Etymology
The name Aeropyrum derives from:Greek noun aer, aeros (ἀήρ, ἀέρος) , air; Greek neuter gender noun pur , fire; Neo-Latin neuter gender noun Aeropyrum , air fire, referring to the hyperthermophilic respirative character of the organism.[ 2]
