On July 15, 2010, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Bukit Timah Monkey Man, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check ) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.
Please help me with the translation process, and also with re-transcribing with the external article for accuracies. Polishing the English quality would be great help. Thanks! TEK (talk • e-mail) 21:38, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
Hello. Yesterday you added citations to two books from the "Webster's Quotations, Facts and Phrases" series published by Icon Group International to this article. Unfortunately, Icon Group International is not a reliable source - their books are computer-generated, with most of the text copied from Wikipedia (most entries have [WP] by them to indicate this, see e.g. [1]). I've only removed the reference, not the text it was referencing. I'm removing a lot of similar references as they are circular references; many other editors have also been duped by these sources. Despite giving an appearance of reliability, the name "Webster's" has been public domain since the late 19th century. Another publisher to be wary of as they reuse Wikipedia articles is Alphascript Publishing. Fences&Windows14:42, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, I'll note that. I was searching high and low for references to the text, and that seemed reliable. At least I'll know better now. Best, AngChenruiTalk14:54, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
Hello, I hope you're doing fine and I sincerely apologize for this intrusion. My name is Claudi Balaguer (User Capsot from the Catalan Wikipedia and the Occitan Wikiccionari), I've just read your profile and have seen that you are from Singapour and then I think you must live around very different languages, people and cultures so I suppose you understand very well what are a minorized language and culture and maybe I am not bothering you and you will help us... It was really pleasing to read your userboxes and to see how optimistic and positive you are. I tend to be a pessimistic person and well I'm glad to see optimistic and positive persons... it alleviates my pain and soothes me to know there are so many nice people around. I'm a member of a Catalan association "Amical de la Viquipèdia" which is trying to get some recognition as a Catalan Chapter (an intermediate structure between the Wikipedias and the Wikimedia Foundation) but this hasn't been approved up to that moment because it seems that you can't have a Chapter if you don't have a state! If you think our cause is just, you can show your support by pasting this template on your userpage: Wikimedia CAT and/or by signing our "Members and Supporters" list following the link on the template (you can have more information on my userpage). Supporting us will be like giving equal opportunity to all the minorized languages and cultures in the Wikiworld! Thanks again, I wish you a nice, pleasant and warm summer, take care! Capsot (talk) 14:04, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
Hi Capsot, no you are very much welcomed. Certainly, I can understand your context and situation - I guess it is true my country is multi-religious, multi-lingual, multi-ethnic (paste whatever you like) etc. And I've always been interested in these nationalistic ideas and causes. About your idea, let me just take a deeper look at it when I've got the time and if there's nothing holding me back, I'll happily slot myself inside. Best, ANGCHENRUITalk♨16:14, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
No problem, take your time. I really appreciate you took the time to answer (some people don't and some even erase the message... but well, that's their choice!) I wish you all the best! Take real care. I hope you and your country haven't been affected by the current monsoons! Claudi/Capsot (talk) 08:03, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
I had that same doubt. Since the Trampoline events will be held in the middle of the artistic events, I decided to separate them. But in the 2008 Summer Olympics they are in the same row as "Gymnastics". If you think it's also better, you could put them together. Saulopro (talk) 15:15, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
DYK nomination of "Venues of the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics"
Hi, I think "Venues of the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics" is a bit short for DYK at the moment. It needs to be at least 1,500 words long (not including tables), and at the moment according to the Prosesize tool (which you can install) it is only 678 words. Any chance you can expand it to at least 1,500 words within the next few days? — Cheers, JackLee–talk–16:59, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
Whoops, sorry. Got confused by the fact that Prosesize indicates the number of words, not characters. Hmmm, looks like that script is less useful for DYK than I thought. Anyway, glad that the article passes the DYK criteria on that score. — Cheers, JackLee–talk–11:32, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
I further reviewed the NOM and the only problem is that the hook is not in or cited in the nominated article. See the comment there. Thanks. --NortyNort(Holla)10:00, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
On 14 August 2010, In the news was updated with a news item that involved the article 2010 Summer Youth Olympics, which you substantially updated. If you know of another interesting news item involving a recently created or updated article, then please suggest it on the candidates page.
So are you going to replace the temples you deleted? ...You are aware that you cant revert things like that- references are more important then layout.. SO i take it you will be adding back this templates. You have just deleted valid contributions.Moxy (talk) 16:46, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
Hi there, I do understand its a valid edit. Issue is that content besides the alteration of layout wikicode was also removed - look at the infobox section. I would rather paste the references over again, since the change to the layout wikicode is pretty hard to comprehend. Was going to inform you about the matter soon, yep. Hope you understand, ANGCHENRUITalk♨16:50, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
Ok sure. Interesting - since I realised there was a 4-hour backlog with ITN just now, thankfully its fixed now. Need me to place the refs back in the article, or will you be doing it? ANGCHENRUITalk♨17:01, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
I will stick them back when your done..just PDFs have to be done by hand..no big deal we have a copy of the edits form him.Moxy (talk) 17:05, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
On 15 August 2010, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Lyo and Merly, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check ) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.
Hi there!
The bottom line is for "Recent and Upcoming Games" usually highlighting the two most recent and two upcoming Games; for a short two week period, it also includes "Current Games". The Current Games should be bolded during those Games. So after Singapore is finished, that will be in regular type and the others will remain in italics. (Since this is just the first, you can see why the pattern hasn't been established yet. This used to be on the main Olympics nav box, but people keep edit warring over it. I am trying to maintain that original policy here.)
hi!! are you online and editing right now? may we get some of your time? we are currently discussing the distribution of medals of the mixed events in the currently happening 2010 Summer Yuth Olympics to have a consensus. I hope you join us in the discussion if you are online.thanks!!!
Kuyacomeback (talk) 13:54, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
Is it a 'live' discussion going on right now? Please give me some time to settle some other stuff and I'll be back in a jiffy. Thanks, ANGCHENRUITalk♨14:20, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
RE: 2010 SUMMER YOUTH OLYMPICS MEDAL TABLE
Regarding the first issue, I think it is a mixed NOC competition.
The second one, I have told this many times in the discussion. I said a possible solution on how to distribute or just even attribute the medals of the mixed NOC competitions. As a matter of fact, I tried it three days ago but Mohsen and Green did not even tried to analyze and think the point I was making when I made the medal tally. they simple canceled my proposed alternative solution to medal table. If I were to propose that again for uncountable time right now, it will just be against your advocacy in implementing the medal tally. If you want to learn or just even know what medal tally solution I was trying to pinpoint three days ago until yesterday, you may take a look at my edits in the 2010 summer youth olympics medal table or just even in the discussion. I almost dont even want to edit the medal tally anymore because of the fact that I am suggesting a solution but Green and Mohsen would just dont mind my proposed solution/alternative. This aint personal. Its just that I like that each and everyone of us should give a chance. The two didnt even try to recognize or learn what I was suggesting. The best thing that I can do is not to edit that medal tally anymore.
Kuyacomeback (talk) 15:33, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
I'm watching the article and its talk page closely. It might turn into an edit war if editors become provocative. In the meantime, I suggest you refrain from editing the medal tally where possible; I will do my best to settle this and enforce actions where appropriate. Don't get too offended, such stuff aren't uncommon. Best, ANGCHENRUITalk♨15:48, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
That is indeed apt :D. You intend to report him? Or not bother about what he posts? Give me your suggestion and I'll think about it. ANGCHENRUITalk♨06:54, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
I'd only react if he unilaterally does anything without consensus, but it's pretty clear there's a consensus. Even his links don't actually back him up. Strange Passerby (talk) 06:57, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
He might have gotten the wrong interpretation, which is rather cruel. Or he just wants to steer the discussion offpath, but then again I see no motivation for doing so unless there's some hatred or vengeance involved. ANGCHENRUITalk♨07:01, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
Number of entirely mixed-NOCs events
Are you sure it's nine? As far as I can tell, it's eight: archery, athletics (2), equestrian, fencing, judo, modern pentathlon, triathlon. I'm not even sure about judo. Strange Passerby (talk) 11:30, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
I checked the judo and mixed-NOCs articles and the mixed-NOCs team event is listed in both. I'm taking that they're correct, which means 9 in total. ANGCHENRUITalk♨11:45, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
Table tennis has a number of teams representing their NOCs, namely NOCs which sent the full complement of one male and one female player. Strange Passerby (talk) 12:01, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
I checked the official results page, and yes you are actually correct. There are teams representing a single NOC. I guess the two articles I referred to did not specify correctly. Let me change the info right away. Thanks for the alert! ANGCHENRUITalk♨12:06, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
Heads up: I undid your edit to the mixed-NOCs article changing the event names. I think there's agreement to use the official event names, isn't there? Strange Passerby (talk) 12:16, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
Hmm... they're the official event names? Well if that's so yeah my edit is invalid. Thanks again. Looks like the discussion over the terms to be used have befuddled my brain. ANGCHENRUITalk♨12:19, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
While we're on the topic of mixed-NOCs, I've reverted your change to the nations at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics template per WP:BRD; please see the talk page for my rationale. Cheers, Strange Passerby (talk) 11:34, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
Hi,
I'm trying to align myself to your preferred grammar style... but half-way through reverting my changes, I realised that we are actually going in circles! :)
For Benin: (my original) "competed at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics." (your change) "competed in the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics"
For Sierra Leone: (my original - accepting your feedback): "competed in the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics"; (your change) "competed at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics".
It's actually "competed at". I think there's this grammatical inconsistency across the articles, but I've figured out now that "competed at" is correct and not "competed in". I guess I can't 'prefer' here, only write what is right. Cheers, ANGCHENRUITalk♨13:57, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

Hey. All gis.singapore2010.sg links are now dead, which is a huge pain in the backside for where they have been used as references and external links. Could you help me try to find these links when used as sources/ELs for results and replace them with the appropriate results pdfs? Unfortunately, for stuff like athlete bios and team competitors lists, we'll have to find other sources. Strange Passerby (talk • c • status) 15:19, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
Man, linkrot is always troubling. Okay I'll see what I can do. The references to gis.singapore2010.sg are mainly found on the nation at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics articles right? ANGCHENRUITalk♨15:28, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
Most individual event articles have them as external links to the event results; these should be replaced with the pdfs. I'll do them tomorrow, but if you've the time to get started first it'd be a good start. Strange Passerby (talk • c • status) 16:16, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
Interesting question. There's obviously been a mix of the two used in the article. I'd probably argue that since the article deals with an Indian topic it should use Indian English.
Good work on the article, by the way. I've been watchlisting it for a while, due to copyvios, and I keep seeing your name of my watchlist ;-) (And not because you're inserting more copyvios, obviously!) TFOWR09:17, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
The two templates seem complementary; I mean the only difference is in the spelling of some words? I'm fine with both, the impact on the article is insignificant either way. Thanks, just wanted to chip in to ensure the stability and accuracy of the article's contents. You've been doing an excellent job watching over it, I must say! Haha :) Best, ANGCHENRUITalk♨09:26, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
I've learned a lot about copyright and learned some useful stuff from Uncle G, which is always a bonus! This should hopefully be on ITN in the next few days. I assume that the controversies will make the blurb as well as the opening ceremony, so be prepared for greatly increased editing for a day or so while it's on ITN... TFOWR09:33, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
Hmm... insightful. I suppose so; and with it a tide of new watchers? I'll keep watch still... expecting loads of new material to be dumped onto the article once the link goes live on the Main Page :P ANGCHENRUITalk♨09:42, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
Please review the content policies and guidelines on what information is encyclopedic and suitable for inclusion.

Hi, if you read my edit summary, there was an edit conflict where I decided to continue with publishing my edit. I later found you had reverted my edit; I went on to blank the text while leaving it hidden as I wanted to check up on the guidelines. Don't worry too much, I have no intention of forcing my way through. Cheers, ANGCHENRUITalk♨15:14, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
Didn't mean to revert your commented text . . . I'd reviewed a previous version (before the comments) and not seen the changes when double-checking the diffs. Bongomatic15:24, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
Alright it's fine. Do you intend to restore the hidden comments? I'm not too bothered by the difference, it's not that significant anyway. Regards, ANGCHENRUITalk♨15:27, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
It's okay, you can blame me for it. I think I'm too tired. I've addressed the concerns raised to my very best. I'm off to sleep for now, will tidy up the remaining tomorrow. Thanks, ANGCHENRUITalk♨16:55, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
I'll take a look at it, although I probably won't review it since I'm not experienced in GAN anyway. I'll provide feedback here and there though. ANGCHENRUITalk♨01:39, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

Alright thanks very much, I have to agree here. I must have forgotten all about PROD as I could only remember CSD and AfD during the edit. Regards, ANGCHENRUITalk♨11:51, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
I do note all sources say Tokelau is "expected to participate" at CG2010. No sources explicitly deny the country's presence. Kimchi.sg (talk) 11:54, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
Three things. First, as I created that stub article, policy and common courtesy required you to leave a note on my talk page informing me that you had put it up for deletion. (I went to the article today to submit it for deletion myself, and found that you had already done so, but that's beside the point.) You failed to do that. Second, claiming that Tokelau "should never have had such an article to begin with" is neither friendly nor helpful. I may have jumped the gun a little, but I created the article in good faith on the basis of credible, official sources. At the time when I created it, the sources linked to did state that Tokelau would participate. If there was an error it was theirs, so kindly refrain from such unconstructive and misinformed comments in future. Third... Well, there was a third point, but I've forgotten it. Thank you sincerely nonetheless for dealing with the article, despite the perhaps less than ideal or courteous manner in which you did so. Aridd (talk) 12:17, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
I offer my sincere apologies if I have hurt you in any way. Yes, I admit to using rather candid phrasing in the reason for deletion (mainly "should never have had such an article to begin with"); however, I hope you understand this is in no way an attack or degradation of your reputation or goodwill. The statement given did not target you in any way. While alerting contributors of the article to such an action would be encouraged, do realise it is not a requirement. As you made a one-off edit to the article (creating it), I saw no impetus to alert you. Hope you understand and not miscontrue my intentions. I personally would have shown careful forethought before creating this unique article. Best, ANGCHENRUITalk♨12:34, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
As a third party, I think AngChenrui has already said what he can say. He was probably too hasty in wording his delete nomination for which he has apologised. :-) Kimchi.sg (talk) 12:40, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
Yes; I'm sorry. I was probably too harsh as well in my reaction. I felt rather stung there, and I was irritated at not being informed, but I accept that no attack at all was intended. Please do consider alerting authors when nominating an article for deletion, but I understand your rationale here. No offence taken. Thanks for the reply; best regards, Aridd (talk) 17:26, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
Re: OR
Perhaps NOR wasn't the best argument, however, assuming that he will get more award nominations is a CRYSTAL violation. –Chase (talk) 12:34, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
Would you like me to continue here or on your talk page? Anyway, I'll reply here for now. It's not CRYSTAL right now because its using editing smarts to write the article better. Its only CRYSTAL if we actually write down in the article that he is expected to receive nominations/awards (doesn't matter which) in the near future. But if we can hypothesise the likely scenario, we can formulate a better editing stance for the applicable articles. In this case, we should suspend any moving of articles until we get a better idea in a few months time. ANGCHENRUITalk♨12:40, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
If you want to keep the discussion going here, that's fine. Anyway, the merger is over with consensus to merge and that will probably be handled soon (if not, I will do so). If he does get more nominations in time then I wouldn't be opposed to the page being recreated. But Justin Bieber isn't a long article and his nominations at present aren't lengthy at this time. Regards, –Chase (talk) 17:13, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
Okay, I'm not too concerned since I don't really edit musicians' articles, and the current policy is fine with me. Was just expressing my views on your interpretation of NOR. Thanks, ANGCHENRUITalk♨06:53, 8 October 2010 (UTC)
Created. I'll spend some time expanding it; do help me if you can! And of course, list yourself in the participants' section. ANGCHENRUITalk♨12:25, 8 October 2010 (UTC)
That's fine. Also, I'd suggest that perhaps in some of your messages to other talk pages about proposals, you should change "support" to "voice your opinion", per WP:CANVASS. Okay, off for now. Will get back to tagging on Sunday after guard duty, or if I've the time from my mobile tomorrow. Strange Passerby (talk • c • status) 13:21, 8 October 2010 (UTC)
Hello, I am the creator of WP:DARTS (created in July) and as you can see from the project page it is a well-developed project with all the necessary information and tools (except notability guidelines). Anyway, I would be happy to help with all of WP:MSE's project stuff (banner, ideas, templates, assessment etc). Would you like me to do this? Mr.Kennedy1talk16:35, 8 October 2010 (UTC)
Sure, we would appreciate help with our new project. Do you mean providing feedback and ideas for our project, or creating new project material (e.g. templates)? Right now I'm facing this coding error (I think) with the WikiProject banner. ANGCHENRUITalk♨16:55, 8 October 2010 (UTC)
I couldn't spot the problem with the banner so I completely reformatted the template by copying the WP:DARTS banner and creating the appropiate categories. This banner does not have list-class, category-class etc. but has the main ones which is all that is needed for this project as of yet. I will not get more one tonight but I will continue tommorow.
