User talk:Amir85/Archive1Listing of some of you images on Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images
Removing {{unverifiedimage}} tagsPlease do not removed {{unverifiedimage}} tags from the pages. They are there according to the Wikipedia policies at WP:PUI. You have been told about the listing of some of the images you have uploaded on that page at least 15 days ago, and you had not answered the claims, so the images proceeded to Phase II, which requires putting {{unverifiedimage}} tags everywhere the images are used. If you have any reason why these images should be considered "free" according to Wikipedia policies, please mention so and your reasoning on the WP:PUI page. When the problem is resolved, we can remove those tags. (BTW, I have also answered your comments on my talk page. Go there to read them). Thank you very much, roozbeh 13:15, September 2, 2005 (UTC) Removing {{PUIdisputed}} tagsAs mentioned in the text of the {{PUIdisputed}} tags themselves, please do not remove the tags until the issue is resolved on the Wikipedia:Possibly Unfree Images. In case you have reasons that the images are really {{fairuse}} (contrary to your previous claim that they were {{attribution}}), please provide them on Wikipedia:Possibly Unfree Images. I have put the tags back. Thank you very much, roozbeh 18:18, September 2, 2005 (UTC) Thanks for mentioning some of your sourcesThank you very much for your help. I am confirming your sources and changing the tags as appropriate. Thanks again, roozbeh 19:32, September 2, 2005 (UTC) I have now verified five of your uploaded images, Image:Sassanian silver plate.jpg, Image:Sassanian silver vessels.jpg, Image:Sassanian king.jpg, Image:Derafsh.gif, and Image:13 achaemenid gold earing.jpg. I completed their image page to mention their exact license status, and removed the {{unverifiedimage}} tags from the pages that used them. I am checking your other sources now. roozbeh 20:53, September 2, 2005 (UTC) Licenses I can't verifyDear Amir85, I checked the sources for three of the other images you have uploaded, Image:E3 5 4a sassanian.jpg, Image:Parthian art 1.jpg, and Image:07b.jpg. The first two come from the State Hermitage Museum website and the last comes from Asianart.com. You have said that "usage allowed with mention of the refernce site". But I cannot find that anywhere on those two websites:
If you know any page on those websites that allows such usage (mentioning only the reference site), or you have any other reason that this is the case, would you please tell us? Thanks again, roozbeh 21:13, September 2, 2005 (UTC)
Sources I can't verifyDear Amir85, I tried to verify the source for the other image you had mentioned the source, Image:Map sassanid empire.jpg. You have mentioned: "Source for Image:Map sassanid empire.jpg (members.aol.com/ahreemanx/page77.html) friend of mine in US." Unfortunately, it seems that I cannot visit the URL you mentioned, http://members.aol.com/ahreemanx/page77.html does not work. Would you please check to see if you can find the correct URL? Thanks, roozbeh 21:26, September 2, 2005 (UTC)
Remaining imagesOK, you have now provided sources for nine of the images you have uploaded. There are problems (as mentioned above, like a URL not working) that we would appreciate if you could help us in resolving them. But we still need the sources for some of the other disputed pages you have uploaded. You can either mention them at the WP:PUI page (or my own talk page, so I can help you in resolving the issues, if you wish). For your record, these are the images that you have not yet mentioned any source for: Image:WingedBullPersepolis Amiet.jpg, Please provided sources and licenses for these, if you know them. The {{PUIdisputed}} and {{unverified}} tags will be removed from the pages as soon as the sources and their licensing could be verified. Thanks a lot, roozbeh 21:48, September 2, 2005 (UTC) More verificationsImage:Naqshe rostam.jpg has been verified why again you unverified it ? and hurry in verification of other images. --Amir85
Stop playing games in sassanid army , first of all I have their permission to use their materials and secondly it is not a copy of original. --Amir85
Request for AdminshipHi Amir. I have removed your request from RfA as the form you created had remained blank for several hours. If you wish to proceed with your request simply re-add your nomination and answer the questions provided. However, I would strongly suggest that you reconsider your application as it has almost no chance of succeeding and the process can be very rough. Generally speaking, all successful candidates for adminship have over 1000 edits, or are very close to this figure, you fall somewhat short of this. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Rje 01:06, September 4, 2005 (UTC) Making ComplaintsIf you wish to make a complaint about the behaviour of an admin, or any user for that matter, the place to do so is at Wikipedia:Requests for comment/User conduct. The instructions are on the page. The process is usually very fair, but it can be a little slow. Hope this helps. Rje 12:33, September 4, 2005 (UTC) Image Tagging Image:Stone sold.jpgThanks for uploading Image:Stone sold.jpg. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag, so its copyright status is therefore unclear. Please add a tag to let us know its copyright status. (If you created/took the picture then you can use {{gfdl}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{fairuse}}.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know on the image description page where you got the images and I'll tag them for you. Otherwise, see Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. Thanks so much. --Secretlondon 21:28, 13 September 2005 (UTC) Vote for CIS CountriesDear Amir; Please go to Template_talk:Europe and vote to oppose with the Armenia, Georgia and Kazakhstan to become part of Europe. These countries have always been Asians. --Mehrdad 13:37, 1 October 2005 (UTC) Battles of the Sassanid EmpireI've taken the liberty of moving the battles to Category:Battles of the Sassanid Empire, since convention is to capitalize "Empire" in such category names. If you have some free time, you may want to take a look at Category:Battles of Persia, into which some of them had been previously filed, to see if any battles need their categories fixed. Battles of PersiaI've changed the nesting of Category:Battles of Persia to be a super-category for the various dynasties and states (similar to Category:Battles of Ancient Greece or Category:Battles of Rome); I hope you don't mind. Since you seem to know a lot about this topic, perhaps you could clarify a few things I'm not sure about. Should Category:Battles of the Ghaznavid Empire go under Category:Battles of Persia as well? Also, do we need a Category:Battles of the Achaemenid Empire to contain battles fought during the Greco-Persian Wars? I'd appreciate some guidance on these questions, since I'm not really an expert on the history of the region. Thanks in advance! Kirill Lokshin 02:17, 11 November 2005 (UTC) Complaints re copyviosAs I recall, it was Sponsianus who was complaining that he had written an article for Iranchamber, which you had plagiarized. But the record was on your talk page, and has apparently been deleted.
As for the copyvio question -- just look at your talk page now. Whenever I google for text that you've written, I find the original on the web, at one site or another. QED. Zora 11:45, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
Battle of KasidiyaAmir, I checked on this article and found that it was a copyvio. I put up the notice -- and immediately afterwards, a new editor who wrote his MA thesis on the battle put up a new version of the article. Usually we're supposed to wait a week before taking down the copyvio and putting the temp page in place. Are you going to challenge the copyvio findings, or would you allow the new version to be put in place immediately? Zora 02:04, 23 November 2005 (UTC) Bad newsThe pic you've uploaded (important!) is now listed under Deletion requests (http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests#Image:Sassanid_dynasty.gif), because copyright and noncommercial use is not allowed in Wikimedia. Maybe you do something about it. It'll be very sad if it is deleted. -- Scriberius 11:16, 29 November 2005 (UTC) Hi!If you have any comments about Zora, good or bad, that you want to share with a comunity, you can do so here: [4] --Striver 15:52, 15 December 2005 (UTC) LOLYour only in india series is hillarious ^_^ Keep up the good work =D --J7 05:15, 17 December 2005 (UTC) Salaam, need your help!Hi Amir! There's this editor who keeps insisting that Al-Khwarizmi was an Arab because he wrote his books in Arabic. You can see the discussion at the bottom of Talk:Hindu-Arabic numerals. We want to emphasize the contributions Persian mathematicians made in popularizing the numerals, but he insists only Arabs be mentioned. Your comment will be appreciated. I sent this message to Zereshk too. Khoda Hafez! deeptrivia (talk) 05:34, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
Deletion of 'liberals wikipedians' categoryHi. I saw you're (like me) listed in this category which is up for deletion. Hoped you'd like to vote in favor of keeping it... Thanks! Larix 23:12, 19 December 2005 (UTC) Slow down, pleaseAmir, you've now done three reverts in less than 24 hours on the Islamic conquest of Iran page. If I were malicious, I would let you do a fourth and thus be blocked for a while. But since I have to try to be nice (as hard as it is, given my human frailty), I'm going to tell you that you're in the danger zone now. Better me than an admin. SalamSalam agha Amir85. My name is Aytakin and I have seen the great contributions you have made to articles about of Iran, spicifically on history of Iran and that is why I am contacting you today. I am wroking on a website (http://www.iranclub.ca] about Iran which will have everything from editorials and deep information on history to current soccer scores and live TV and our own 24/7 radio! I am also working on a wiki[5] for information on everything relating to Iran. I am very much in need of some extra people to help me on this project. If you are intrested please reply, Thank you. --(Aytakin) | Talk 17:24, 29 December 2005 (UTC) FunnySee where our work ends up?! WikiProject Military history: Coordinator elections--Loopy e 05:15, 23 January 2006 (UTC) Iran Website...Merci, I contacted you because I saw all the effort you put in into Iranian topics. The main reason for the Wiki that I'm creating is to have a huge Iranian Information Database for Iranians who might have any questions. The website will include many things such as, our own live 24/7 radio, Iranian TV programs, forums, music, downloads, etc... You ask how you can help, I would appreatiate any help on any section of it. If you want to add information to the Wiki or if you are very stong in a prticular subject about Iran and would like to write articles or want to keep up the sport section, its up to you. The website is not complete yet, because first I want to get some people who are intrested in working on it and than we will get started. But until then I would appreatiate any help I can get on the wiki. Thanks, khodahafez --(Aytakin) | Talk 23:19, 24 January 2006 (UTC) Check it oooooooout!!!

I have plenty of source material regarding the Sassanids, Achaemenids, and ancient Persia in general, but I have to clean up and expand a number of articles first before I can get to that. So probably in about a week or two I'll have enough time to help there. Also, at some point we have to expand the Persian/Zoroastrian mythology articles - big time. I noticed your work there, and you're doing a great job so far. Soon I'll be able to concentrate my efforts there as well. Offer to helpGreat work on Taq-e Bostan. Any time you want help "polishing" your English, please feel free to send me an e-mail. You write beautifully on this topic, and I am very interested in reading more about Iran's national treasures. Rklawton 04:44, 15 February 2006 (UTC)
I have completed editing Taq-e Bostan, Shapur I of Persia, and Yazdegerd III of Persia today. I am sorry to report that the coin image you added to the Yazdegerd III of Persia article no longer works. Rklawton 03:43, 17 February 2006 (UTC) Featured ArticleHey, I thought about it and I looked at some of the pages which I thought were good enough to be a featured article cantidate, but they each have their flaws: Iran - It is very messy and it was previously nominated and in its talk page there are the reason why it didn't make it. Tehran - It has a lot of information and it just need to be cleaned up a bit. Persian Empire - Some citations need to be fixed, but other than that I think this is one of our strongest chances in having a featured article. I think we should fix the Persian Empire article and go with that, what do you think? --(Aytakin) | Talk 20:17, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
Hi Amir. I think User:wikiacc has been working on trying to get the main page of Iran become a featured article. Some people are also doing the same for Iran-Iraq war. But I havent been active in that area lately. What has been occupying my time recently is just merely trying to defend and stop some malicious users from destroying some important Iranian articles.--Zereshk 22:04, 17 February 2006 (UTC) Hi again!Hi Amir, I am from Delhi, but right now studying in the US. PicturesDear Amir85 Please note that many pictures on IranChamber.Com were taken from my website (http://www.livius.org). This is something you can not know and for which I certainly do not blame you; yet, I would appreciate it if you refer to the original site. If you have an opinion on this topic, please join the Talk:Persian_people, so we can reach a consensus for the removal of the "dispute tag". --ManiF 18:16, 26 February 2006 (UTC) POVMy point of view is that I want the article to remain the same but Aucaman intends to change this paragraph:

You're not supposed to remove dispute tags placed by other users (especially without explanation). See WP:Vandalism. Hello. Before making potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Otherwise, people might consider your edits to be vandalism. Thank you. Could you also transliterite is back for me as it appears to be too long for his full name, but too short for his las name. Cheers, —Ruud 11:21, 27 February 2006 (UTC) Iranian WatchdogAucaman and a few others like Heja Helweda and Diyako have been repeatedly and systematically vandalizing the Iran-related topics such as Persian people and Iranian peoples, propagating false information, maliciously editing/disputing/deleting without one shred of proof to backup their wild claims, applying the strawman falsification approach, trying to establish new 'facts" based on their own personal assumptions and beliefs. In order to prevent this situation, we need to create an Iranian Watchdog on Wikipedia and guard the integrity and quality of all the Wikipedia articles that are related to Iran and Iranians. Please let me know if you think that's a good idea. --ManiF 12:59, 27 February 2006 (UTC) Looking for someone who speaks Farsi well.Hey there, I'm an Arabic speaker and student of Arabic Literature. As I am sure you are well aware, people often confuse words between the two languages and I am curious for the purposes of the article: Ghoul whether or not the word ghoul appears in Persian as gul/غول I am entirely certain the word is originally Arabic, because of it's relation to a specific root word. However since the word appears in Arabian Nights (Which has significant Persian influence) it would be remiss of me not to look into the Persian word for ghoul, though I suspect it is the same. So please leave a message on my talk page if you can help. Motashakkeram Angrynight 03:05, 28 February 2006 (UTC) Motashakkeram yet again, your advise has proven both invaluable and frustrating. Since Pahlavi script originates from Aramaic, and since the word seems to have been in the Arabic lexicon for some time (I say this due to its structure and use) I suspect it may well originate as far back as Aramaic and is shared by both languages. Much like the word "mirror" which seems to have insanely ancient roots, this word is old as hell. This of course entails yet more research, but it is enlightening in a way. Thank you for setting me off in a direction, I had a life before wikipedia *sigh*.
