The Community Wishlist Survey 2023 edition has been concluded. Community Tech has published the results of the survey and will provide an update on what is next in April 2023.
On wikis which use LanguageConverter to handle multiple writing systems, articles which used custom conversion rules in the wikitext (primarily on Chinese Wikipedia) would have these rules applied inconsistently in the table of contents, especially in the Vector 2022 skin. This has now been fixed. [1]

The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 7 March. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 8 March. It will be on all wikis from 9 March (calendar).
A search system has been added to the Preferences screen. This will let you find different options more easily. Making it work on mobile devices will happen soon. [2]
Need For Speed World - clarification on performance upgrades
Just after "In the initial release of version 4 (July 20, 2010) ... performance upgrade kits" you added a clarification "Why this update specifically? Were performance upgrades not available in the initial release of the game?" The text specifically mentions "initial release", July 20, 2010, which was the release date for players that purchased a starter pack. The free to play release date was July 27, 2010. It was version 4.0. The point here is that the in game cash performance upgrade kits were always there in the initial release, but removed on November 16, 2010 with the release of version 5.0, which replaced the in game cash upgrade kits with performance parts, with relatively low odds of getting the best parts from lucky draw cards at end of any event. In order to maximize revenue, players couldn't just spend real money to buy parts, and instead could only gamble with real money for parts buy purchasing card packs which would have one random part, and low odds of being a part a player wanted.
The gambling aspect would now be illegal in some or most states in the USA. Later games that had similar gambling with real money for in game content claimed it wasn't illegal because the content was not real and had no worth, but in a lower court case followed up by a district court case judgement, the courts stated the obvious that the fact that if players were gambling with real money in attempt to win in game content, the in game content had real value to those players. A later case compared such content similar to crypto-currency.
Getting back to the initial release, for the original concept and initial release of the game, the only thing players could buy with real money on were amplifiers that doubled rewards (rep and in game cash), powerups, and 2 car slots in addition to the free 3 car slots. Players won powerups from lucky draw cards at the end of a race, and could spend time doing single player events to accumulate powerups rather than purchase them with real money. Other than 2 car slots, real money only saved some time, and all content other than the 2 additional slots was free.
Since it was a low budget effort based on maps, visuals, car models, ..., from prior games, the team did not need or expect much revenue from the game. With a large number of players, even a small fraction spending small amounts of money would be sufficient. However, management wanted to turn the game into a cash cow, and had the team was ordered to stop making improvements to the game or even complete the map, and instead focus on making changes to the game that would increase revenue. Honestly, I can't either. But that's what happens when you WP:AGF. You're surprised when they're revealed to have deceived you. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#654516:35, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
You're right. THat was my bad. I had simply done a Ctrl + F in the article for Switzerland and nothing came up so I assumed it did go to Switzerland. I'll go ahead and self revert. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#654519:36, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
You've changed my revision twice now where I was correcting what other people changed when they shouldn't have, since it was two separate people from what I could tell there didn't seem to be a dispute with a specific person, but now you have targeted me twice for disruptive editing even though I was simply restoring the page. I know you aren't editing due to the actual content because the source has been left alone even though the source is there for my edit. I am just making sure others are not messing with the page same as you are. BookishTachyon (talk) 16:10, 13 March 2023 (UTC)
I'm not going to watch the entire Youtube video. If you can provide a timestamp I will watch that timestamp. But you claiming its in the source doesn't work per WP:BURDEN. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#654516:29, 13 March 2023 (UTC)
The video already has provided timestamps in the description, I am going off of the character relationships part. Pierre Perifel is directly asked if he thinks Mr. Wolf and Mr. Snake have more to their relationship than just being friends. Pierre says that although he personally did not think so, they could be. I am doing my best to reflect this possible reading of the film. BookishTachyon (talk) 16:38, 13 March 2023 (UTC)

Okay so, the area on the infobox used to say "3,628 square kilometers", but for some dumb reason, it now says "4,000 sq km". Now, being honest, the true area of Ingushetia doesn't exist, as the border of Ingushetia with Chechnya has not been demarcated. Still though. So, what do you say? Are you going to change back the edit or leave it like it is? I'm not trying to be mean, i'm trying to offer you something. The choice is yours. 2601:280:4F81:4490:D9E8:37CF:D62:BC68 (talk) 02:52, 16 March 2023 (UTC)

That's not relevant. Provide a source stating this happened in the movie cause I'm sure RSes have covered it if it really did happen. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#654519:49, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
Pocomoke High School Page
I wanted to let you know I uploaded the logo so you could check if there was anything wrong with it but also in the sports section I was wondering if it should be changed so it isn't formatted into really long tables like it currently is. Thanks and have a good day! SkyTheWolf (Talk) 13:13, 17 March 2023 (UTC)
The recent edit is misleading, because it doesn't distinguish the total area itself. The Netherlands has it's own website, and there is information that shows how big it really is. http://www.waarstaatjeprovincie.nl/Paginas/Ruimtelijke%20ordening/Oppervlakte.aspx
I also can't see any source saying that it's 41,850 square kilometers. And i forgot to tell you that the official Dutch website actually says that the Netherlands is 41,865 square kilometers. So, i suggest you correct the mistake. I'm waiting for it as heck. And may i tell you the person who edited the area section? It's edited by a user by the name of Locked Empire. You shall revert that edit he made. By the way, he edited it in October 12th of 2022. Also, give him a warning that his edit wasn't constructive. You can do it by going to his talk page. Thank you 2601:280:4F81:4490:D9E8:37CF:D62:BC68 (talk) 00:09, 19 March 2023 (UTC)
Done but not to what you suggested since the CIA source lists it as 41,543 km2 and not 41,865. I'll check the Dutch website and if it says 41,865 then I'll bring it up on the talk page. No reason to warn them for an edit they made many months ago. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#654500:40, 19 March 2023 (UTC)
And so does the official EU website along with various other websites (admittedly the EU only says 41,540 but that's most likely just due to rounding) ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#654500:47, 19 March 2023 (UTC)
I know that this source is used in multiple websites, but technically the Netherlands controls Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao ect, and all of these islands make it 322 sq km bigger. But since most sources say that the Netherlands is 41,543 sq km, i guess the 41,865 sq km thing doesn't matter anyways. 2601:280:4F81:4490:D9E8:37CF:D62:BC68 (talk) 01:11, 19 March 2023 (UTC)
Ya the ranking article mentioned that. If I find sources mentioning those island it might be worth an efn. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#654501:16, 19 March 2023 (UTC)
10,000+ Edit Barnstar?
Hello to you... ^^ It is I, TheMysteriousShadeheart; you perhaps remember me best as the user who, along with your own efforts, prevented an editing war at Wings of Fire when controversial user CC8200 attempted to start one. The battle may be far from over (countless anonymous IP sockpuppets/vandals after said user was banned) - however, I thought it might be nice to leave something for you on your talk page. More specifically, this:
Congratulations! You are eligible to display the 10,000 Edit Barnstar personal user award on your user page for your outstanding, voluminous long-term contributions to Wikipedia. You are greatly appreciated by many for your relentless commitment to the project. I for one am rather amazed by the amount of effort - always bringing both quality and quality - and in how you boldly hold nothing back with your no-nonsense, admirable standards (which have kept out an absolutely imsurmountable amount of vandalism, fancruft and questionable material over the years) coupled with your approachability and willingness to assume the best of others.
Again, thank you for everything. Inconsistent though I may be, I'm here whenever you need me (am considering semi-retirement myself) - and feel free to drop me a message should you ever have questions, comments or concerns (or would just like to say hello). Do remember how your hard work has paid off! And take care~! ^^
Hello Shadeheart, and thank you so much for this! I don't thinks it's a sock of CC8200 based on their behavior so far, and they also haven't restored any edits by them. But we will have to see. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#654519:28, 19 March 2023 (UTC)

The proposed article is not suitable for Wikipedia
You rejected an article I wrote summarizing the novel "Stars and Stripes Forever" by Harry Harrison. I've since made edits adding some things like a critical review of the book with reference, but frankly there is nothing different in this article from already published pages on other novels, for example, the extensive series of articles on Patrick O'Brien's Aubrey-Maturin series.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Master_and_Commander
You can continue to allow the dead link in the Trilogy page to sit out there, or you can let me populate it with free labor.
These articles have to start somewhere. Give it a chance. Bluemanredman (talk) 15:28, 20 March 2023 (UTC)
Never mind, found it. Problem is easy to see, a long plot. And needs a bit more real world information (sales figures, things like that). But good work on the plot, lots of work went into the page and hopefully it can be mainspaced with some editing. Randy Kryn (talk) 15:37, 20 March 2023 (UTC)
Randy is correct, the issue I had with the draft was that the vast majority of the draft was simply just the plot of the novel (not really much of a summary with how long it is) 16:31, 20 March 2023 (UTC) ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#654516:31, 20 March 2023 (UTC)
In order for the draft to become an article, it needs reliable sources and the plot needs some trimming. As far as I can tell, the plot is very long and the article in general is in poor shape. And plus, the draft isn't rejected, it is declined! Rejecting an article disables the ability to re-submit the article, but Blaze has given the chance for you to improve the draft and re-submit once it is sufficient and in good shape! TailsWx16:41, 20 March 2023 (UTC)
The book is 368 pages, which I condensed to 1800 words.
I added in a note about its critical reception and linked out to it, so the article is no longer just a plot summary.
The "reliable source" is the print book, which you will have to read for yourself because a synopsis of the book doesn't exist online. (If only there were a website written and edited by volunteers where one could read the plot summary of a book.....)
If you don't have time for pedantry then you clearly have no reason to be editing Wikipedia. Just because the book is 368 pages does not mean the plot summary has to be extremely long. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is, according to Google, 336 pages, however the plot summary is way shorter than yours. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#654517:40, 20 March 2023 (UTC)

I'm new and want to start a new page on the french academies set up under Louis XIV in the baroque period. I have source references from my college text book, and I believe there are six of them. The Royal Academies of science, architecture, music, dance, sculpture, and painting. I am willing to do more research with source citations and build the page as I go, or wait till it is substantial enough to publish. Eather way, I am writing to you to ask for tips and help as I am new at this.
Um, why would there be consensus that Horizons is apart of the same show. Since it has different protagonists, I don't think its the same show. BaldiBasicsFan (talk) 14:28, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
@BaldiBasicsFan: Why would the show having different protagonists mean it's not part of the same series? By that logic all of the different seasons of the Ash era would be different seasons (with the exception of the first few) since Ash was the only one that was consistent across all of them with him having different companions. I can't think of any other examples immediately, however having different protagonists doesn't mean it's a new show. Especially since it's still seeming to be marketed as part of the ongoing series (yes it's marketed as "Pokemon Horizons: The Series" but Journeys was marketed the same way). ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#654514:34, 27 March 2023 (UTC)

Community Ambassadors completed an initial evaluation that confirmed that prioritizing underlinked articles resulted in better article suggestions. We then evaluated the change on Growth pilot wikis, and results suggest that more newcomers are successfully completing the task and experiencing fewer reverts. We have now deployed the new prioritization model to all wikis with "add a link" enabled. [12][13]
We continue the deployment of "add a link" to more wikis. These changes are regularly announced in Tech News. To know if newcomers at your wiki have access to this feature, please visit your Homepage.
The Impact module was deployed on our pilot wikis, where we conducted an A/B test. We published initial findings, and a data scientist is now completing experiment analysis. [14]

The system for automatically creating categories for the Babel extension has had several important changes and fixes. One of them allows you to insert templates for automatic category descriptions on creation, allowing you to categorize the new categories. [19][20][21][22][23]

Some older Web browsers will stop being able to use JavaScript on Wikimedia wikis from this week. This mainly affects users of Internet Explorer 11. If you have an old web browser on your computer you can try to upgrade to a newer version. [24]
The deprecated jquery.hoverIntent module has been removed. This module could be used by gadgets and user scripts, to create an artificial delay in how JavaScript responds to a hover event. Gadgets and user scripts should now use jQuery hover() or on() instead. Examples can be found in the migration guide. [25]
Some of the links in Special:SpecialPages will be re-arranged. There will be a clearer separation between links that relate to all users, and links related to your own user account. [26]
You will be able to hide the Reply button in archived discussion pages with a new __ARCHIVEDTALK__ magic word. There will also be a new .mw-archivedtalk CSS class for hiding the Reply button in individual sections on a page. [27][28][29]
Future changes
The Vega software that creates data visualizations in pages, such as graphs, will be upgraded to the newest version in the future. Graphs that still use the very old version 1.5 syntax may stop working properly. Most existing uses have been found and updated, but you can help to check, and to update any local documentation. Examples of how to find and fix these graphs are available.

@Montbur: Hello Montbur! With the citation you say you have, are you referring to a citation for the information you added to the Vostok 1 article? Also, my fursona is my username, Blaze Wolf. I have an image of him that I had someone make for me, however due to copyright laws (you don't have to formally apply for copyright as you technically automatically gain copyright for any original work) I'm unable to display it on here since the artist that drew it owns the copyright and I'm unable to contact them to ask them to formally release it. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#654519:05, 17 April 2023 (UTC)
I think that’s what they are referring to, and even if it isn’t, it probably would most likely be a citation for the article! And I don’t have a fursona, I already am one! ;) TailsWx19:09, 17 April 2023 (UTC)

@Montbur: I'm not entirely sure. I'm unfamiliar with what is a good citation for these kinds of articles. And I don't have a fursuit, that's not really something I'm interested in. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#654520:29, 17 April 2023 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) @Montbur, I'd say that that source carries some weight, as it is from an official employee of a national space centre. I've formatted your contribution and moved it to a more natural place in the article. Feel free to check what I've done. Schminnte (talk • contribs)21:21, 17 April 2023 (UTC)
Thank you so much for all your help reverting vandalism and performing other helpful tasks here. I, and the community, appreciate it. I saw you recently reverted an edit with an edit summary that attacked me. Thanks! It brings me great joy to have trolls/vandals upset because they aren’t getting any recognition per WP:DENY. Keep up your amazing work, and remember that it doesn’t go unnoticed. Happy editing! - 🔥𝑰𝒍𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑭𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒆(𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌)🔥 23:55, 17 April 2023 (UTC)

At Wikimedia Commons, some thumbnails have not been getting replaced correctly after a new version of the image is uploaded. This should be fixed later this week. [38][39]
For the last few weeks, some external tools had inconsistent problems with logging-in with OAuth. This has now been fixed. [40]

Request on 14:33:42, 20 April 2023 for assistance on AfC submission by Edgar.bailey111
Hello, patent pending information is usually provided by companies themselves. The reference to an article on Business Mondays is a reliable source of information, unless a reviewer plans to sue the company for providing false information on some grounds, which he seems to hint he may be aware of.
It is odd that this company's information has been immediately "dismissed" as "unreliable" and is, frankly, disturbing, especially this being a businesswoman.
I object entirely to the second request to resubmit the article, because it is well-referenced.
Edgar.bailey111 Blaze Wolf has indicated on their user page that they are away, so I will respond in their place. They may have more to add later. The draft is not well referenced. The one source provided just documents the existence of the software. "Patent pending information" does not contribute to notability; thousands of patents are pending.
Wikipedia is not a place to merely document the existence of someone and tell what they do. Any article about Zifa Sadriyeva must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about her, showing how she meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable person. "Significant coverage" goes beyond merely telling what she does and goes into detail about her significance or influence as the source sees it, not as herself, her company, or her associates see it. To pass the draft process, we usually look for at least three sources with significant coverage to be summarized in the draft.
Unless I am mis-counting, your signature is almost twice as long (~450 chars) as it should be (max 250). Please consider trimming. Thanks! Primefac (talk) 09:27, 19 April 2023 (UTC)
@Primefac: It shouldn't be because otherwise I wouldn't be able to fit it into the custom signature preference. Are you counting the timestamp? Cause I have 19 characters left before I hit 250. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#654513:00, 19 April 2023 (UTC)
I just threw it into a character counter and it came out as 236 characters total so you might be miscounting. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#654513:10, 19 April 2023 (UTC)
@Primefac: Ah. In that case I simply just used 3 tildes instead of 4 which just adds my signature without the timestamp so the reply tool just duplicated my signature while adding a timestamp. Normally I go back and fix it but I just decided to be lazy and leave it this time. Maybe the reply tool should be changed so that if it detects only 3 tildes it should only add the timestamp rather than add the whole signature again with a timestamp. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#654516:51, 19 April 2023 (UTC)
Hah! Was reading the diff so I didn't even notice you had double-signed. That would definitely explain it. Ta. Primefac (talk) 17:32, 19 April 2023 (UTC)
Draft edited regarding completely unsourced
Hi sir thanks for pointing me, as I am new Understand that I have to learn the system prevailing here. Please review again to see if I did it correctly. Thanks☺️ Radhey8 (talk) 08:14, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
Hello! Sorry for disturbing you. You recently reviewed my draft for the article on Irena Soprano. I corrected the article, added new sources and reduced the number of references to other facts (I only left links to different designer's dresses, it seems to me this will be interesting to readers). Unfortunately, the source with the Irena Soprano' biography isn't confirmed by Wikipedia. If you have a time, please see the corrected version. Thank you!--Jane230 (talk) 06:12, 21 April 2023 (UTC)
Please do not ping me and then post to my talk page. I saw the ping but I"m not going to review it since I think others who are more experienced than me would be better in this case. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#654516:05, 25 April 2023 (UTC)
Hi.
Did you get that Ash Ketchum's departure from the anime is temporary because he will return alongside his Pikachu, according to the Pokémon anime executive director Kunihiko Yuyama.
Hi there. Thank you for the feedback on this page. Apologies, I was adding citations as I went along and I didn't realise adding the tag 'graphic design' would submit the article. I am continuing to add citations/sources. Looktowindward (talk) 13:41, 24 April 2023 (UTC)
@Looktowindward: Ah so you submitted it by accident. That's perfectly fine, I understand why you wouldn't have realized that adding the tag would submit it. My advice would be to find the sources for your article before you write any of the content of your article, that way you can avoid adding any content that is unverifiable. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#654513:44, 24 April 2023 (UTC)
That's great, thanks for the help. I have added in my sources in now – importantly to articles where the coverage is 'about' the subject – and have saved those changes. Looktowindward (talk) 14:21, 24 April 2023 (UTC)

Hello Blaze Wolf. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Draft:Lord Breadbear, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: G3: not a hoax. A hoax tries to convince the reader that the subject is factual. This is blatantly fiction, and there is no consensus that A11 applies to drafts. Thank you. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 14:33, 24 April 2023 (UTC)
Hello Blaze Wolf, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I deleted User:Connor122/sandbox, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, under a different criterion from the one you provided. The speedy deletion criteria are extremely narrow and specific, and the process is more effective if the correct criterion is used. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 13:04, 25 April 2023 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!
The Special Barnstar
I realize I also never gave you a barnstar before. Thanks for your hard work at AFC and CSD areas! Oh, and good luck on your NPP training! TailsWx15:49, 27 April 2023 (UTC)
@Tails Wx: You probably have given me a barnstar before, I just haven't kept them on any specific page, they're just scattered throughout my archives (tbh I probably should gather them up somewhere but that would involve digging through my archives to find them... I could possibly write a userscript that can do that but I would need to learn more JavaScript first) ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#654515:52, 27 April 2023 (UTC)
By the language used, it is to me pretty clearly a copyvio ("Of the subsequent rectors, we should mention ..."). The detector does not include Russian language I expect. It is full of wholly uncited assertions, puffery, etc. And been tagged for months. Subject to large deletion just for lack of refs as well. Are you a copyright clerk or VRT agent? Thanks. --2603:7000:2101:AA00:C02A:1B6F:A5C4:A67B (talk) 21:54, 27 April 2023 (UTC)
No, I'm neither. I'm just a regular user who just saw that report pop up and checked and didn't see anything. Do you still think there's a copy vio? IF so do you know the source? ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#654522:12, 27 April 2023 (UTC)
Ah. Thanks for trying to help. But please note that what you deleted says, towards the top -- "Do not restore or edit the blanked content on this page until the issue is resolved by an administrator, copyright clerk or VRT agent." I do not know Russian well enough to know the source. 2603:7000:2101:AA00:C02A:1B6F:A5C4:A67B (talk) 22:39, 27 April 2023 (UTC)
@Courcelles: Yes. I have no plans to use it to edit on enWikipedia. If that changes at some point I'll ask for it to be unblocked. But for the time being I do want it blocked. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#654520:46, 28 April 2023 (UTC)
Merci beaucoup,
Stanislas,
arrière arrière petit neveu de monseigneur Demers. --Waterloosettlement (talk) 20:59, 29 April 2023 (UTC)
@Waterloosettlement: This is the English wikipedia, which requires you to speak in English when communicating with other editors and to write edit summaries in English. If you are unable to do that, you should not be editing here.--Bbb23 (talk) 21:31, 29 April 2023 (UTC)
