User talk:Balkanian`s word/Archive 2Albanian Declaration of IndependenceDo you have plans to expand the many bio articles you added? Either way, can you please add {{Albania-bio-stub}} to every single one of the articles to indicate that they are stubs? Thank You --Omarcheeseboro (talk) 13:56, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
Image source problem with Image:Albanian Declaration of Independence.jpg![]() Thanks for uploading Image:Albanian Declaration of Independence.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged. If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 14:38, 22 October 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. feydey (talk) 14:38, 22 October 2008 (UTC) Flm shumë dhe përgëzime për punën! As you may have noticed, there are two templates regarding Albanian history currently in use: Template:History of Albania and Template:Histalbania. Since these two overlap significantly in content and refer to the same subject, one ought to be merged into the other. Preferably, the "History of Albania" name should be kept per naming guidelines as being more clear and easy to remember than "Histalbania", but on the shape (infobox-style or bottom boxes) and content, there is room for discussion. Personally, I prefer the bottom box format, since it is collapsible and does not intrude too much in the article proper, but, seeing as you are the major contributor to Albanian history articles around, I'd like your opinion before being bold and doing the merge. Regards, Constantine ✍ 19:41, 19 November 2008 (UTC) Photographs and copyrightsI see you've made this mistake twice on Commons: when you uploaded those pictures of Lef Nosi and Nikolle Kaçorri, you described them as "PD-Self". "PD-Self" would mean that you were the photographer. Just because you put the photographs in your scanner, that doesn't mean you're the one who created the images. Going solely by when the photographers would have died, the photo of Dom Kaçorri is almost certainly PD because he died in 1917, and the photo of Nosi is probably PD because he died in 1946, but that might not be the only criterion to consider -- I don't know what post-communist Tirana's policy is on pre-communist images. It's not impossible that one or both of those images will have to be deleted, although I'd put the odds at that happening at no more than 5%. To avoid having this happen again, I strongly suggest that you take the time to properly understand our copyright policies before you upload any more scans of antique photos. Oh, and while I have your attention - thank you for all your good work in creating articles. DS (talk) 14:54, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
Dekoratë ;)
On your commentDuh, you missed the adjective sizable between never and Albanian population. I already said it's likely the town had some Albanians, but it is without doubt that the city has always been Greek. I see you have a very strong Albanian POV, please try to stick to some universally accepted naming conventions and attempt to maintain some neutrality: that Ali Pasha was an ethnic Albanian doesn't mean his pashalik was Albanian: it was merely a breakaway region of the Ottoman Empire with a mixed population of Greeks, Turks, Albanians, Bulgarians, Vlachs, etc. Claiming Ali Pasha's domain was Albanian is like claiming Osman Pazvantoğlu's domain centred at Vidin was Bosnian because Pazvantoğlu was a Bosniak himself. Ethnicity didn't play an important role, if any role at all, in those breakaway regions. Todor→Bozhinov 20:49, 26 November 2008 (UTC) By the wayCould you please take a look at Meshterski, it might be interesting to you. The thing is, Albanian is one of the languages I have next to no clue about, so I'd be really grateful if you can check if the stuff in the last body sentence is close to being correct: it's a bit of a web dictionary online research, quite frankly. In particular, what meanings does qelesh have (apart from the cool hat), does qind have any similar slang use in Albanian (=money), and could shqyrt (if that is the root) be the origin of skiv? Keq I think is pretty clear, –av being merely a masculine adjective ending in Bulgarian. Thanks in advance :) Todor→Bozhinov 19:22, 29 November 2008 (UTC)for BollanoI don't forgot the discussion, i' ll give an answer in the next hour-i' m on a lecture now. Fut.Perf. ☼ 10:12, 29 January 2009 (UTC) Thespotia etcI'll have a look for any such maps for tomorrow. But I am not aware of those names in older maps. I think most Albanians identified by the name of their clan, not by the name of a region region - and they probably defended that region against intruders (other Albanians, Greeks, Turks, Gipsies, etc); that seems to be especially true in north Albania where the names of villages are also the names of the clans; for instance Berisha. There is a story how in Kosova during the 1999 conflict with Serbia, some young Kosovars from the south entusiastically went with their arms to offer their help to a village in the centre that had been attacked by Serb forces. The local Kosovar militia in that village received them like intruders and told them that either they leave immediately or they would be in deep trouble. Sorry for rambling. The most usual names are: Albania, Epirus, Illyria. The geography of Epirus never reaches north of Valona. Below you will find reference to some maps and the names they give to the region. You can google them if you like to see them.
Well, Thesprotia is a Greek 'nomos' or prefecture, so it appears on some Greek maps, and, presumably, on some EU map of European administrative units. As for the other names I am not aware of anything. Politis (talk) 14:35, 31 January 2009 (UTC) Sure, but next sentence says 'who came to identify politically and ethnically as Greeks'. Agree that some families (fares) were of clear Albanian heritage, but its fare fetched to claim that he is of unclear origin when his and certain Souliot families played major part on Greek political life. I believe that Markos Botsaris article states right (Greek of Arvanite orgin). What do u believe on that, how should this person characterized?Alexikoua (talk) 19:52, 2 February 2009 (UTC) Arvanites of Epirus or ChameriaReally confusing topic. How are usually orthodox Chams called on most sources? Making the equation cham orthodox=arvanites of epirus is geographically confusing, but I don't see a source stating this clear. Euromosaic says about arvanites of chameria in epirus. But as we agreed in the past, not all the Arvanites of Epirus are of Albanian ethnic consciousness, like families of Arvanite origin (Grivas, Zervas etc.) living in Epirus. (I' ve read that they have links with the Shpata and Boua medieval clans.) But it isn't on how we name them, I believe when a research agrees with that its ok, otherwise would be kind of original research. Labs and Chams are of different origin, right? (dif. Albanian 'tribe') so how could we incorporate them into the term 'cham orthodox'? Alexikoua (talk) 20:50, 2 February 2009 (UTC) Still the term 'Arvanites of Epirus' is product of original research. I have still to mention that:
There could be a section like 'Arvanites of Albanian ethnic consciousness' or referring to helsiki's 'Arvanites of Epirus and Western Macedonia' On Greek bibliography often when referring to the Ottoman times there is the following distinction to the population of Chameria/Tsiamouria: Muslims Chams (also Turko-chams according to Souliot sources) and Christians Chams. Dividing them not by nationality but by religion like Ottoman authorities. In fact some revolts (I believe almost all) in the region (like the one at 1854 against the powerful beys of Paramythia) were between the 2 religious groups.Alexikoua (talk) 20:37, 3 February 2009 (UTC) Sure, ok about the ChamVLab appoach. But the term 'Arvanites in Epirus' incorporates also those in Epirus of non-Albanian consciousness, there should be a clear exception about that. About the historic section, I feel its better to focus on society and migration in the region than to political leaders out of Chameria/Tsiamouria that occupied that region (like making a copy-paste job about Ali Pasha's politics and personality I believe its better to mention information about revolts and social structure of the region)Alexikoua (talk) 21:01, 3 February 2009 (UTC) Please review the copyright status. If it's a party logo, it isn't yours, and you can't release it as self-made. You'll probably have to invoke "fair use" (but that means it should be used only once, on the main article for the organisation, not in other articles.) Hasan Tahsin(i)I notice you had a discussion with an anon on Cham Albanians about the (non-)identity of the Cham Albanian Hasan Tahsini and the Turkish Hasan Tahsin. I don't know anything about either, but the anon clearly has a point: the same photograph is being used both on the Turkish guy's article and in your Cham Albanian collage. So, either the two are in fact the same person, or somebody got their picture wrong. Can you check? By the way, I also had to tag your Cham Albanian gallery file. For such files, you need detailed source declarations for each component. Please do not file such images as "self-made".
