New Page Patrol newsletter September 2021  Hello Aafi, Please join this discussion - there is increase in the abuse of Wikipedia and its processes by POV pushers, Paid Editors, and by holders of various user rights including Autopatrolled. Even our review systems themselves at AfC and NPR have been infiltrated. The good news is that detection is improving, but the downside is that it creates the need for a huge clean up - which of course adds to backlogs. Copyright violations are also a serious issue. Most non-regular contributors do not understand why, and most of our Reviewers are not experts on copyright law - and can't be expected to be, but there is excellent, easy-to-follow advice on COPYVIO detection here. At the time of the last newsletter (#25, December 2020) the backlog was only just over 2,000 articles. New Page Review is an official system. It's the only firewall against the inclusion of new, improper pages. There are currently 706 New Page Reviewers plus a further 1,080 admins, but as much as nearly 90% of the patrolling is still being done by around only the 20 or so most regular patrollers. If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process or its software.  Various awards are due to be allocated by the end of the year and barnstars are overdue. If you would like to manage this, please let us know. But it seems you did the google search without quotes. If we do the google search with quotes we see 4,110 results for "Abdul Hakeem Azhari" and 40,000 results for "Abdul Hakkim Azhari". Moving of Hazara Pakistan to Hazara DivisionHi i see you moved Hazara Pakistan article to Hazara Division on the request of "user:Khestwol". without any past or present check, i want to tell you actually Hazara Division was merged into this historical region article because of not having enough content, Now renaming this Hazara Pakistan historical region article into an administrative Hazara Division is not fair, i request you please read the article, Hazara Pakistan is a historical region wich has a history since Alexander era, and this region contains sperate Amb (princely state) from 1500 to until 1970 and this region was merged in to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, From 1987 to present-day this region has a separate Hazara Province Movement. i request you please restore article back to original name Hazara Pakistan, to end confusion, split "Hazara division" section wich was merged into this article after discussion because of not having enough content. Hello @TheAafi, I added the name in the article as taking the example of the article of Ibn Taymiyyah. Name is different but commonly known as different. I didn't change the title and this title should not be change also. I got to know this name, Abū Aḥmad Muḥammad ʻAbdillāh Al-A’zami when I read the cover of Al-Jamiul Kamil but thought that it is name of another person. So, I want to add the name again as other name in infobox or in the starting of article as it is in Ibn Taymiyyah. So, people know his official name and never confuse like me. Beware of IPsOver the years I've been on wikipedia, I've found that you should beware of IPs and WP:SPAs that try to pick fights. They are probably sockpuppets of more veteran accounts. They try to provoke you into bad behavior. Best thing to do is just to remain calm. Hopefully, eventually, more users will comment on the issue and the IP will be shown to be wrong. I had a look at the ANI thread. While the IP seems to be wanting to right great wrongs, there looks to be a kernel of truth in what they're saying. I notice at User:TheAafi/COI, you say you've been paid to write Malojiraje Chhatrapati and Bapusaheb Pathare. While neither article looks egregiously bad, and seems to basically have well-sourced claims to meet WP:NPOLITICIAN (bearing in mind I'm not too familiar with Indian politics, particularly BJP politics), they both look like the sort of stub I'd knock up in an hour or two just for fun. I don't understand why you needed to be paid for these, or how it aligns with the claim also on the page "No paid connections. Never." Can you clarify what this all means? When enter Draft:Move/Medinet Habu[1] it shows an error message saying "Draft:Move/Medinet Habu doesn't exist. Should one enter prefix Draft:Move[2]? or one should leave it without adding prefix[3]. Mark.All (talk) 10:24, 15 March 2022 (UTC) Hello, TheAafi, When making a page move, please check for redirects to the page before deciding whether or not to leave a redirect from the old location to the new title. When you chose not to leave a redirect, as in this page move, it left quite a lot of broken redirects that would have been deleted by AnomieBOT III if Explicit hadn't fixed them all. If you leave a redirect when you do a page move, then the bots can change all of the existing redirects to point to the new, correct target. When you don't leave a redirect, they become broken and can all get deleted if no one is actively checking the Broken redirect page. This is especially important if a page has been moved by a vandal to a really bad title, you probably think you shouldn't leave a redirect when correcting for this because the incorrect title is so obviously wrong but, again, not leaving one breaks all of the existing redirects. Alternatively, before you do a page move, you can go and change all of the page redirects yourself but it is much easier to leave a redirect and then the bots can make the changes for you. Of course, if the page doesn't have any redirects that point to it, this doesn't matter but many pages do. And thank you for all of your contributions! Liz Read! Talk! 19:47, 16 March 2022 (UTC)
