1st Mobile Contingent
The 1st Mobile Contingent (Chinese: 第一机动总队) is one of two People's Armed Police mobile contingents, the other being the 2nd Mobile Contingent. It's headquarters are in Nangang Town, Zhengding county, Shijiazhuang, Hebei.[1][2] HistoryThe New Fourth Army's Third Division, Independent Brigade was founded in 1945. In 1946 it was re-named as the Northeast Democratic United Force's Third Division, Independent Brigade and then to the 2nd Column, 6th Division. In 1948 it was renamed to the 117th Division (Chinese: 一一七师). In the 1940s, it participated in the Second Sino-Japanese War and the Chinese civil war.[3] During the Korean War, the 117th Division was a military formation of the People's Volunteer Army (Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) or Chinese Communist Forces (CCF)) with a standard strength of approximately 10,000 men. It was a component of the 39th Army, consisting of the 349th, 350th, and 351st Regiments.[4][5] The division participated in the Battle of Unsan during the Korean War in the 1950s.[4][5] In 1996 the division was handed over to the People's Armed Police and renamed as the 117th Armed Police Division with the Military unit cover designator Unit 8610. It was stationed in Panjin and consisted of the 349th Armed Police Regiment stationed in Panjin, the 350th Armed Police Regiment, stationed in Beizhen, Jinzhou, the 351st Armed Police Regiment, stationed in Panjin along with the 700th Armed Police Regiment stationed in Panjin.[3] In 2009, the division was tasked with security during the 60th anniversary of the People's Republic of China parade.[6] In 2017, the division was merged with the 63rd Armed Police Division, 81st Armed Police Division, 120th Armed Police Division and the 187th Armed Police Division became the 1st Mobile Contingent.[7] Units
MissionThe 1st Mobile Contingent acts as an rapid reaction force for major incidents(e.g. Natural disasters, riots or terrorist threats) in North China, Central China, Northwest China and Northeast China.[1][2] References
