Bari (caste)Bari are one of Hindu Caste of India. They are mostly spread across Northern India. [1] They belongs to chhatriya clans and placed with all clean castes ,they belongs to vari as water lords and devottee of Lord Vishnu as their deity.Their traditional occupation was making leaf plate for temples not for everyone .[2] They are described by Russel & Hiralal as household servants for kingdom and makers of leaf plates for temples , from whom Brahmins accept water.[2] They practice Hindu rituals and worship Surya.[2] In hierarchy of Hindu caste system, they are counted as clean caste but not high status.[3] Bari are listed as other backward caste in Orissa and spread in districts of Sundergarh, Khurda, Balasore. Those residing in Orissa mostly speak Bhojpuri language .[4] They are listed as other backward Caste in Madhya Pradesh,[5] Rajasthan.[6] Maharashtra,[7][8] Uttar Pradesh,[9] Bihar,[10] Jharkhand,[11] Chhattisgarh also.
