Don

Hi Alvaro, good work on the French rivers! About the Don, the most notable river Don is the one in Russia, then there's two reasonably long ones in the UK, a small one in Canada. I just checked the Sandre site: in France there's a 30 km long Don, tributary of the Orne, and a 20 km long Don, tributary of the Canut (but géoportail calls the Canut Don, and the Canut/Don is a tributary of the Vilaine). Since there's two rivers called Don in France, I would call the river you're talking about Don (Vilaine). Markussep ^Talk 15:05, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Moder

There's no chance that the Moder comes into Germany, because it would have to cross the Rhine (that forms the border there) for that. Anyway: according to geoportail the Moder flows parallel to the Rhine for 2 km, and joins the Rhine just below the weir (barrage) of Iffezheim. Neuhaeusel is the closest village to this point, but it is on territory of Beinheim. I chose Neuhaeusel, no big deal IMO. Markussep ^Talk 14:33, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Bouzanne

Hi. You're doing a great job, but as you've asked for some help, I thought I'd add my two penn'orth. As an example, in the article on the river Bouzanne, I've introduced the convert template to all km measurements, for us Anglo-Saxons who prefer miles and I've one-worded directions like 'northwest' and swapped 'to' for 'of' in a couple of places. Lignon

Hi Alvaro, first of all: good work on all the river articles! About Lignon: since the article Lignon already exists, but covers a not so notable village, I think the way to go is to move Lignon to Lignon, Marne, and create a disambiguation page at Lignon. I will do that, with your two rivers on it.

Something else: you've probably been copying river data from French wikipedia sofar. Do you have access to books or internet sites with river data (discharge, basin area) that's not in the Sandre database? Wolf Rock, Cornwall article

Bonjour, Alvaro. I've just tagged Wolf Rock, Cornwall as a copyvio. Because it was a copyvio from day one (verified source pre-dates article through Internet Wayback Archive), has no substantive additions from others, and no clean version to revert to, it's tagged for speedy deletion. Non, le seul seul truc implicite qu'il pourrait y avoir, c'est que je trouve parfois heu... un peu dommage que tu consacres autant de temps aux articles de rivières et canaux sur la wiki anglophone. Je m'explique : d'une certaine manière, tout le monde peut faire le travail que tu fais sur les articles de la wiki anglophone, mais tout le monde ne peut pas forcément remplacer ta connaissance/expérience (appelle ça comme tu veux) de la wiki francophone. Autrement dit, si tu n'as pas le temps de rédiger tous les articles sur les sous-affluents de la Garonne, d'autres le feront; par contre tout le monde ne pourra pas remplacer l'expérience que tu as accumulée du fonctionnement de WP fr et les capacités de diplomatie/apaisement que tu y as déployées. 1. Je prends du plaisir à écrire ces articles ici (bien que vus seulement entre 50 et 100 fois par mois), c'est un truc à pas perdre de vue ; bien sûr, je préfèrerais bosser à l'amélioration de wp:fr, mais là... y'a pas l'obstacle de la langue ;D[1] et ça me gonfle de contribuer à un projet où l'on peut se faire traiter en toute impunité de nuisible, menteur, con, surtout par des admins ! dont certains sont, par ailleurs, extrêmement pointilleux sur les attaques personnelles.
2. Ce que tu appelles mes connaissance, mon expérience, mes capacités de diplomatie/apaisement... les arbitres, grosso modo, ont appelé ça mon attitude qui consiste à me placer en position de..., me l'ont reproché et m'ont même bloqué une semaine ! La vision que tu as de moi est peut-être partagée par pas mal de monde (?), en tout cas pas par tout le monde, surtout pas par une certaine bande de bruyants (avec des potes plus silencieux qui ne l'ouvrent que rarement, donc plus crédibles)  !

1. En moins cryptique : sur fr: je donne bcp plus facilement mon avis et je sors très vite des seuls articles ; alors que sur en: faut que je tourne 7 fois mon clavier dans ma main avant de me risquer ds une conversation.

• Sur le plaisir de contribuer. Rien à dire, ce qui sera moins long à lire :) Si, tout de même : j'ai vu des gens agressés se recentrer sur des sujets de prédilection (l'équivalent de tes rivières) ou, pour faire vite, des refuges intellectuels, et ne plus en sortir, parce qu'ils y étaient trop bien. Les grandes gueules ont fait la moitié du travail en les marginalisant, mais ils ont fait eux-mêmes l'autre moitié, si tu vois ce que je veux dire. (En réalité je ne pense pas que ça t'arriverait, mais le fait qu'on puisse contribuer soi-même à sa propre marginalisation est un truc pervers à ne pas perdre de vue.)
• Sur l'avis des Wikipédiens, de la majorité. Serais-tu prêt à mettre la vision que tu as de toi aux voix, surtout si ce sont les plus bruyantes ou les plus nombreuses ? • Ouf, thanks pour la concision de ta réponse quant au plaisir de contribuer ;D Oki avec toi sur l'auto-marginalisation mais bon, si en plus, une institution, comme le CAr, marginalise qq1, reste plus grand chose à faire. Et puis, qd les grandes gueules parviennent à moitié marginaliser qq1, ne pas la fermer c'est se retrouver à 75% marginalisé ;D et quand on en a marre, soit on s'en va, soit on se marginalise tranquillement dans une niche écologique, soit on se retrouve bloqué pour des motifs parfois à peine croyables.
• « Serais-je prêt à... » oui, mais comment faire ? ce n'est pas moi qu'il faut mettre aux voix, c'est ma vision. Et ma vision, elle est déjà dans nos divers textes : dialogue, respect, consensus, cordialité... Perso, j'ai mis ma vision du truc (pas ma vision de moi) aux voix, en me (re)présentant comme arbitre, en mars dernier. Programme assez clair : « marre du 2 poids / 2 mesures ». Presque 50/50, mais courte majorité de « contre » ; et écrasante majorité, parmi les « contre », de Power Users. Euh... à la réflexion, je viens de relire, et je n'ai pas vraiment compris cette phrase : « Serais-tu prêt à mettre la vision que tu as de toi aux voix, surtout si ce sont les plus bruyantes ou les plus nombreuses ? » Il faudrait que je mette ma vision de moi aux voix les plus bruyantes ou les plus nombreuses ? Non, façon de dire qu'on peut voter sur une vision de l'encyclopédie, mais pas sur une personnalité (et pourtant par exemple la procédure d'appel à commentaire sur un contributeur se change parfois en vote sur une personnalité). Donc ne pas trop rester sur les reproches voire sur les ad hominem car en définitive et comme tu le dis plus haut, c'est bien sur le terrain du fonctionnement de Wikipédia que se joue le vrai débat. • Ben oui, c'est con, de rester coincé sur de vieux trucs ; mais bon, qd j'interviens (en dehors de tte polémique) sur le bistro et que qq1 rappelle que le CAr « a demandé à Alvaro de réfléchir à son positionnement... » en clair, je ne peux plus rien dire ! que je reste, ou pas, coincé sur de vieux trucs.
• L'auto-marginalisation... elle est à l'oeuvre perpétuellement ; combien de gens, d'admins, ne participent plus sur le BA, combien de gens ne participent plus aux PàS ? aux débats sur les AdQ ? L'immense majorité des gens ne sont pas sur WP pour batailler et préfèrent battre en retraite face à des gens qui voient ça en terme de guerre ; oui, oui, j'ai vu l'expression écrite « si tu veux la guerre, tu l'auras. » Et quand on en a marre de ne plus participer à ça, à ça, puis à ça... on quitte WP, le plus souvent sans rien dire, l'écoeurement gagne petit à petit et il suffit d'un événement, très souvent insignifiant (au moins aux yeux des autres) pour faire déborder le vase.

Il y a peut-être quand même une solution: sur fr:Wikipédia:Prise de décision/Changement de la dénomination d'administrateur (2), plusieurs personnes, qu'elles soient pour, contre ou neutre, pointent la nécessité de réfléchir sur les fonctions des administrateurs et l'étendue de leurs pouvoirs. La question des blocages et d'un rôle "éditorialiste" a été soulevée. La page de discussion se fait l'écho de ces interrogations (là notamment, et ici, voir aussi ce sondage récent).

Or, il n'y a pas actuellement d'espace de réflexion ou de débat sur ces fonctions, leur définition et leur encadrement, alors qu'apparemment pas mal de personnes ont envie d'en parler (sur la pdd autour du nom d'opérateur, ce serait un peu hors-sujet et le vote a commencé). Une discussion communautaire serait sans doute utile pour clarifier la question. Sous quelle forme mener cette discussion ? Sondage ? Prise de décision, comme l'évoquaient certains si j'ai bonne mémoire ? En tout cas, il semble qu'il y ait un flou sur les pouvoirs liés au statut d'admin, ou bien des vues différentes, et la sortie du flou artistique passe peut-être par une discussion collective. En ce moment, sur fr: , on est dans la phase « tt le pouvoir aux admins », c-à-d, en réalité « tt le pouvoir à qq admins ». Une modification éventuelle, imho, ne peut que passer par une prise de conscience collective des + de 90% d'admins qui ne font pas partie de ces « qq admins ». Hi Alvaro, what exactly do you want to do (if you can't express it in English, try French)? You can create an article about the lake if you like. From what I see on geoportail, the lake is actually called Lac de l'Ailette or Plan d'eau de l'Ailette. Well, the discussion did say not to add anything else to it; it was closed. When it's closed, that basically means "don't modify this page". Hi. As you recently commented in the straw poll regarding the ongoing usage and trial of Pending changes, this is to notify you that there is an interim straw poll with regard to keeping the tool switched on or switching it off while improvements are worked on and due for release on November 9, 2010. I am more than a little surprised to see that you accepted an IP's revision to this article, given that I had previously rejected the same revision as an NPOV violation. There appears to be a dispute as to the historical facts involved, and WP:NPOV, which is policy, requires that our article present both sides of such a dispute, rather than having Wikipedia editors themselves settle the historical question. Please also note that the Vietnamese Wikipedia's version of the event apparently reaches the opposite conclusion, although it does report both sides of the argument. Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

. Les arbitrages… je n'y pense plus, sauf quand je tombe sur des souvenirs précis des susdits en sérendipitant sur l'encyclo, mais c'est rare.

J'ai été blessé par certains que je croyais des *bons* et avec qui je ne m'étais jamais pris la tête quand ils s'en sont pris à moi durant ces arbitrages, je ne comprenais pas. Depuis, j'ai appris l'existence d'une secte malfaisante, ça a cicatrisé mes blessures, mais reste la déception (et, toujours, l'incompréhension) de voir que des gens *très bien* peuvent faire passer des copinages (sans doute croisés dans la vraie vie) avant le projet auquel ils ont consacré tant d'énergie
