Carmichaelia stevensonii, the cord broom or weeping broom,[1] is a species of shrubbyplant in the Sweet pea subfamily (Papilionoidea) of the Bean family Fabaceae. It is found only in the north east of the South Island of New Zealand.[3] It is threatened by habitat loss.[1] It is a leafless shrub up to twelve feet (3.5 meters) in height. Unlike Spanish Broom the branches are of a weeping habit.[5]
The IUCN redlist listed it as "Vulnerable" in 1998 due to habitat loss.[1] Assessments under the New Zealand Threat Classification System (NZTCS), declared it to be "At Risk – Declining" (Dec) in 2018.[2]
