By the way, I notice you've been putting dates in as Date Month Year, which is the standard across the encyclopedia as we are a global resource. However, the relevant section of the Wikipedia's Manual of Style indicates that in cases where the article has a strong connection to a country, that country's date format should be used. Here in the United States, Month Date Year is the standard. This is not a major issue, but is something you might consider in the future. Thank you for helping improve Wikipedia! FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 19:45, 25 February 2013 (UTC)NoteI've noticed that you recently have been changing the name of the Ball Park stop. Even if you are correct, you cannot change article links without consensus, and it is creating unnecessary redirects. This is especially important when referring to a GA (Good Article). Either create a discussion to change the title or undo your changes. Sorry for being so forward, but your changes are only making things harder for future editors. Griffinofwales (talk) Simple English Wikipedia - Come and join! 23:51, 28 February 2013 (UTC) Correcting Ballpark article title will create redirects no matter how is it done. In this case, the redirects were fixed FIRST and then the article. When all is done there will be MINIMIAL redirects. An Errant Knight (talk) 00:59, 1 March 2013 (UTC) With this diff, I don't see how that section specifically applies to that station. I can see it being a good paragraph to add to the Frontrunner article, but it appears off-topic on the NTB/G station article. Griffinofwales (talk) Simple English Wikipedia - Come and join! 18:21, 17 March 2013 (UTC) Minor editsJust a heads up: you're really not supposed to be marking all of your edits as minor edits. The minor edit checkbox is for if you're just fixing a spelling error or something like that. If you actually add information to an article, it doesn't count as a minor edit. That is my opinion. If you don't like it, you can move the article into mainspace. You have enough edits you don't need to go through AfC. LionMans Account (talk) 00:30, 17 April 2013 (UTC) You're welcome. If you don't want to go through Articles for Comment, you can create articles in your own userspace and they won't get removed (except for copyright violations). Those are especially useful for articles which take a long time to create. When you're done, move it into mainspace. I presume they were the roads that the connecting road joined but I can assure you that this is not necessary. Can you take a look? List of United States light rail systems by ridershipHello An Errant Knight! I noticed that you just updated the ridership figures at List of United States light rail systems by ridership. Thanks for doing that. A quick point, though, about updating ridership figures at lists such as this one – when you update the 'Avg. weekday ridership' figures as you did, you also have to remember to update the figures in the 'Rider[ship] per mile' column at the same time, as the latter numbers are based on the former numbers. So could you update the 'Rider[ship] per mile' figures as well, when you get the chance? Thanks! --IJBall (talk) 07:09, 7 February 2015 (UTC) Disambiguation link notification for February 7Hi. WikiProject Stub sorting handles that aspect of the encyclopedia and is somewhat active. They request that new stub categories be first proposed over there, and unlike the rest of the categorization scheme, frown upon categories which are underpopulated and/or too specific. SOME of these new categories could be adequately populated simply by adding the appropriate stub templates to articles. While many new stubs are created by new users unfamiliar with that process, many more are created by experienced editors who tag the articles seemingly at random and act like they could care less, usually because they're mass-creating stubs from a template they've created. As "managing" Alaska stubs is another huge task I've been performing almost single-handedly, sufficient progress hasn't occurred for that very reason. I'm tracing out the history of the Keystone Service and its predecessors, and I think some of the history you've added to 30th Street Station and Suburban Station may not be quite correct. It appears from a careful reading of the old schedules (which are often anything but clear) that Amtrak took over HBG-30th-Suburban service in 1971, and renamed it Silverliner Service in 1972 and Keystone Service in 1981. Service to Suburban ended in 1988 as you've cited (probably in conjunction with full dieselization), but the service was just rerouted to 30th Street lower level, and it wasn't until the mid-1990s that some trains got extended to NYP with the engine change at 30th. I'm going to be adding the full history with citations to the article, and correcting the listings and templates elsewhere, over the next day or few. Since some of this may substantially modify or remove work you've done previously, I just wanted to let you know what was going on so it didn't appear I was acting in bad faith. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. No quadrant in Salt Lake street namesI just noticed the Blue Line (TRAX), Red Line (TRAX) and Green Line (TRAX) articles have quadrants in front of the street names in the route description, e.g. the article says:
instead of as reads more natural to me:
I see you made these changes back on 2 December 2013. I have lived off and on in different parts of Salt Lake County for 35 years, and I have never heard local residents say the quadrant in front of a street name, nor do the quadrants appear on official signs (see e.g. this street view among thousands of possible examples). I only see and hear the quadrant in Google Maps driving directions, and attribute that to the fact Google's software devs do not live in the area. Do you have a source for these changes? Any objection if I remove the quadrants? Your other changes are quite useful and I would leave them alone, as well as the many changes editors have made since then. Do you have any plans for article expansion? I ask as I have never seen more than a brief mention of the town in any source on Utah or railroad history and I'm of the opinion this would be better covered in as a paragraph or two in the article about the cape. I'm of the opinion that one B class article is better than 2 stubs when it comes to closely related subjects. There is some precedence for this, Soldier Summit and Sherman, Wyoming are similar cases. Do you have any objections to combining the articles? If you are working on an article expansion I wouldn't want to mess those up, but in their current state, I don't see the point of having separate articles. This means that practically any sizable developed settlement is very likely to be incorporated, since there is no other way to provide, e.g. a local fire or police department. In such areas, unincorporated place names are usually just informal toponyms for the nebulous area surrounding a highway or rail junction, or a few square miles of land, and as such no formal boundaries have been defined by anyone with any real authority to define them. Using such toponyms, then, is essentially original research, unless you use lots of messy citations just to prove that the SH-12/SH-41 junction really does fall within the commonly-accepted definition of Bingoville or whatever. The sorts of placenames described above are not of much use to the reader anyway. They are generally only known by the few hundred people that live in the area, usually don't appear on anything but the most detailed maps, and are nearly always a redlink unless the editor that adds them to a junction list is kind enough to take the time to provide a stub providing a little more context. That means that the right thing to do is very often to simply leave the location column blank. (Some editors provide a survey township name in this situation, but in my experience absolutely nobody has heard of these, much less would find them helpful in locating a highway junction, so I never added them to junction lists when I was actively making new ones.) That being said, the situation is entirely different in other areas, such as the northeast US. Here, township governments exist, and therefore you can have a settlement that is large enough to even be a county seat, but nonetheless is not incorporated as a separate entity, because the necessary government services are provided by the township. I've never lived in such an area, so I may be getting some of the details wrong there. I would think, though, that including an unincorporated community of that type in a junction list would be justified, so long as there's a CDP definition or some other clear, reliably-sourced definition of what the boundaries of that placename are. —Scott5114↗ [EXACT CHANGE ONLY] 02:56, 27 September 2022 (UTC)
