March 2020 backlog elimination drive leaderboardHey, I saw you edited 2 5k+ word articles! Great work! You may want to edit your stats on the leaderboard. :) --Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝) 21:06, 9 March 2020 (UTC) Thank you Tenryuu 🐲 !! This is my first time participating in a drive so I'm still somewhat unsure about the process. I fixed the word count in my section in the Totals, since I hadn't been able to get the page size script working until now. Quite a bit less but that's ok, now I have the script and can report accurately. About editing my stats in the leaderboard, do you mean not just in the Totals section, but actually adding my name and stats to the "Gold Star Award Leaderboard"? Your guidance and encouragement is very much appreciated! Alan Islas (talk) 04:56, 10 March 2020 (UTC)

Hello! Just a heads up that I deleted earlier copyvio items on the above page, and asked an admin to rev-del the history. I don't think this will affect your recent edits, but here's the heads up.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 16:02, 5 May 2020 (UTC)
Carnival of São PauloThank you for a decency to ask. Nowadays wikipedias enhanced with twinkle and such act like bots without talking and thinking. This partilular event is really notable in Brazil, please take a look at its ptwiki page. Carnival of São Paulo even has a page at the Brazil government site ("paulistano" is the adjective for Sao Paulo). Unfortunately I dont know portuguese and it remains to wait for a samba aficionado to write this article. It was my fault that I did not add any references, adding now. In the future in cases of doubt please always check interwikilink and see if other wikipedias demonstrate notability. Staszek Lem (talk) 17:33, 11 May 2020 (UTC) Thanks for your response Staszek Lem, I should have looked more closely, my bad. It is quite a commitment but might attempt a translation, starting from a machine translation. Not sure if with my knowledge of Spanish and Portuguese dictionaries I could do a good enough job. In any case, I would work on it (slowly) offline or in my sandbox before publishing anything. --Alan Islas (talk) 23:09, 11 May 2020 (UTC) May 2020 GOCE drive bling

Guerillero | Parlez Moi 00:02, 16 July 2020 (UTC) Copyright infringementI can see that you are a new editor, but you need to know that Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously. You must not copy and paste text from sources you find on the web into articles as you did in the article Lake Poway. I have removed the infringing text and rephrased some other sentences, but the material you copied is subject to copyright, as is almost everything on the web, and when creating or expanding articles, you should completely rewrite the information from the source using your own words. It would have been very embarrassing if this copyvio had come to light when the article was featured on the main page as a DYK! Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:39, 30 July 2020 (UTC)

Cwmhiraeth (talk) 12:02, 21 September 2020 (UTC) The Ambassadors...thank you!I really appreciate you digging in on The Ambassadors. I noticed the potential problem back in March because I was thinking about reading it. Checking out the Amazon description and the intro to the WP article, I could see that it was the same language in both places which is what actually led me to become a WP user (so I could ask about that). Coincidentally, I finally did read The Ambassadors and just finished it last week. Your changes to the text of the WP page make the intro better. From my perspective as a new reader of the novel, it's a very strange book. Strether runs over to Paris to figure out what is holding Chad there and to get him back to the U.S. Everyone assumes that what is holding Chad in Paris is a sexual liaison with someone vulgar and inappropriate. When Strether encounters Chad, he experiences Chad as being much more mature and fully-realized as a person than Chad had been back in the states. This makes Strether have positive feelings toward Chad's circle of Parisian friends, because Strether assumes they were instrumental in bringing about these changes in Chad. It doesn't seem to Strether that an inappropriate sexual liaison is part of the mix, and it especially doesn't seem to Strether that Chad is sexually entangled with the elegant, cultured, virtuous and married-but-separated Madame Marie de Vionnet. So Strether declines to attempt to drag Chad back to the U.S. and this endangers Strether's standing with his set of American friends. It also endangers his opportunity to marry Chad's wealthy mother. Strether seems to be willing to give all that up in favor of feeling positive toward the Parisian sensibility, life-lived-deeply-and-well sort of thing. But then...it turns out that Chad and Marie are sexually entangled. FWIW. Novellasyes (talk) 14:32, 25 October 2020 (UTC)

Thank youMany thanks for the article you wrote on Oxonmoot. I may be able to help with a few more sources, though I do need to declare a conflict of interest as I once (a while ago) helped to organise the event. Do you plan to do any more work on this article? Carcharoth (talk) 14:06, 15 November 2020 (UTC)
