Helvíkovice (German: Helkowitz) is a municipality and village in Ústí nad Orlicí District in the Pardubice Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 500 inhabitants. Administrative partsThe hamlet of Houkov is an administrative part of Helvíkovice.[2] EtymologyThe name is derived from the personal name Helvík, meaning "the village of Helvík's people".[3] GeographyHelvíkovice is located about 13 kilometres (8 mi) north of Ústí nad Orlicí and 46 km (29 mi) east of Pardubice. It lies in the Orlické Foothills. The highest point is the near the top of the hill Hůrka at 515 m (1,690 ft) above sea level. The Divoká Orlice river flows through the municipality. HistoryThe first written mention of Helvíkovice is from 1365.[3] The village was founded in the second half of the 14th century.[4] Demographics
