One good rule around here is that "it's easier to get forgiveness than permission", so I recommend adding to the article without running it by people on a talk page. Sometimes, I'll see something on Google Books that's written in another language, and all that I recognize is a number like "1848". It's a hassle, but I'm glad Google translate is out there to type in a sentence in Romanian or Hungarian or something else so that I know what the author was talking about, especially if I'm trying to find a precise month day and year.
