Ken Stanford (born 9 December 1937) is an Irish sports shooter. Formerly a member of the Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC), he represented Britain and Northern Ireland at a number of pistol shooting events, including the Commonwealth Games, before "controversially" representing Ireland at the 1980 Summer Olympics.[1][2] Stanford, who "applied for three weeks special leave" from his role as a Chief Inspector with the RUC to participate,[3] represented Ireland in two shooting events at the 1980 Olympics in Moscow.[4]
