History

Ray Township is named for James B. Ray, fourth Governor of Indiana.^[6]

The Oldenburg Historic District and Stockheughter Covered Bridge are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.^[7]

According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of 39.69 square miles (102.8 km²), of which 39.61 square miles (102.6 km²) (or 99.80%) is land and 0.08 square miles (0.21 km²) (or 0.20%) is water.^[4]
