During Rose's first two collegiate seasons in 2022 and 2023, he would redshirt in 2022, and would not appear in any games in either of the seasons.[3][4] In week nine of the 2024 season, Rose entered the game in the third quarter looking to lead the Utes to victory, where he completed seven of his fifteen passing attempts for 45 yards, and an interception on the final drive of the game, where the Utes lost 17-14 to the Houston Cougars.[5] Heading into the Utes week ten matchup versus the BYU Cougars, Rose was announced as the team's starting quarterback.[6] In Rose's first start, he completed 12 of his 21 pass attempts for 112 yards and two touchdowns, while also adding 55 yards on the ground as he almost led the Utes to an upset win over the #9 BYU Cougars.[7] Following the matchup versus the Cougars, Rose was ruled out for the remainder of the season, after suffering a season ending leg injury.[8][9] Rose finished the 2024 season, appearing in three games, where he completed 19 of his 36 pass attempts for 157 yards and two touchdowns, with two interceptions, while also adding 66 yards on the ground.[10][11]
On December 7, 2024, Rose entered the transfer portal.[12]

On January 9, 2025, Rose announced that he would transfer to UMass.[13]
