Jurské
Jurské (Hungarian: Szepesszentgyörgy, German: Sankt Georgen, Rusyn: Юрске) is a village and municipality in Kežmarok District in the Prešov Region of north Slovakia.[5] HistoryIn historical records the village was first mentioned in 1294. Before the establishment of independent Czechoslovakia in 1918, Jurské was part of Szepes County within the Kingdom of Hungary. From 1939 to 1945, it was part of the Slovak Republic. On 26 January 1945, the Red Army dislodged the Wehrmacht from Jurské in the course of the Western Carpathian offensive and it was once again part of Czechoslovakia. GeographyThe municipality lies at an altitude of 647 metres and covers an area of 3.826 km². It has a population of about 1000 inhabitants. DemographicsAccording to 2021 census, Jurské has a total population of 1372. The vast majority of this population consists of the local Roma community. In 2019, they constituted an estimated 98% of the local population.[6] In the village is kindergarten. elementary school, football pitch and a foodstuff store.
