Cooper was born in El Paso, Texas where he attended high school at Andress. In Cooper's high school career, he played as both a receiver and as a safety. As a receiver he hauled in 78 receptions for 1,493 yards and 17 touchdowns, while also rushing for 782 yards and two touchdowns. As a safety he notched 143 tackles with seven being for a loss, a sack, 13 pass deflections, 19 interceptions, three fumble recoveries, and three forced fumbles.[2] Cooper would decide to commit to play college football at the University of Iowa State.[3][4]
College career
In Cooper's freshman season in 2022, he totaled 32 tackles with half a tack being for a loss, and a pass deflection.[5][6] In week one of the 2023 season, Cooper intercepted two passes, including taking one to the house for a touchdown, as he helped the Cylcones beat Northern Iowa.[7] For his performance, Cooper was named the Big-12 defensive player of the week.[8][9] In the following week, Cooper would record an interception against rival Iowa.[10] In week seven, Cooper would tack on interception versus Cincinnati to increase his NCAA interception lead to five on year.[11]
Personal life
Cooper is the brother of former Arizona safety Tristan Cooper, and the brother of current Oral Roberts women's basketball player Hannah Cooper.[12]
