The 28th Málaga Film Festival will run in Málaga, Spain from 14 to 23 March 2025.

Background

In October 2023, festival director Juan Antonio Vigar stated that the organization was seeking to thin the non-competitive slate of the festival's official selection compared to the 26th Málaga Film Festival's.[1] The official poster for the 28th edition (a work by Javier Díaz Garrido) was presented on 22 November 2024.[2][3] In December 2024, Mercedes Morán was announced as the president of the main competition jury.[4] On 30 January 2025, the festival announced an initial slate of 5 female-directed films for the main competition section.[5]
