Clive Scott (musician)
Clive Scott (24 February 1945 – 10 May 2009[1]) was a British singer–songwriter. He was an original member of Jigsaw, and co–wrote their biggest selling UK single, "Sky High". BiographyBorn in Coventry,[2] he was in Scott and the Antarctics before forming Jigsaw with Des Dyer in 1966.[1] Scott and Dyer were the creative force behind the band, and wrote "Sky High", their biggest selling single in the United States. They topped Japanese charts twice and charted more in the U.S. compared to the UK, and later on performed the music to the soundtrack of the 1979 film Home Before Midnight.[1][3] Scott wrote "Who Do You Think You Are", a 1973 hit for Candlewick Green that peaked at #21 in the UK.[4][5] Clive arranged Apollo 100's electrified version of Johann Sebastian Bach's piece "Joy" in 1971.[6][7] After Jigsaw disbanded, he worked on his own as a songwriter, and worked with Ian Levine, Nicki French, Bad Boys Inc and Boyzone.[8][9] On 27 April 2009, Clive was in his garden, on his ladder parked on the outside of his home in Ascot, Berkshire when he fell off the ladder and hit the floor. Scott was first taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, and then transferred to Southampton Hospital for brain surgery.[10] He was finally taken to Frimley Park Hospital in Camberley, where he died, two weeks after the accident on 10 May 2009 after suffering a severe stroke,[11] aged 64. He was survived by his wife Ann and one son, Samuel.[1][8] His funeral was held in Ascot, and stars such as Rowetta Satchell, Jimmy James, and Pearly Gates.[8] A coroner later ruled his death as accidental.[10] References
