1994–2002 Barking and Dagenham council electionsThe boundaries of the ward were adjusted on 1 April 1994.[1] Marks Gate ward formed a salient of Barking and Dagenham surrounded by the boroughs of Havering and Redbridge. The adjustment transferred sufficient population from those boroughs to require an increase from one to two councillors representing the Marks Gate ward. The Padnall estate was united entirely within the ward. 2001 by-electionThe by-election was held on 27 September 2001, following the resignation of Colin Pond.
