Countdown Clocks

It is actually both. I have a whole list of raw videos and broadcasts of the New Years’ with the video countdowns shown, starting with the 1996-1997 one. I wanted to know if it is ok to put these links in the references or external links on the Times Square Ball page, along with the descriptions in their own “countdown clocks” heading, since I am providing proof with those videos. That is just trivia. Broadcasts are primary sources (plus, in the majority of cases, YouTube uploads are copyright violations). Unlike other elements that change yearly or not at all, there actually are reliable secondary sources discussing major guests of honour (performers and honourary starters) because they are something that the general public is actually interested in, and are thus reported on by news media. This, however, is the kind of detail that should not be in a Wikipedia article, as it is only of interest to certain audiences. ViperSnake151  Talk  03:56, 1 July 2018 (UTC)

Hi!

You just left me a note on my page, advising me to preview my edits before entering them. That's a very fair point. I have to try to keep an eye out for that in the future.

I am not a digital native. None of this comes easy to me. Assuming you are younger than me, and you are probably a lot younger than me, you grew up surrounded by technology. I am a former social studies teacher and current math teacher who wants the record to be kept straight, but I have a lousy time figuring out how to do so. In fact, I suspect I am leaving this comment in the wrong place. But hey, I tried.

In truth, some of my follow-up edits are corrections of my own work, but others represent thoughts that occurred to me after the fact. Nonetheless, I can try harder to get all that stuff right the first time.

• Oh, you’re welcome. I didn’t do all that myself, it comes from an applicable notice template about previewing your edits, part of a whole bunch of templates meant for the user talk namespace from WikiProject User Warnings. I wouldn’t call this a warning though, this is just a single level notice. Other templates from Project User Warnings are used to notify users of their wrongdoing, such as the multi-level templates on there. Anyways, you didn’t do anything wrong, and to be fair, I’ve made like 7 or 8 edits in a row without previewing or noticing my mistakes before I hit submit. I didn’t know you would be this nice to me about me just putting a template on your talk page! Thanks for such a quick response, and it’s always a pleasure to talk to someone here on Wikipedia!
