Solapur Municipal Corporation is the governing body of the city of Solapur in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The municipal corporation consists of democratically elected members, is headed by a mayor and administers the city's infrastructure, public services and police. Members from the state's leading various political parties hold elected offices in the corporation. Solapur municipal council is one of the oldest in India, founded in the 1860s and was given municipal corporation status in 1963. Solapur municipal corporation is located in Solapur City.

Under the Solapur Municipal Corporation, various departments are involved in providing various services to Citizen in the city of Solapur, including City Planning and Urban Planning. Planning for economic and social development. Water supply for domestic, industrial and commercial purposes. Providing services like public health, sanitation , solid waste management , Housing, Education and Transportation

  • Urban planning including Town Planning and Infrastructure Development.
  • Regulation of Land use and construction of buildings and other properties.
  • Planning for economic development and social justice.
  • Power to levy, collect taxes as per process.
  • Water supply for domestic, industrial and commercial purposes.
  • Public health, sanitation and solid waste management.
  • Facilitating firefighting services and emergency relief operations.
  • Promotion of urban forestry, environmental protection and ecological aspects.
  • Protecting the interests of the disabled and weaker sections of the society
  • Slum improvement.
  • Repairing street lights.
  • Alleviation of urban poverty.
  • Provision of civic facilities and amenities like parks, gardens, playgrounds.
  • Promotion of cultural, educational and aesthetic aspects.
  • Cemeteries, Crematoriums, Crematoriums and Electric Crematories.

Election[6]

Solapur is one of the most important municipalities in western Maharashtra. Solapur Metropolitan Municipal ward number one had four wards in 2017. However, in 2022, according to the new structure, the division number is now divided into three wards. So a ward has been reduced.

The following are the total population in the municipal elections in 2017, and the caste classification of the total population was as follows.

  • Total population 24677
  • Scheduled Castes 9010
  • Scheduled Tribes 398

As per the new structure, a look at which ward has been reserved for anyone in ward no.

Solapur Municipal Corporation had a total of 26 divisions in 2017. So now the number of divisions has increased to 37. Each division had about four wards in 2017. In 2022, each division has a total of three wards. However, the exception is Division No. 38.

According to the new structure, the total number of ward is 113, of which 57 wards are reserved for women. While 16 wards have been reserved for Scheduled Castes, half of which are reserved for women of Scheduled Castes. Two wards were reserved for the Scheduled Tribes. One of the wards has been reserved for a scheduled caste woman.
