User talk:Acdixon/Archive Jul-Dec 2016Steve BeshearI'm sorry to bug you, Acdixon, but I've seen that the article about Steve Beshear is quite outdated. The article only goes until 2011, meaning that the article completely leaves out his second term as Governor of Kentucky and his retirement. Because you promoted this article to Good Article status and because of your extensive knowledge of these subjects (which I really do admire), I have to ask you, would you be willing and able to update this article so it will not be downgraded or anything like that? Either way, thanks! --1990'sguy (talk) 15:05, 1 July 2016 (UTC)
User causing vandalism of spouse issuesCan you please ban this user who is causing vandalism in the Kathryn Beaumont article. His/her name is Aglevine67 and this person created a fake user account and is pretending to be Allan Levine, this user is not him at all. The user has nothing written on his/her user page about himself/herself about being him. He's/she's removed the same edit numerous times on the article and refuses too stop edit warring. 24.61.125.217 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 21:43, 1 July 2016 (UTC)
Creation MuseumThis is getting even crazier than earlier today. You will really be needed for a while for Creation Museum and Ark Encounter. --1990'sguy (talk) 18:45, 15 July 2016 (UTC) User Sandbox questionCan I put stuff of something that is unrealated to Wikipedia as long as it isn't Personal Attacks, violations of VLPs ,Copyrights, Vandalism, and ads? I mean like stuff from other wikis. Gary "Roach" Sanderson (talk) 22:28, 31 July 2016 (UTC)
FAC voluntary mentoring schemeDuring a recent lengthy discussion on the WP:FAC talkpage, several ideas were put forward as to how this procedure could be improved, particularly in making it more user-friendly towards first-time nominees. The promotion rate for first-timers at FAC is depressingly low – around 16 percent – which is a cause for concern. To help remedy this, Mike Christie and I, with the co-operation of the FAC coordinators, have devised a voluntary mentoring scheme, in which newcomers will guided by more experienced editors through the stages of preparation and submission of their articles. The general format of the scheme is explained in more detail on Wikipedia: Mentoring for FAC, which also includes a list of editors who have indicated that they are prepared to act as mentors. Would you be prepared to take on this role occasionally? If so, please add your name to the list. By doing so you incur no obligation; it will be entirely for you to decide how often and on which articles you want to act in this capacity. We anticipate that the scheme will have a trial run for a few months before we appraise its effectiveness. Your participation will be most welcome. DYK for William GantOn 7 September 2016, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article William Gant, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that serving as a juvenile court judge motivated William Gant to create the Daviess County Children's Center to provide housing for children in his hometown of Owensboro, Kentucky? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/William Gant. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, William Gant), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. Many buildings appear in multiple pictures (i.e. there are five pictures of building A, six of building B, etc.), and the whole thing would be significantly more manageable if we had a separate category for each building with several related images. Since you're presumably somewhat familiar with the campus, could you create categories for the multi-pictured buildings and move the relevant images into those new categories? Thanks! That didn't seem to me to be a good approach or something that's working out. Have you or are you considering handling that by spam processes as WP:LINKSPAM ? Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas. In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:
Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you. Edit visibility requestAcdixon, would you please change the visibility of this personal attack? --1990'sguy (talk) 19:06, 8 October 2016 (UTC)

--MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:37, 8 November 2016 (UTC) Two-Factor Authentication now available for adminsHello, Please note that TOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your preferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the developing help page for additional information. Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to the thread on the administrators' noticeboard. A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right. It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best. If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at WT:NPR. (Sent to all admins).MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:46, 15 November 2016 (UTC) ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!Hello, Acdixon.
