Uga Carlini
Uga Carlini is a South African and Italian film director, writer, actor and producer.[1][2] She is best known for her work on Alison (documentary film), 17 Shots (music video) and Angeliena (feature film). [3][4] Life and careerCarlini was born in Pretoria, Gauteng and graduated from Stellenbosch University.[5] Her mother is South African and her father is of Italian descent.[citation needed] She is the co-founder of the production company, Towerkop Creations in 2010, which supports female driven stories.[6] Her debut documentary short film, Good Planets Are Hard to Find, was about Elizabeth Klarer.[7] In 2016, she directed the feature documentary, Alison, based on the Marianne Thamm book, I Have Life. It premiered at the Dances with Films Festival.[8] She has also directed the music videos 17 shots, Die Deur, Wildste Oomblik and Beauty of Africa for the Sony Music Africa.[9][10] Carlini's debut feature film, Angeliena, about a formerly homeless parking attendant, was released worldwide Netflix on October 8, 2021.[11][12] Personal lifeCarlini has two sons, Roka and Neo, both made their acting debuts together on the feature film, Angeliena.[13] Filmography
