My Nemesis (novel)
My Nemesis is a 2023 novel by American writer Charmaine Craig .[1] PlotPublisher Grove Atlantic describes the book as “an immersive and searing story of two women, their marriages, and the rivalry between them,” as well as a “story of seduction, envy, and the ways we publicly define and privately deceive ourselves today.”[2] Writing and compositionCraig did not create an outline to write the book, but while writing did aim to produce a work of approximately 50,000 words.[3] After selling the book, Craig removed some 3000 words from the work.[3] ReceptionMy Nemesis received generally positive reception upon release.[1] Writing in the Boston Globe, critic Carolyn Kellogg called it “a breakthrough tour de force,” adding, “Many have tried to give us an unreliable narrator; few have succeeded as well as Craig does.”[4] Kirkus and Publishers Weekly both published reviews characterized by literary review aggregator Book Marks as "Positive".[1][5][6] In a review published by the Star Tribune, Marion Winik praised the novel as a "spiky little feminist page-turner".[7] The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal both criticized the narrative.[8][9] References
