Protests against the second presidency of Donald Trump

Several protests have been held against President Donald Trump since his 2024 reelection.

Protests in the United States

Protesters gathered in San Jose and Berkeley, California to protest both parties.[1][2] An anti-Trump rally was held in downtown Cleveland, Ohio the night after the election for about an hour before protestors dispersed. Other protests were held that night in Chicago, Illinois, New York City, New York, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with protestors outside the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago filmed chanting "Donald Trump, you fascist clown."[3][4]

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) issued a statement the day after Trump's election indicating that they would continue to fight against Trump's rhetoric and unlawful plans such as the mass deportation plans outlined in Project 2025.[5]

The People's March was held in cities across the nation in January 2025.

The Day Without Immigrants was held in cities across the nation in February 2025. Thousands of people protested the mass deportation of illegal immigrants in the second presidency of Donald Trump in Southern California and Dallas including in Los Angeles where protesters blocked all lanes of U.S. Route 101 causing "major gridlock".[6][7]

A series of protests against Trump, Elon Musk, and Project 2025 were held on February 5, 2025. Referred to as 50501, short for "50 protests, 50 states, one day", the protests were largely held outside state capitol buildings, though some were held in other cities.[8]

Protests in other countries

Shortly after being declared winner, protests would begin against him. The first protest to occur was Just Stop Oil protesters spraying orange paint on the American Embassy in London.[9]

The Human Rights Watch issued a statement indicating that they were concerned about Trump's second term shortly after he was elected based on his prior rights-abusing record from his first term, and that "Independent institutions and civil society groups, including Human Rights Watch, will need to do all we can to hold him and his administration accountable for abuses."[10]

On December 24, 2024, a protest was held at the U.S. Embassy in Panama City over Trump's threat to take back the Panama Canal. Protesters also referred to him as a "public enemy" of Panama.[11][12]

On the day of Trump's inauguration, protests were held in London, Brussels, Mexico City, Tijuana, Panama City, and Manila.[13][14][15]
