Basement membrane zone
This zone is composed of four components, the fourth being the anchoring fibrils & collagen; however, this is not specifically a layer; therefore, I am not including it in this template. Kilbad (talk) 22:54, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I was just wondering why "Skin Layers and Appendages" is a better name for this template than the previous "Integumentary system?" Personally, I prefer "Integumentary system." Usually, shorter names are better, and integumentary system encompasses skin layers and appendages. If this template stays with its current title, it should be renamed to "Skin layers and appendages" - the proper sentence-case formatting. --Scott Alter04:55, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I changed it because I wanted the scope of the template to be clear. The term "Integumentary system" seems way to broad to me. Kilbad (talk) 15:03, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Just so you know, most of the comments and changes I make are based on prior convention - in order to maintain consistency between different sections of the project. So with that in mind, if you look at the templates in Category:Anatomy templates, most templates contain a list of structures/parts contained in the topic of the template's title. There are also templates for each of the organ systems, which contain the anatomical structures within the organ system. For example, see: {{Auditory and vestibular systems}}, {{Cardiovascular system}}, {{Endocrine system}}, {{Female reproductive system}}, {{Gustatory system}}, etc. These are all in the format where the template title is the name of the system, the first column contains the organs of the system, and the subsequent columns contain the parts of the respective organs. This format exactly matches this template, which is why I think it should be called "Integumentary system". --Scott Alter21:26, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. I'll go ahead and rename it. Please don't take any of my suggestions and changes as trying to undermine or criticize your work. What you are doing is greatly appreciated and welcomed. I am just trying to keep everything organized and consistent within the medicine-related articles. --Scott Alter21:58, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
