Are Cheras really NāgasHi there is certain ambiguity regarding cheras being nagas. Since the ezhava page claims they are founders of chera dynasty and were villavars or something like that. Some claim Cheras are of Tamil origin related to Cholas or Pallava and maybe Thevar/Vellala.and another thing in the nagavanshi page you linked naga people instead of Nāgas of hindu mythology, naga people of north east are tribal austroloid and they have nothing to do with serpent people mentioned in hindu mythology.i corrected that error.anyways adding the cheras as Nāgas will create a lot of controversy.Linguisticgeek (talk) 05:48, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
I do not doubt nairs are nagas,The Nairs and their related communities are ethnically very different from most south indian communities. But if you observe history carefully the first mention of nairs in kerala is towards the end of the chera period.i.e 9th century. The first dynsty in south india that really has naga origin are the kadambas of karnataka(kadamba is still a surname among the bunts)Kadambas are credited with settling Nagavanshis and Brahmins(Nambis) from achichatram so it is my personal opinion that the nagas first settled in coastal karnataka established their kingdom and then some nagas proceded southwards and conquered kerala.late the naga empires of the area what is called parashuram kshetra became subordinate to the vijayangara rule and the nagas(both nair and bunts) were generals in the vijayanagara time until well one Bunt general Tuluva narasa nayaka captured power and lay the foundations of the most powerful nagavanshi dynasty that controlled whole of the south.I am not sure,History in india is not properly documented. If you have ever been to hampi you will be astonished to see the sheer number of serpent shrines as well as serpent images carved on the temples. These are mostly from the rule of time of the Tuluva Dynasty(nagavanshis).Anyways Nagavanshis have also refused to accept brahmin supremacy in religious matters therefore brahmins esp the nambis did not accept nagas as legitimate rulers and many of samantha kshatriyas were blackmailed into going through the hiranyagarbha ritual so that they can be chandravanshi though they really are nagas.another fact that needs to be mentioned about nagas is that malayalam separated from tamil around the same time when nagas invaded kerala.though this theory is not widely accepted and i don't think it is wikipedia material, but linguistic changes in a region is mostly attributed to outsiders(in this case nagavanshis in kerala)Linguisticgeek (talk) 06:38, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
Nagavanshis first settled in south to establish the kadamba kingdom then proceded towards kerala and maybe initially served as warriors first unders the cheras and later when the chera kingdom fell they rose to prominence establishing their own small kingdoms in different parts of kerala.Cheras were a royal family and had nothing to do with any community is my opinion.they might have mixed origins i believe they were most likely to be Thevar/Vellala origin who might have integrated with the neighbouring nagas of the kadamba kingdom.see this period in kerala history is not properly known. i have read a lot of works but all are not very clear about who the cheras really were.apart from snake chera also means coconut in older dialects of Tamil and is very much related to the word kera.Your version that the cheras were pure nagas is not correct though the ezhava origin is as you said really laughable.ezhava were always a community of servants who served the ruling clans and warriors in kerala and were brought from sri lanka to serve the nairs, bunts and Thevar/Vellala rulers before.though nowadays who can't say this in kerala or in karnataka.Linguisticgeek (talk) 07:07, 29 December 2009 (UTC) Hi,Anand and firstly A very happy new year.secondly i just cleaned up the intro of the samanta kshatriya page and instead of refering to Samantas also known as malayala kshatriya,i changed it to highest order of malayala kshatriya(is that ok).secondly if you do have time could you please look in the article Kingdom of Cochin, the article i think has been a little messed up a certain user called Vilmeenkodi,he was even messing up the malayalam language page by adding unsourced statements.i reverted those edits.i am not editing the cochin article is because i myself do not have a lot of info about the cochin kingdom.can you refer some good books which are exclusively related to cochin kingdom(if you know that is, i am searching too)Linguisticgeek (talk) 09:39, 1 January 2010 (UTC) Would You care to reply? Madras regiment. This is how the madras regiment came into existence. please correct it. dont promote your own interests. In 1748 Major Stringer Lawrence, a veteran of action in Spain, Flanders and the Highlands, was hired by the East India Comp-any to take charge of the defence of Cuddalore. He laid the foundations of what was to become the Indian Army. Training the levies to become a militia, the Madras Levies were formed into "companies" and trained to become a disciplined and fine fighting force. In 1758 Lawrence raised the Madras Regiment, forming the several Companies of Madras Levies into two battalions. 2 Madras was raised in 1776 as 15 Carnatic Infantry at Thanjavur [and underwent many nomenclature changes thereafter]. The Madras Regiment, grown to 52 battalions by 1826, has a glorious record, interrupted between 1928 and 1941 when it was disbanded by local officials who favoured the Punjabi, Dogra and Gurkha troops of the northwest Raj. The needs of World War II caused the resurrection of the Regiment. http://www.bharat-rakshak.com/LAND-FORCES/Units/Infantry/101-Madras.html ( this is the official indian army site ). If you are not willing to correct it then I will take this dispute to the editor. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.22.69.52 (talk) 18:08, 9 January 2010 (UTC) Peacock usagesKindly keep the article such as Nambiar, menon and Samanthan Nair devoid of peacock terms and adequately referenced when you choose to revert from an earlier referenced version —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sanam001 (talk • contribs) 09:15, 13 January 2010 (UTC) FACTS about Peacock items1. Fawcett, Edgar thurston all agree that menon is a dignified royal scribe. The Akattu charna nayar is some what “middle class” in the nair ranking system. 2. Male members of cochin royal family engaged in sambandham unions with Nayar women of Kerala and is not restricted to those dignified as menon alone. So only individual cases of such unions with menons existed . So this claim that it is “only” to menon women is bogus. If you have any source that it was restricted to menons you must cite it in the article. 3. Paliath Govindan Achan (and not Govinda menon) was the last Paliath Achan to occupy the position of Prime Minister in the Kingdom of Cochin until 1825. Infact Nadavarambu Kunhikrishna Menon who succeded Paliath Givindachan was a rival of the Paliam family. Paliath Govindan achan was imprisoned and later died in 1832 in Benares. Diwans of Cochin Thottakkat Govinda Menon (son of Sankunni Warrier) and later his brother of Thottakkat Sankunni Menon were all appointees to the office of Diwan of cochin after the hereditary prime minister ship of the Paliam family to cochin was abolished by the Raja of Cochin and did not belong to the Paliam family. So donot confuse between paliath Govindan achan and Thottakkat Govinda Menon. Inspite of these historical facts if you have statements in a historical document that Paliam family was a menon family then you should cite it in the article otherwise the claim is bogus. So i am reverting the article to keep it accurate. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sanam001 (talk • contribs) 12:33, 13 January 2010 (UTC) NPOVReversal refusing DiscussionThe menon article has peacock terms without citation as described in the discussion section of the article. Understand about nayars without sub-clan prejudiceReference-1 Changing Kinship Usages in the Setting of Political and Economic Change Among the Nayars of Malabar E. Kathleen Gough http://www.jstor.org/stable/2844041 In essence nobody refutes that the ruling elite of nads were higher sub-divisions of nairs or Samantha Kshatriya who derive their ancestry from sudra stock. However it is the proportion of nayars that were ruling elite and nayars that had other professions that is the issue to be considered while framing a definition for nayars. Nayars professed wide variety of professions. To be precise, what K.Glough notes is that not much is known about the traditional kinship among servant classes of nayars and not that they are not recognized as Nayars. Also kindly read properly maintaining your objectivity and not taking things too personal . See page 2 para 1 on left where she gives the distribution frequency of nayar profession based sub-clans in a representative proportion. Now you will understand that the proportion of lineages that are retainers , oil-mongerers , pot makers or funeral priests are in proportions higher than the chiefly lineages and that mutual ritual ranking between is clear (not unequivocal) . Reference -2 The Internal Structure of the Nayar Caste, CJ Fuller “eighteen Nayar subdivisions are listed (with their traditional occupations) in order of rank……………………” Akattu charna nayars (clerks, domestics and scribes) , Urali nayars (masons) , Pallichan (palanquin bearer), Chembu-kotti (copper-smith), Chakkala nayar, Vattakadu nayar (oil mongerer), Vilakkithala nayar (barber), Veluthedathu nair (Washer-man), Attikurisssi nayar (funeral priests) are all nayar castes only different in their ritualistic ranking from the ruling elite or mercenary/soldier ranks. Do not overlook these professional divisions and ego-based claim that all nayars are ruling elite. It is anthropologically and historically incorrect. Kindly read documents and research articles more objectively. Again you seem to be ignorant about NSS. Although many divisions of nayars are lower ritual rank , the NSS also accepts them as nayars. You can contact the following members of NSS. Sri.P.V.Neelakanta Pillai, Advocate President Nalanda, Kottiyode, Attingla-P.O., Thiruvananthapuram District. Phone:0481-24220330 (Residence), 0481-2410566 (Office) 3. Nair articleLet us give the details such as classificationof nair in separate section. Let the article be readable with. The first sentence itself was a mess - a biased one. Why are you reverting without any discussion? There are many sub-sects in Nairs which are not Khshathriyas. So a separate section is needed distinguishing this. It is necessary for the article to be neutral. If you are so curious with the purity of the artile read the Etymology section. From months it says in its very first sentence that "The word Nair lends itself to two etymological interpretations". But only one interpretation is given there.Where is the second one?. The second was there very long back. But the majority kshathriya-biased nair wikipedians removed it. However they forget to remove the first sentence of this section. The article is totally biased with inappropriate sections. A complete clean-up is required. The term "Malayala Kshathriya" surprised me a lot. Have you heard any where in kerala such a term in common use? Snnair (talk) 06:18, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Deutsche Nationalkreis Asowo, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article that does not provide sufficient context to identify its subject. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Nair ceremonies and customsI am removing huge chunks from Nair ceremonies and customs, an article that you created in 2009. I think that you may have done this as an unattributed fork from Nair but, in any event, right from the outset the article contained massive chunks which violated copyright and which were (and remain) uncited. My suspicion is that there will not be much left of it by the time I have finished, sorry. - Sitush (talk) 11:53, 29 May 2011 (UTC) Several editors have been trying very hard to improve the Nair article of late, and while it is perfectly valid to criticise what they are producing, Wikipedia policies require that you assume good faith, act in accordance with the project's civility guidelines, and do not issue any personal attacks or threats. If you feel that material added to the article is incorrect, please find reliable sources to back up your arguments, and present and discuss them in a civil manner. And when editors point to the sources they have actually used, please discuss them calmly and civilly - the way to dispute sources is by finding alternative sources which contradict them, not by simply insulting the Wikipedia editor or the source's author. If you believe an author is biased or otherwise incorrect, you need to find an alternative source to contradict them. Also, please note that nobody editing the article is insulting Nair people, or calling them dogs, or anything of the sort - even the disputed "dog" reference isn't actually calling any people "dogs". Accusations that editors are calling Nairs "dogs" are unacceptable. A number of comments made in edit summaries and on the Talk page recently have been unacceptable, including your comment here, and the personal attack you made here. If you make any further comments in a similar tone, there is a very strong chance you will be blocked from editing - but I hope it does not come to that, and that you will instead make constructive contributions. Please have a look over Wikipedia's reliable sourcing and verifiability policies, and try to keep your contributions in line with them Best regards -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 20:15, 6 June 2011 (UTC) Hello, Anandks007. Thank you.
The article Secure Data Recovery has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article, which appeared to be about a real person, individual animal, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.
