Hannah Bat Shahar
Hannah Bat Shahar (born 1944) is an Israeli writer.[citation needed] Bat Shahar was born in Jerusalem, 1944. She is a Hebrew Language mentor at Yeshiva University.[1] She received the 1994 Prime Minister's Prize.[citation needed] BiographyBat Shahar, was born in 1944 in Jerusalem, daughter of Rabbi Bezalel Jolti. Married to Rabbi Yehoshua Eichenstein, head of the Yad Aharon yeshiva.[2] He graduated from the Beit Ya'akov institutions, whose curriculum does not include modern Hebrew literature. In the 1980s, he enrolled in a writing workshop led by Yoram Kaniuk and Aharon Applefeld. He later began writing under a pseudonym, because he feared that his identification would lead to ostracism in ultra-Orthodox society and harm his children's marriages. In 1985, his first book, "The Tales of the Cup", including six short stories, was published and won the Newman Prize for Debut Books.[3] His next two books, "Calling the Bats" (1990) and "The Butterfly Dance" (1993) were published in the "Ko Hatafir" series edited by Yigal Schwartz at Keter Publishing.[4] Published works
