Irfan Kamal (born January 1, 1970)[1] is an Indian actor, director, screenwriter, and lyricist.[2] He made his acting debut in the 1993 film Chahoonga Main Tujhe and later transitioned into writing and directing films. He is known for directing and writing Thanks Maa (2009),[3] a critically acclaimed film that highlighted the issue of child abandonment and was screened at major international film festivals, including the Edinburgh International Film Festival and Cannes Film Festival.[4] He also worked on the screenplay for Krrish 3 (2013)[5][6] and directed Satellite Shankar (2019)[7]. As a lyricist,[8] he has written songs for several Bollywood films such as Dabangg 2 and Singh Is Bliing (2015).[9][10][11]
Career
Irfan Kamal began his career as an actor in the early 1990s with roles in films like Chahoonga Main Tujhe (1993) and Angaaray (1998). He later transitioned into writing and directing, where he achieved critical acclaim for his storytelling and screenplays. His directorial debut, Thanks Maa (2009). He continued to make his mark in Bollywood with his work on Krrish 3 (2013) as a screenwriter and Satellite Shankar (2019) as a director.[12]
In addition to filmmaking, Kamal is a lyricist, contributing to the soundtracks of hit films like Dabangg 2 (2012), Dolly Ki Doli (2015), and Singh Is Bliing (2015).
