IlluminanceIlluminance is not a typo, and is quite distinct from luminance. The former was correct.--Srleffler 04:25, 2 September 2006 (UTC) I have proposed this article for deletion via Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. You may wish to express your opinion on whether it should be kept. --Brianyoumans 10:50, 8 October 2006 (UTC) You're right, that's problematic. I'd suggest either tagging it with {{subst:nsd}}, or listing it at WP:PUI. By the way, you speak Farsi? That's terrific, and I'm jealous. Do you have any thoughts on this controversy?: [1][2][3][4][5] Did Ahmadinejad say what could be best translated as "Israel should be wiped off the face of the map", as has been widely quoted in the Western press? Or is his statement better translated as "This occupation regime over Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time"? Is the translation we've been told (the statement Ahmadinejad is probably best known in the West for saying) significantly more aggressive than what he actually said? It's awfully hard to find opinions from people who know Farsi and are even remotely neutral. All the best, – Quadell (talk) (random) 15:23, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image (Image:Valor.gif)Thanks for uploading Image:Valor.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media). If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself. If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 23:55, 15 July 2007 (UTC) Spam in Boston Communications GroupHello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Boston Communications Group, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Boston Communications Group is blatant advertising for a company, product, group, service or person that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article. BetacommandBot (talk) 20:47, 15 December 2007 (UTC) United States Telecommunications AssociationA proposed deletion template has been added to the article United States Telecommunications Association, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the Coolness warning This is the only warning you will receive for being too cool. Speedy deletion of ECompaniesA tag has been placed on ECompanies, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read our the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information. If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding A tag has been placed on Intrado, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam. If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add Hi. Thanks for attempting to address the copyvio here! Unfortunately, the temporary version also infringed. For example, the temporary version said, "Their mission is to engage people worldwide in scientific field research and education to promote the understanding and action necessary for a sustainable environment." This press release says, "The Institute's mission is to engage people worldwide in scientific field research and education to promote the understanding and action necessary for a sustainable environment", here. The temporary version said, "Earthwatch works with a wide range of partners, from individuals who work as conservation volunteers on research teams through to corporate partners, governments and institutions." Their website says they "work with a wide range of partners, from individuals who work as conservation volunteers on research teams through to corporate partners, governments and institutions."source That's one of the problems with basing a new temporary version off of existing text. Quite often, where there's one copyright violation, there's plenty more. An additional problem is that, unless you put the text in your own words, you also run the risk of violating the copyright of Wikipedia's contributors. We release our material under GFDL, but not into public domain. That means that contributor's get attribution credit, which we provide through the article "history". Copying and pasting other Wikipedians' contributions breaks that attribution history, which is a problem. :) In any event, in this case, there are clean versions in history which can (and will) be restored. I'm investigating to see if versions subsequent to the copyright violation should be deleted or if a warning against restoration is sufficient. Thanks again for working on the temporary version, even if it isn't needed in this case, and particularly for pointing out the problem. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:31, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
About my move of your additions at conceit to Self-esteem#In_BuddhismHi Binarypower! I've moved the text you added about "conceit" from conceit (the literary device) to Self-esteem#In_Buddhism ("an inflated conception of self-worth") possibly, Māna. Please do modify or completely revert all this if you think I've made a mistake.
