2024 (UTC)
You seem to be all over my mistakes, which is terrific. Because there aren't enough people to tell me I'M WRONG. I'm not wrong - I just don't know how to provide factual information. I didn't know people would be so rude. I'm trying to figure out how to provide factual, verifiable information, but no one seems to want to tell me how to do that, including you.
Nor do I know where or how to state that I am employed by Brigham and Women's Hospital. I hate Wikipedia and will never donate again.
@DWB Executive Assistant, I have done my best to be as informative as I could in this thread. I have provided you with links on how to declare your conflict-of-interest, and I don't see where I was being rude/trolling (examples would help before making such accusations). Cheers, Cocobb8 (💬 talk • ✏️ contribs) 15:25, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
Avoid relisting for the 3rd time
Happy to see you participating in the meta of the Xfprocess. Nobody should be relisting for the third time. Even frequent 3rd time relisters know this (and shed a little tear when they must do so). Let admins make the calls which might be later disputed. On the other hand I strongly encourage you to keep making bold choices, some of which might later turn out to be sub-optimal. No harm here, and if I didn't care about your efforts I'd have stayed silent. You're doing fine by me. BusterD (talk) 15:33, 17 June 2024 (UTC)

People who attempt to add an external link in the visual editor will now receive immediate feedback if they attempt to link to a domain that a project has decided to block. Please see Edit check for more details. [21]
The dark mode beta feature is now available on category and help pages, as well as more special pages. There may be contrast issues. Please report bugs on the project talk page. [24]
Problems
Cloud Services tools were not available for 25 minutes last week. This was caused by a faulty hardware cable in the data center. [25]
Last week, styling updates were made to the Vector 2022 skin. This caused unforeseen issues with templates, hatnotes, and images. Changes to templates and hatnotes were reverted. Most issues with images were fixed. If you still see any, report them here. [26]
Changes later this week
The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 18 June. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 19 June. It will be on all wikis from 20 June (calendar). [27][28]
Starting June 18, the Reference Edit Check will be deployed to a new set of Wikipedias. This feature is intended to help newcomers and to assist edit-patrollers by inviting people who are adding new content to a Wikipedia article to add a citation when they do not do so themselves. During a test at 11 wikis, the number of citations added more than doubled when Reference Check was shown to people. Reference Check is community configurable. [29]
Mailing lists will be unavailable for roughly two hours on Tuesday 10:00–12:00 UTC. This is to enable migration to a new server and upgrade its software. [30]
I just wanted to say thank you for looking into and contributing edits to my first page I created: Draft:Mark Kotter I welcome any recommendations on what needs to be improved so that article would pass next review and get published. Thank you for helping.
Hi @Damjana12! Thanks for reaching out for improving the draft .I've taken a look at the draft, and have a few comments:
The picture you uploaded is listed as "own work". I would assume you are the person who this draft is about? If so, note that you must disclose that as it constitutes a conflict-of-interest. Instructions on how to do so here.
The first time the person is mentioned, they full name should be used, which is what you did. The times after that, they should only be referred to by their last name. A complete guide on how that works here.
Section titles should be capitalized (only the first letter)
Use citations to your own publishings sparingly, per WP:SELFCITING.
Try to keep the sources to those that show independent, secondary, significant coverage (i.e. reliable sources) of yourself, as this will help demonstrating that you are notable (by Wikipedia's standards). Though, you will see that there are alternative criteria there, but sources are the best way to demonstrate notability.
Thank you so much for helping, your feedback and links to resources. Will look at it now and try to further improve. This is my first article so I'm still learning but it is very interesting and I would like to contribute more in the future once I get the basics right with this one. I took the picture myself after a conference on networking event, Mark had an interesting talk there and I thought to build a page about the interesting work he has been doing.
@Damjana12, thanks for clarifying! If you do not know them personally, that would not constitute a conflict of interest, so no need to disclose it. Let me know if you encounter issues or have other questions as you work on the draft. Cheers, Cocobb8 (💬 talk • ✏️ contribs) 19:24, 19 June 2024 (UTC)
Thank you again I've read the links and went to edit what you recommended, I appreciate your support on this. Damjana12 (talk) 20:11, 19 June 2024 (UTC)
WP:Articles for deletion/Chumbak TV closing statement
Hello @Mathemagicians, what page would this be about, and what specifically needs to be updated? You should be able to edit the page yourself (unless it has some kind of protection). Cocobb8 (💬 talk • ✏️ contribs) 13:17, 19 June 2024 (UTC)
Help with references
Hey, you declined my article submission for "The Wind (South Korean band)", and I was wonder if you could help me with references? You said you'd like to see a reduction in Twitter as a source (understandable) but I couldn't find more reliable sources for the places where I referenced Twitter. One of the member reveals seems to have been reported on by a news site (I have added this to the draft article), but not the others. Also, An Chanwon coming back from hiatus was not reported on anywhere, and it was only semi-confirmed by him being included in posts on the group's socials (he has since performed with the group so he is definitely back). What do you suggest I do to fix this and bring the article up to standard? Octoflops (talk) 13:35, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
No worries, @Octoflops. The draft was on a really good way, and the reason why I declined it was quite a minor thought. I should probably have accepted it and tagged it for improvements later on, but it has been already published in the mainspace. Cheers! Cocobb8 (💬 talk • ✏️ contribs) 14:31, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
