Share and Ben creme articlesHey, so your front page says your no longer active on wiki, this true? Anyways, Please check the Share international talk page. I've removed a section of text that was previously uncited. Someone cited the Share International website 5 times trying to back up the bold claims (claiming the submitted predictions to world news media) and I went ahead and removed the block of text, because no sufficent sources were given (citing the website the article is about does not seem sufficent.) However, I'm new to wikipedia and I'm not sure if this was too much, perhaps I should have re-edited the article to say "Share International claims that they submitted such and such predictions to world news media, but this has yet to be substaniated" Your the one that replied to my article telling me it's ok for me to remove it if it's uncited for a week or two after I drop the uncited tag. If you could let me know what I'm supposed to do, what the corrective action is if I'm wrong, point me to the right articles, anything, I'd much appreciate it. Of course, I'll be doing my own research, but being as new as I am, I'm not sure I'll easily be able to find something that bluntly has the answer I'm looking for. I just don't want to destroy an article without just cause (on the other hand, I don't feel it's right to make such bold unsubstantiated claims, wiki has a bad rep among many schools and teaching institutions.) The allegations were made against PRIESTS not ordinary believers. The current title just panders to fashionable anti-Catholic hate speech. Do you really think that Catholic believers should be singled out in this unfair way? Is wikipedia an encyclopedia or just an airing ground for media myths and propaganda? And don't tell me to write an article on other religious group members who have commiteed sexual offences cos I think the whole thing is just totally unscientific. Religion is not necessarily the determining factor. Say a person is a Catholic doctor who commits abuse. What made him do it - being a doctor or being a Catholic? I will not be party to irrational hatred directed at randomly selected groups, based on no evidence - I oppose it and I hope that any decent person would do the same thing. Thank you very much for your kind reminder, I had so many books about the [[Siege of Leningrad] on my desk yesterday, that reading and editing the article took much attention, so I used the inuse template without a prior step, as you mentioned; albeit this does not mean that other users can now vandalize the article by deleting well referenced facts of history, with links to Britannica, books from my library, public libraries here in CA, and other sources. Deletion of well sourced edits is vandalism. I do not have much time for dealing with vandals, and other users, who do not help make Wikipedia better. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page. If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. This arbitration case has been closed and the final decision is available at the link above. Evidence presented did not disclose a history of problematic editing, in terms of basic content policy, by Jossi, and the Committee commended Jossi's self-imposed restriction to edit only talk pages for Prem Rawat related articles. Due to a history of incivility and personal attacks surrounding articles related to the Prem Rawat movement, the preexisting community enforced one-revert rule on Prem Rawat and related articles that commenced March 4, 2008, has been superceeded by Arbitration Committee enforced article probation. The next time you consider using intellect as a mask for your true agenda, ponder that your quote betrays no more depth of thought or consideration than the dribble produced for mass-consumption by Nichez.
And your address of the legitimacy of organized religion based on the motivation of their adherents in taking them up is circular and non-sensical at best! Why not address a particular religion as to its truth, or worse, all of them as being untrue. What does their adherents' motivations have to do with these religions' claims as to what is true and what is not.

Why is Sathya Sai Baba movement unbalanced?Because there is quite obviously nothing featured relating to the public reception of the movement. Also, there are a number of web based sources used, these are weak verifiers, especially if the site is a Sai Baba site. Plus, there is nothing about the controversey surrounding the miracle work, or the attempts to debunk it, the videos that evidence trickery, or anything about certain key followers responses to abuse allegations. Also, nothing about the movements ties to state government and policing or the wider influential network that includes a number of notable individuals. Mediation on Prem RawatAndries, you were involved in Vassyana's informal mediation on the Prem Rawat articles, and I was not. However I read through the talk pages earlier this year and got the impression that over that lengthy mediation Vassyana had tended to support one side more than another. For that reason I have opposed Vassyana's nomination for ArbCom. Another user has stated that they don't think Vassyana showed partiality. I don't want to make a big case of this, but I suppose it'd be helpful to other voters to provide some evidence. Defense of neutral editingHi, Andries I wonder if you remember me from the old days (like 2004) when we worked together on cult articles. As I recall, you and I took opposite sides yet always worked together without any friction. Each of us respected the work of the other, and both of us felt free to describe the opposing points of view on ideas such as cult brainwashing. Regarding your comment at the Cirt RFC do you think you can elaborate a bit more on the connection between what you say about Cirt and the statement you make about Melton and other sources on NRMs. Those of us who are not as familiar with Cirt's editing in that area may not understand why you are talking about those sources. I don't understand why. I agree with you that they are reliable sources, but am not sure why you are pointing that out. Thanks.Griswaldo (talk) 13:05, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
Andries, I'm no expert when it comes to Melton or the study of NRMs, but I do have a fair amount of basic knowledge of this area in the study of religion. What people like Melton are doing is really, and perhaps surprisingly to ex-members, very mainstream when it comes to religious studies methodology. When religion scholars study mainstream religions they rarely incorporate the testimony of apostates. Now, I understand that there are contextual differences that might suggest that apostate (or "ex-member") experiences are more important in the NRM field than in the study of religion more generally -- for instance NRMs have a much higher turnover rate in membership. So maybe someone like Melton is applying standard methods to a fault and maybe there are fair criticisms to be had there. That said, I think there is a lack of appreciation among those who criticize his work, and that of many of his colleagues, of that fact that their approach is really very standard within the study of religion, and to them treating NRMs differently than other religions would be doing them an injustice. Cheers.Griswaldo (talk) 14:20, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

MetatheoriesI am open minded to alternative titles of that article. My main concern is preserving the "metatheories of religion" category. Would any of these work for you? If the inclusion of Freud is the issue, perhaps "Behavioral" in the title would help?

I saw your comment from earlier this month on the New religious movements work group page, but saw that your user page listed you as retired so I didn't reach out to you immediately. I'm wondering if you might actually be around and have time to look over the conversation on the discussion page. It took me a little while to find some editors interested in discussing improvements to the page and there seemed to be a lot of enthusiasm early on, but now unfortunately the conversation has gone quiet. I just posted a little summary on the discussion page that I think will help get you caught up on what has been discussed and done so far. Do you think that maybe you would have time to look at this? Each year we do this by bestowing two awards: the Military Historian of the Year and the Military History Newcomer of the Year. Nominations for both awards are open between 00:01 on 2 December 2017 and 23:59 on 15 December 2017. After this, a 14-day voting period will follow commencing at 00:01 on 16 December 2017. April 2018 Milhist Backlog DriveG'day all, please be advised that throughout April 2018 the Military history Wikiproject is running its annual backlog elimination drive. This will focus on several key areas:
As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement. The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the scope of military history will be considered eligible. This year, the Military history project would like to extend a specific welcome to members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red, and we would like to encourage all participants to consider working on helping to improve our coverage of women in the military. This is not the sole focus of the edit-a-thon, though, and there are aspects that hopefully will appeal to pretty much everyone. The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 April and runs until 23:59 UTC on 30 April 2018. Those interested in participating can sign up here. Rejuvenate WikiProject SkepticismHello - my name is Susan Gerbic (Sgerbic) and I'm writing to you because at some point you joined Wikipedia:WikiProject Skepticism. This might have been months ago - or even years ago. With the best of intentions the project was created years ago, and sadly like many WikiProjects has started to go dormant. A group of us are attempting to revitalize the Skepticism project, already we have begun to clean up the main page and I've just redone the participant page. No one is in charge of this project, it is member directed, which might have been the reason it almost went dormant. We are attempting to bring back conversations on the talk page and have two subprojects as well, in the hopes that it might spark involvement and a way of getting to know each other better. One was created several years ago but is very well organized and a lot of progress was made, Wikipedia:WikiProject Skepticism/Skeptical organisations in Europe. The other I created a couple weeks ago, it is very simple and has a silly name Wikipedia:WikiProject Skepticism/Skepticism Stub Sub-Project Project (SSSPP). This sub-project runs from March 1 to June 1, 2022. We are attempting to rewrite skepticism stubs and add them to this list. As you can see we have already made progress. The reason I'm writing to you now is because we would love to have you come back to the project and become involved, either by working on one of the sub-projects, proposing your own (and managing it), or just hanging out on the talk page getting to know the other editors and maybe donate some of your wisdom to some of the conversations. As I said, no one is in charge, so if you have something in mind you would like to see done, please suggest it on the talk page and hopefully others will agree. Please add the project to your watchlist, update your personal user page showing you are a proud member of WikiProject Skepticism. And DIVE in, this is what the work list looks like [3] frightening at first glance, but we have already started chipping away at it. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Skepticism/Participants page has gone though a giant change - you may want to update your information. And of course if this project no longer interests you, please remove your name from the participant list, we would hate to see you go, but completely understand. Thank you for your time, I hope to edit with you in the future.Sgerbic (talk) 06:48, 17 March 2022 (UTC) The Bugle: Issue CLXXVII, March 2022

The voting will occur here; sorry about the need for a second message and the inadvertent omission from the prior one. Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Prem Rawat: Contentious topic designation removedHello Andries, As a very late update to the Prem Rawat arbitration case, the contentious topic designation, previously "discretionary sanctions", originally "article probation", has been removed following a successful request for amendment. Any actions previously taken in accordance with the contentious topic designation remain in force and are governed by the contentious topics procedure. This notification may be mostly unnecessary, but as you had been a party to the original case, I thought you might be interested in hearing that after about 15 years, this remnant has been removed. Until today, it was listed at Wikipedia:General sanctions § Arbitration Committee-authorised sanctions. Best regards, The Bugle: Issue 211, November 2023
