Lordkinbote 23:57, 23 June 2006 (UTC) July 2015![]() Your recent editing history at Bay Ridge, Brooklyn shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you get reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. ![]() {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} . NawlinWiki (talk) 18:09, 27 July 2015 (UTC) This BS. Bay Ridge is NOT an official neighborhood. It is not a town or city, doesn't have any govt. In all fairness, you should remove all the External links from the other dozens of neighborhood listed at the bottom of the Bay Ridge, Brooklyn page. EVERY LAST one of hem has links to web pages similar to mine. But that would be too much work for you to do, to be equally fair. I'll be looking to escalate this further. There was no need for this. I hope the prick who started all this, Fitnr is happy now that Bay Ridge, Brooklyn has no links at all now. I'll be making edits to their page now until you remove their links as well. Forgotten NY. They have the same type of links and maybe Thomas W. can spend as much time as he did researching my site, on theirs. Here's some help. This page, http://forgotten-ny.com/stuff/ is where they ask for money as donations and sell shirts and other services. So now do you job and remove the site from Wikipedia.

Conflict of interest in WikipediaHi Bay Ridge. Please do change your username, per Bish's notice above. I work on "conflict of interest" issues in Wikipedia. Thanks for disclosing above that you own the site, bayridge.net. Your ownership of that site creates a conflict of interest here in WP. As an editor here, you have a relationship with Wikipedia and its mission and a responsibility to edit according to that mission; your relationship with the bayridge.net creates an interest in promoting that website. These two interests appear to be in conflict, as no other editor here supports the use of your website as an external link. COI issues and how we deal with them, are explained in our COI guideline, which is here: WP:COI. I am providing you with formal notice of our guideline and the Terms of Use of Wikipedia.
All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible. If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:
Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies. Note that Wikipedia's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Please do not try to directly add back your website as an external link, but try to get consensus from other editors to use it, on the article Talk page. If consensus goes against you, please follow the consensus. If you continue demanding the link be included and edit warring over it, you will likely be indefintely blocked. That would be a shame, as you have made some other good contributions to the article. Best regards Jytdog (talk) 18:59, 27 July 2015 (UTC)
Ok fine. Now for another matter. I was looking up a person who was running for may in 2013. His name is Tom Allon and that is the name of a person. On his External Links, he has only one and it is called Official Site, just like mine was called. It links to a newspaper called Manhattan Media that has on the first page of the web site 'Advertise with us.' Can you please tell me why this is allowed when you told me I couldn't say 'Official website' and I couldn't link to a site that was a business that has advertising? You can go back and see Thomas W's comment saying exactly that. And I'm not like you and other people there. You can keep telling yourselves that to make yourselves feel better. I would never blame someone for something they didn't do and allow the real culprit (Fitnr) to get off scott free. I expect you will remove Tom Allon's page since the content has nothing to do with the commercial newspaper. Don't you agree? Since Thomas W. is NOT a moderator, as per Mediation Services, and he seems to have moderator friends that come to his aid when summoned, I don't see why I can't report violations as well. If not, maybe you can enlighten me why not. Thank you.bre (talk) 18:51, 28 July 2015 (UTC)
unblock effort![]() Bay Ridge (block log • active blocks • global blocks • autoblocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log)) Requested username: Bay Ridge (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)
Decline reason: There are two separete issues here. One is your username, which violates Wikipedia's username policy since it refers to a commercial website you're actively promoting (and please don't try and claim the website isn't commercial - "Contact us for advertising information or other questions"). The other is your conduct, which is not appropriate on several levels. You wrongly accused other editors of vandalism, edit-warred to keep your link on the page, and generally violated such policies as WP:CIVIL and WP:No personal attacks. You have not addressed either concern except by uttering more accusations against other editors without evidence. See WP:NOTTHEM. Huon (talk) 00:53, 29 July 2015 (UTC)
I own the domains, bayridge.com, bayridge.net, bayridge.info and a few others. They are privately owned by me and me alone for about 20 years, before there was a Wikipedia. I have had this user name since Wikipedia was started or close to it. I was part of the original editors for Bay Ridge, Brooklyn Wikipedia page. I think I deserve to keep a user name that has been mine for so many years. If keeping the name prevents me from editing the Bay Ridge, Brooklyn page, then so be it. Bay Ridge is NOT a city, town or borough, it is just a neighborhood of 130,000 people. No one has had a problem with me using Bay Ridge for a user name until a spammer (Fitnr) made changes to the page and caused admin to ban ME, not him. I keep having correspondence with Wikipedia admin about this and not once have they said anything about the spammer (Fitnr) who started all this. Why not? It is easy to see what he did in the version history in early July 2015. He removed all external links except one, which I believe to be his own. I don't know if it is or not, but why would he do something like that? Just to spam? I think not. The external links have been there a long, long time untouched in the same order. If that's the way Wikipedia operates, then fine, keep me banned and don't let me make edits. I show up on top of many search engines as it is without help from Wikipedia and always have. I do not need Wikipedia as another user (Thomas W) states to promote my web site bayridge.net. I have done very well keeping it on top of google and many other search engines and will continue to do so. I have no problem stating bayridge.com and bayridge.net are privately owned and like millions of other sites do charge small fees for some advertising to cover server costs of keeping the sites up and running, just as Wikipedia asks for donations to keep it going. Every one does it. Let me know what you want me to do other than changing my user name and I will comply. Thank you. bre (talk) 00:25, 29 July 2015 (UTC)
Arguing? Of course I'm arguing. Why did you only choose ME? Look at the edit history. Thomas W is just as guilty as I am. He made as many, if not more changes than I did to a page he has nothing to do with. He is JUST a user like me and I am the only one singled out here? Why wasn't/isn't he being penalized as well for spamming? Why won't you answer me every time I ask about others users involved in this. I don't know all your rules. There are too many and they keep changing. I don't know what all the abbreviations are and I don't care to spend days learning them. I've been using it for many, many years and I'm sure there are millions and millions of pages on Wikipedia that have links to commercial sites. Usually when rules are changed the people that don't conform are left alone and new entries are enforced. Are you going to go through Wikipedia and check every single page for commercial links? Another question you refuse to answer. I've pointed out 2 so far and notice none of them have been changed. Tom Allon is a newspaper publisher. The WIKIPEDIA page name is Tom Allon. He has a link to Manhattan Media which is in External Links as Official Website. When you go there it has advertising on the first page. Forgotten NY is a WIKIPEDIA page that links to a web site that sells pictures. On the first page of the web site, there is a link for GIFT SHOP. They sell things. These two are no different than what you are accusing me of. Why haven't they been removed and only mine? Another questoin you choose not to answer. We are done with the name I guess. I'm not going to lie down like a good puppy for you. I've been around too long to do that. There are THREE questions I would like answers to since we are done with the user name and I guess I'm banned forever. Please answer them. Why wasn't/isn't he (Thomas W) being penalized as well for spamming? Are you going to go through Wikipedia and check every single page for commercial links? Why haven't the WIKIPEDIA pages (Tom Allon and Forgotten NY))been removed? bre (talk) 13:00, 29 July 2015 (UTC)
I thought I submitted a name change to Bay Ridge bre, but it doesn't seem to be here. Did it go through already? If not what did I do wrong then? bre (talk) 17:34, 30 July 2015 (UTC) |
