User talk:Caroig/Archive 1GeneralCheers, Sam [Spade] 22:07, 26 May 2004 (UTC) Actually, referred is the correct spelling in both American and British English. For example Merriam-Webster's dictionary or dictionary.com. Maximus Rex 12:34, 1 Jul 2004 (UTC) Jicín city templateI replaced the city template with simpler (and non-tenmplated table) as some of items here were of low relevancy (time zone) or completely misleading (population density) or hard to maintain on English Wikipedia (mayors). User:Mikeshk had created much simpler version, used in Chlumec nad Cidlinou. This may be considered as base for standardized template used in the future. Perhaps you may express your opinion on Mikeshk talk page or template talk page. Pavel Vozenilek 22:17, 31 May 2005 (UTC) Jicin galleryI've changed back to previous version. I agree with you that the photos are too small, but there are also some problems with current solution: the photos take often too much place (on 1024x768 its 3 rows of quite big photos, around 1/3 of the whole article height) and the placing depends much on the resolution of the screen. Wouldn't it be better to attach only 1 - 3 photos here and make a link to the gallery in wiki commons? Or to place some of the photos in the text, not below? --Akumiszcza 13:32, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC) city templateI quite like the template. But I think mayors should not be added: this information is too volatile to be maintainable over long time (and of rather low relevancy on English Wiki).
InfoboxesThanks for your work. I'll start to use them and convert existing tables/pictures (but do not expect anything rapid, I am way too lazy). You may suggest to use these tamples/pictures on Czech Wiki to get uniform style and improve quality a bit. What name should Jicin have been moved to? —Morven June 28, 2005 06:36 (UTC)
Question: coordinates, elevationWhere do you find these data? Is there some reliable website with easy lokup for them? Pavel Vozenilek 02:50, 9 August 2005 (UTC)
term Czechia vs Czech RepublicPerhaps name "Czech Republic" should be used consistently in infoboxes: it is standard and widely used name. Last but non least it infuriates User:NoPuzzleStranger to change this and other names (see current revert wars on Plzen and Ceske Budejovice). Pavel Vozenilek 00:29, 15 August 2005 (UTC)
Progress reportI have aim to create (at least) stub for every Czech town and village, properly categorised, with location map from Commons, with link to municipal website and interwiki. Such a skeleton should help people to add meat into the articles. Currently I am somewhere around 1%, there are couple of hundredths of them, and I am very slowly working through. I estimate this will take year or two to finish it. I use your map and put all new maps into Commons. When I find some, I replace an old map with new version, too.
Re: Infobox TownOriginal message: User talk:GrafZahl#Infobox Town Firstly, I've to admit that I don't know much about template juggling (actually, until the day before yesterday I didn't know anything at all about it). Reading m:Help:Template#Restrictions on parameter values I'd say you can't make whole cells vanish (at least not with the obvious method) since any pipe signs in the parameters would have to be put between nowiki tags, in turn making their use as cell separators impossible. I haven't tried it though. Furthermore, even if you could make a table cell vanish, it would destroy the alternating colour scheme of the table (not an issue in this special case since you only want to make the very first and very last cell possibly vanish). Having an additional template syntax à la PHP would be nice (making templates "real" subroutines) but might prove a problem regarding efficiency. --GrafZahl 22:13, 21 October 2005 (UTC) Hi, I think you need to list Template:Infobox Town noC and other redundant templates at Templates for deletion. I don't think they fall under WP:CSD. Rd232 talk 23:22, 22 October 2005 (UTC)
Infoboxes and government portal pagesPerhaps infobox for a town/village may have link to government portal page for the municipality [4]. E.g. Kladno has page [5]. The portal contains lot of details and is hopefully kept up-to-date. (at least the government pays 100 million CZK per year for maintenance). There may be small icon somewhere inside the box linking directly to such page. The icon would have tooltip explaining its purpose. Pavel Vozenilek 22:42, 24 October 2005 (UTC) VFD on Czech ResourcesVote for delete is running on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Czech Resources. IMO the content should be on your page since no thing like portal for Czech Republic exists. You may say a word there. Pavel Vozenilek 01:40, 13 December 2005 (UTC) You should move this back to your User: area. It doees not belong with the encylopedia pages. I put an AfD on the page, but now I regret doing so. I should have just done a {{[[Template:|]]}}. -- Fplay 07:53, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
Can this test template be deleted? If so, please mark it for speedy deletion, since you are the only author. -- Netoholic @ 05:50, 15 January 2006 (UTC) Wikics templateHi Caroig! I've just created a new template to indicate English Wikipedia users who also contribute to the Czech Wikipedia. Feel free to add it to your userboxes if you like it (and if you actually contribute). Happy Easter. Daniel Šebesta (talk • contribs) 13:02, 14 April 2006 (UTC) TepliceHi, I sow that you wrote about Teplice. I was born in this city and would like to talk to you about the histoty of Teplice. Please write back. Thanks. Karlovy VaryYou're kidding me, right? "Wholly unnatural" colors? And you live in Prague?! That photo is a great example of just how beautiful a city Karlovy Vary is (and other cities that are similar with such striking colors). The colors cannot be 'unnatural' because that is a photo of exactly what the city looks like! If you don't like the fact that they color the buildings that way, I guess that is your opinion. But you can't remove a photo just because you don't like the colors. You know - a very 'communisitic' approach was to ignore color. Maybe that is why they chose to color the buildings that way, to be different. --Ragimiri 07:50, 28 December 2006 (UTC) |
