Rory Calhoun plays gunman Bill Longley, "The Texan," who travels across Texas from town to town in the wake of the Civil War. His reputation as a gunfighter precedes him and often brings trouble wherever he ends up next.
Featuring Peter Palmer, Ben Wright and Harry Shannon. Rory Calhoun does not appear in this episode; this was a pilot episode for a series starring Palmer, but was not picked up.
Operating on a budget of $40,000 per episode, two episodes per week were filmed on stage 11 at Desilu.[6][7] Location shooting was completed at Pearl Flats.[6][7]

The original broadcast of The Texan aired 8:00–8:30 Monday evenings from September 1958 to September 1960 on CBS. ABC aired reruns of the program during its weekday lineup from October 1960 to March 1962, and then as part of its Saturday morning lineup from February to May 1962.[1]
