Joirdon Nicholas
Joirdon Karl Nicholas (born March 29, 1999)[2] is an American professional basketball player for the Cleveland Charge of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the Montana Grizzlies, Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks and the Texas Southern Tigers. High school careerNicholas attended Glenda Dawson High School in his native Pearland, Texas, helping the Eagles to a 27–8 mark in his senior season, which included a 11–1 record in league play while being named the 2016–17 Texas District 22–6A MVP and being rated as the 17th-best prospect in the state.[3][4] College careerNicholas began his college career with Montana where he played 30 games,[5] while averaging 3.5 points and 2.3 rebounds in 9.6 minutes per game, helping the team win a Big Sky Conference championship.[4] Afterwards, he transferred to Stephen F. Austin where he played 12 games and averaged 7.6 points and 4.3 rebounds.[4] Afterwards, Nicholas transferred to Texas Southern, helping the Tigers win several SWAC championships. As a senior, he averaged 10.7 points and 8.9 rebounds per game, while leading the team to another SWAC championship.[5] Professional careerSouth Bay Lakers (2023–2024)After going undrafted in the 2023 NBA draft, Nicholas joined the South Bay Lakers on October 28, 2023, after a successful tryout.[6] In 39 games, he averaged 8.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 19.0 minutes.[7] Tijuana Zonkeys (2024)In May 2024, Nicholas signed with the Tijuana Zonkeys of the Circuito de Baloncesto de la Costa del Pacífico. In 19 games, he averaged 10.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 19.7 minutes, helping the team reach the semifinal.[7] College Park Skyhawks (2024)After joining the Los Angeles Lakers for the 2024 NBA Summer League,[8] Nicholas signed with the Atlanta Hawks on September 26, 2024,[5][9] but was waived the next day.[10] On October 26, he joined the College Park Skyhawks[11] and on six games, he averaged 4.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 0.5 assists in 12.2 minutes.[7] Cleveland Charge (2024–present)On December 5, 2024, Nicholas was traded to the Cleveland Charge.[12] Personal lifeThe son of Juny Simpson, Nicholas has two sisters.
