Recent changes
On Wikidata, the "speichern" button when you edit is now called "veröffentlichen". This means all Wikimedia wikis have now changed from "Seite speichern" to "Änderungen veröffentlichen". This is to help new editors understand what it does. [1][2]
Some edits will get an automatic tag on all wikis. This will happen when making a page a redirect, blanking a page, removing almost all content, undoing an edit, or rolling back an edit. You can see the tags for example in the recent changes feed, article history, user contributions or on your watchlist. Some wikis had already marked edits like these in other ways. [3]
Special:UnusedFiles shows files that have been uploaded but are not used. It will show a file that is not used on the wiki it has been uploaded to, even if the file is used on another wiki. The new Special:GloballyUnusedFiles page on Commons only shows files that are not used on any wiki. [4]
Structured discussions now uses the 2017 wikitext editor instead of its old custom one. This will work with your preference for wikitext or visual editor. The documentation has been updated. [5][6]
Problems
Older versions of the Chrome web browser on mobile devices may see the PDF download button, but it does not work. The developers are looking into the problem. [7]
With the new filters in the recent changes, "Ausgewählte ausschließen" in "Namensräume" did not work for "Gespeicherte Filter" between 13 December and 2 January. When you loaded the saved filter all other namespaces were excluded instead. This has now been fixed. If you made any changes to your saved filters between 13 December and 2 January, you need to save your filters with excluded namespaces again. [8]
The latest version of Google Chrome broke how section links are shown in the address bar. You now see #R%C3%A9sum%C3%A9 instead of #Résumé even if MediaWiki did not encode it that way. This happened in early December. This problem has been solved. The fix will be in Chrome 64 (23 January) or Chrome 65 (6 March). [9]
Some POST requests to the API took longer than usual in parts of December. This affected the Wikidata UI and some gadgets the most. It has now been fixed. [10]
Changes later this week
Wikidata will be moved to its own database servers. This is because it is growing and needs more resources. Because of this you will be able to read but not edit Wikidata and the German Wikipedia between 06:00 and 06:30 UTC on 9 January. You might lose edits if you try to save during this time. This includes editing the language links on other wikis. [11]
The font size in the editing window will change slightly for some users. It will now look the same on all browsers and operating systems. [12][13]
The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 9 January. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 10 January. It will be on all wikis from 11 January (calendar).
WikiEditor's ResourceLoader modules have been simplified to one: ext.wikiEditor. All the other modules are now deprecated aliases and should be removed. [14]

Recent changes
Bureaucrats on Wikimedia wikis where the Translate extension is installed can now add and remove the translation administrator permission by default. Administrators of wikis where this extension is enabled can add and remove this permission to or from themselves. Wikis that used a different configuration before have not changed. [15]
There is a new Discourse test support channel for Wikimedia developers. You can ask questions or answer others questions about MediaWiki and Wikimedia software development. [16]
Problems
Last week's MediaWiki update was rolled back. This was because of a bug that changed non-ASCII characters when a page was edited. [17][18]

Future changes
A few hundred wikis with less than ten high-priority errors in Linter categories will switch to use the Remex parsing library. This is to replace Tidy. It will happen on 31 January. Other wikis will be recommended to switch soon when they have fixed the errors that must be fixed. Tidy will be removed in the middle of 2018. [19][20]

Recent changes
Filters on Special:RecentChangesLinked will get the new look similar to on the recent changes page. Special:RecentChangesLinked will also get some new features. [21][22]
Problems
With the new OOUI look menus and popups can open upwards instead of downwards. This was meant to make long dropdown menus easier to use. Sometimes these menus have been overlapped by other things. This is now fixed. [23]

Constraint violations can now be checked on qualifiers and references (phab:T168532)
Implemented usage tracking deduplication to reduce database load (phab:T178079). This should not have any effect on what users see on recent changes and watchlists.

da die Fragestellung nun in kürzeren Abständen bereits wiederholt aufgeworfen wurde ist nunmehr angedacht eine Abstimmung zur weiteren Teilhabe von PR-Konten et al im Mentorenprogramm durchzuführen.
Eine Teilhabe an der jüngst aufgefrischten Diskussion und im Fall des Falles natürlich auch an einer möglichen, noch nicht terminierten Abstimmung ist nicht nur erbeten sondern ausdrücklich wünschenswert.

We are saddened to report that Polish Wikimedian Krzysztof Machocki (who was also active on Wikidata) died on 31 January 2018, aged 36, after a couple of weeks of illness. Our condolences to his family and friends.
The call for submissions for Wikimania (Cape Town, July 2018) is now open. Deadline is March 18th. Ideas of submissions related to Wikidata can be discussed here
Based on community discussions, the ArticlePlaceholder will soon be deployed on Urdu and Estonian Wikipedias.
Statistics
January 2018 brought us 9,770,248 edits, 445,027 new items were created.
The number of users that edited Wikidata per day grew in 2017 from 2439 to 2672 users, 9,6% more compared to 2016. The number of edits by them grew with 18% to 190k edits per day. We also get edited by 542 IP adresses per day, 50% more than in 2016.
In 2017, Wikidata got edited by 46 various bots per day, executing 334k edits per day (63% more than in 2016). The most active bot in 2017 was Emijrpbot, who added 18 million edits to Wikidata.

Recent changes
Bureaucrats can now add and remove the accountcreator permission by default. This means the user can help create a large number of accounts, for example for an editathon. Wikis can change this if they want to. [26]
The Wikidata vandalism dashboard is a new tool to monitor vandalism on Wikidata labels and descriptions. It is filtered by language. [27]
Info pages for file pages now show the file's SHA1 hash value in the table of basic information. This is so users can see that the file is the same as the one they uploaded. [28]
Problems
Special:Export has a higher error rate right now. This means that the export does not always work. You should check to make sure your page exports worked. The developers are working on fixing this. [29]
Changes later this week
When you review an edit made with the visual editor you can check a visual diff of your changes besides the wikitext diff. If you pick one diff type it will remember and show you that in future. The visual diff will now be the type first shown to new users. [30]
When you use a gallery to show images you can define the size, like gallery widths="150px". You could use em or % instead of px but it would make no difference. You can now only use 150px or nothing (150). If you write something else, instead of treating it like px, it will not work. [31]
The wording when you send a thanks message will change. Instead of Ja or Nein it will say Thank and Cancel. It will also be easier to understand that all thanks are public. [32]
Redirects connected to Wikidata can create double Wikidata items. There will now be a tracking category for this. Wikis that don't want it can disable it. [33]

Für den Wunsch „Bessere Lösung von Bearbeitungskonflikten“ findet wieder eine Feedbackrunde statt. Dieses Mal geht es darum, einen alternativen Ansatz zu testen, der sich deutlich von dem vorherigen unterscheidet.
Zum Ausprobieren wird wieder eine sichere Testumgebung bereitgestellt, mit der man Bearbeitungskonflikte unter echten Bedingungen und mit echten Wikiseiten gefahrlos simulieren kann. Es sind keine besonderen Vorkenntnisse nötig.
Es wäre toll, wenn du dir etwas Zeit dafür nehmen würdest. Die Einschätzung eines jeden Einzelnen hilft dem Entwicklerteam, eine gute Lösung für die zukünftige Bearbeitungskonfliktseite zu finden. Darum gerne mitmachen und weitersagen!

du hattest Interesse signalisiert, an dem Workshop zu Wikimedia und Katastrophenmanagement teilzunehmen, als der noch für Februar geplant war. Nun ist er für den 20. Recent changes
TemplateStyles has been deployed to the Swedish Wikipedia. TemplateStyles is a feature to make it easy to add CSS to templates without administrator privileges. This allows for better adaptability to screen sizes, especially on mobile where are half our total page views. If your community would like to be the next to have the feature, please submit a task on Phabricator. [36][37][38]
You can opt in to a new beta feature that lets you use visual diffs on history pages. [39]
The visual editor shows and lets you edit templates in one way, and reference lists in another. This meant that templates that only contain a fake reference list, like {{reflist}}, would not get updated as you edited. Now they will update as you edit, but you will no longer be able to visually edit them as templates. [40]
The abuse filter extension has a new feature contains_all that you may use to check if one or more strings are all contained in another given string. [41]

(API) ParserOutput: Add 'deduplicateStyles' post-cache transformation. This transformation will find <style> tag with a "data-mw-deduplicate" attribute. For each value of the attribute, the first instance will be kept as-is, while any subsequent tags with the same value will be replaced by a <link rel="mw-deduplicated-inline-style"> with its href referring to the "data-mw-deduplicate" value using a custom scheme (Task 160563, Gerrit:393284).
(Missbrauchsfilter) Add contains_all and ccnorm_contains_all functions. Added the contains_all function, with basically the same role as contains_any but using logic AND instead of OR. Also added ccnorm_contains_all, that is the same of ccnorm_contains_any but with AND mode (Task 21176, Gerrit:391065).

Welcome to the 300th Weekly Summary!
The weekly newsletter was started by Lydia at the very beginning of the Wikidata project, even before the first deployment, to keep the community informed about the developments, the new projects and tools. More than five years later, the newsletter is still there, its content powered by the community, and sent every week all along the years. I wanted to say a warm "thank you!" to each person who helped filling the Weekly Summary <3
Over the past years, as you know, Wikidata has grown a lot. More data, more tools, more editors and reusers, more exciting projects led by the community. The Weekly Summary has evolved with us, and the 300th edition seems a good moment to ask you all your suggestions about the newsletter, how it could continue evolving, and how you would like to improve it.
On that purpose, you can find a feedback page to express all your ideas about the Weekly Summary. We're very interested to know more about your reading habits, the parts you're more or less interested in, the new topics you would like to share with the community. Thanks in advance for filling it.

Here are a few tools that are recommended by some Wikidata community members. External websites, gadgets or scripts, they are very useful for Wikidata editors or users!
QuickStatements is a powerful tool that can edit or add Wikidata item en masse, via a text editor or importing a spreadsheet. (Éder Porto via Facebook)
Mix'n'match (manual), which helps us to interlink Wikidata with the rest of the web and the world :-) (Spinster, Siobhan via Twitter)
WikiShootMe! allows you to see Wikidata items plotted out on a map and shows you whether they have images or not. (Ham II)
Yair Rand's WikidataInfo script adds the QID of the equivalent Wikidata item to the page being viewed (on sister projects), along with its Wikidata label and description. (Andy Mabbett)
Recoin measures the degree of completeness of relevant properties of a Wikidata item and suggests any relevant statements that can be added to the item. (Rachmat04)
DuplicateReferences gadget adds a link to copy references and add them to other statements on the same item. (PKM)
checkConstraints gadget adds notifications on the interface to easily notice the violation of constraints and help people fixing them (Léa)
Resolve authors lists scientific articles with the property author name string (P2093) and groups them on the basis of co-authors and topic, which helps to distinguish people referred to by identical name strings. (Daniel Mietchen)

The explanation of the abbreviations on the recent changes page could overlap with the list of changes. This has been fixed. [43][44]
You can now see statistics for pageviews per wiki per country. You can see this on maps or in a table. [45]
Problems
Linter is reporting estimated counts instead of actual counts for some wikis. This is because of performance problems. You might notice a false higher number in linter counts for some categories. This will be fixed as soon as the performance problem has been fixed. [46]
Last week the way that Visual Editor displays references lists was changed. As a result, the references generated by specific templates like {{sfn}} are not visible in the references list whilst editing. [47][48]

Checkusers and stewards can now view private data such as the IP address in the abuse log. This data is removed regularly. [50]
Problems
Last week's MediaWiki version was rolled back because of a bug. [51][52]
Since the deployment train last week until late evening on 20 February UTC, when you thanked someone for an edit, the thank went to the latest unthanked edit to that page. It didn't matter which edit you tried to give thanks for. This has been fixed. [53]
Special:Statistics did not take newly created pages into account since 13 February 2018. Because of this the statistics are recreated. [54][55][56]
Changes later this week
Users with version 10 of the Internet Explorer browser will no longer get JavaScript on Wikimedia wikis. If you use this browser on your computer, you can try upgrading to a newer version. [57]

Liebe Mentorinnen und Mentoren,
am 2. Februar d.J. gab ich auf gleichem Wege einen Hinweis auf eine laufende Diskussion zu PR-Konten im Mentorenprogramm und eine hieraus entstandene Abstimmung, deren Terminierung ebenso noch nicht abschließend feststand, wie die letztliche Ausformulierung.
Aus der Diskussion zur Abstimmung war ein reges Für und Wider entnehmbar und der Vorschlag, das Intro unseres Programms zu modifizieren.
Unverändert steht aber letztlich im Raum, Klarheit in der Frage zu gewinnen ob eine überwiegende Mehrheit von zwei Drittel der derzeit stimmberechtigten 68 Mentoren auch künftig PR-Konten (Firmenkonten, PR-Agenturen ...) die Möglichkeit einer Betreuung durch das Mentorenprogramm offen halten möchte oder nicht. Und das unabhängig von der Frage, ob der jeweils einzelne Mentor selbst bereit ist diese Benutzer zu betreuen.

On Special:AbuseLog you can now choose to list only actions that actually made an edit. Other actions are when the filter warned the editor or blocked the edit from being made. There are also more search options. [62][63]
Wikis can enable Citoid to provide automatic reference look-up in the visual editor and the 2017 wikitext editor, but it is complex. The tool will now warn in the JavaScript console if the configuration isn't correct. Soon Citoid will disable itself if the configuration isn't correct. Check that your wiki is configured correctly. Page Previews has been updated to use HTML for previews. This has fixed many issues. An A/B test was done on English and German Wikipedia to measure how it is used. Other changes were also made. [66]
Some edits have to be checked against too many conditions before they can trigger an abuse filter. If that is the reason no filter is triggered the edit will be tagged for review. [67]
Auto-saving has been added to the visual editor and the 2017 wikitext editor. Right now it is meant to help if your browser crashes or if you accidentally close a tab. [68]
Problems
The abuse filter did not tag all edits that should have been tagged after last week's MediaWiki version had come to the wikis. It was fixed on 9 March (UTC). [69]

You can notify users in edit summaries. They will get a ping just as if they had been mentioned on a wiki page. This was originally planned to happen last week. [70]
It is now possible to specify the block parameters for each filter in Special:AbuseFilter. The parameters include block duration and if the user should be blocked from editing their own talk page. The block duration is separate for anonymous and registered users. [71][72]
A hundred Wikimedia wikis will switch to use the Remex parsing library. This is to replace Tidy. It will happen on 13 and 14 March. Other wikis will be recommended to switch soon when they have fixed the errors that must be fixed. Tidy will be removed in the middle of 2018. [73][74][75]

Die 5BN gehören übrigens nicht zur Medizin, sondern zur Biologie. Sie lassen sich in der Medizin anwenden und sind dadurch bekannt geworden, aber es handelt sich bei den 5BN lediglich um Gesetzmäßigkeiten, die Vorgänge bei Lebewesen beschreiben.

In-Context Help and Onboarding is a new project, aiming to improve retention of new wiki editors. The goal is to give them short tutorials and other training experiences based on their activity. Ein Wunsch aus der Umfrage 2015 lautet: „Georeferenzierung direkt in Wikimedia Commons integrieren, sodass per Klick auf eine Karte oder per Angabe von Positionsdaten direkt die Vorlage in eine (oder idealerweise auch mehrere) Dateien eingefügt werden kann.“
Seit Mai 2017 kann das mit dem Locator-tool von Benutzer:Simon04 gemacht werden. Das Tool gibt es bereits seit Mai 2017, kürzlich wurde das Filtern nach Dateien, die bereits georeferenziert sind, verbessert.
@Lómelinde: Der Skriptfehler lautet Die zum Ausführen von Skripten vorgesehene Zeit ist abgelaufen. Es sind keine weiteren Einzelheiten verfügbar. Das Merkwürdige daran ist, dass ohne Änderungen an dem Modul oder den Seiten, welche das Modul verwenden dieser Fehler aufgetreten ist. Dieser Fehler trat bei meinen ersten Versuchen im September 2017 das Modul in Seiten mit >200 einzelnen Abfragen aufzurufen auf, daher hatte ich diese Abfragen auf mehrere Seiten verteilt. Seitdem trat der Laufzeitfehler nicht mehr auf. Könnte etwas an der Parametrierung der Laufzeiten von Modulen in Mediawiki geändert worden sein? Liebe Grüße --Πτολυσϙυε.--..-.-..16:44, 9. Möglich, dass es irgendeine Umstellung gab, denn auch die Radfahrer sind betroffen, auch dort habe ich keinen wirklichen Auslöser gesehen. Kannst du bitte mal bei allen betroffenen Seiten einen wirklichen Nulledit durchführen? Dann sollten die Seiten wieder aus der Kategorie fallen und auch wieder angezeigt werden. Some of the interface icons and text sizes will change slightly, as part of the updates for improved accessibility and consistency. These icons are used in many features, including Notifications, Recent Changes, Beta Features, Visual Editor, 2017 Wikitext Editor, Code Editor, and others. While editor toolbars, dialogs, and menus will appear slightly bigger; elements on special pages will be slightly smaller. Functionality will not change. [79][80]
The deprecated #toc and #toctitle CSS ids have been removed. If your wiki was still using these for fake Tables of Content (ToC) then these might lose their styling. They can be replaced with .toc and .toctitle classes where appropriate. [81]

Tidy will be replaced by RemexHtml on the next set of wikis. On April 4, we plan to turn off Tidy on all Wikiquotes (except frwikiquote) and Wikimedia chapters and user groups wikis. 23 wikis will have Tidy replaced this time. [89][90][91]
AbuseFilter will transition to use OOUI starting April 4, and the rule editor will also be changed to a CodeEditor (ACE) similar to what is found on user JavaScript pages. The move to OOUI will continue over the next few weeks. [92][93]
In Special:Preferences, the preference "Sofern ein Filter geändert wurde, die Beobachtungsliste automatisch neu laden (erfordert JavaScript)" is now only visible for users who have opt-out the New Filters for the Watchlist. [94]
You can see names of individual abuse filters in Special:AbuseLog. Now if the name of an abuse filter contains some wikisyntax like links, it will not change to a link when displayed. [95]

If you're using, creating or improving Lua modules, you can give your feedback to help harmonizing the modules across wikis and add more useful functions.
On April 11th, we plan to turn off Tidy on all wikis with less than 50 entries in all high priority linter categories. About 60 wikis will have Tidy replaced. Currently about 600 wikis have had Tidy replaced and we have another 300 wikis to go. We plan to finish this transition from Tidy to RemexHtml by end of June 2018. Please follow T175706 to monitor progress of Tidy replacement. [97][98]
Several Commons community members are working on ways to integrate Wikidata in Wikimedia Commons. While this is not full-fledged structured data yet, this work helps to prepare for future conversion of data, and helps to understand how Wikidata and Commons can work better together.
We are still welcoming (more) staff from GLAMs (Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums) to become part of our long-term focus group (phabricator task T174134). You will be kept in the loop of the project, and receive regular small surveys and requests for feedback. Tag filter titles will now work better on wikis where the tag filter title is in a language that is written in another direction than the language of that wiki. This could for example be an English title (written from left to right) on a Hebrew or an Arabic wiki (written from right to left). [102]

The bookmark icon for saved filters on the recent changes page disappeared because of new icon changes. This has now been fixed. [103]

Profiling statistics for an abuse filter tell how often edits match the filter. The statistics for the abuse filters were reset after 10000 actions. Wikis can now decide to reset it more or less often. They can file a phabricator task to do so. [106]
Abuse filters will now treat integers and floats more precisely. For example, 5/2 was rounded down to 2 but will now be 2.5 and 2*4 will be the integer 8 and not the floating-point number 8.0. Division values are the only ones changed. For the rest only strict comparisons (=== and !==) will be affected leaving the values unchanged. [107][108]

Grob gesagt ist geplant, diese Funktion standardmäßig an eine Sicherheitsabfrage zu koppeln und aus Listenansichten zu entfernen. Gleichzeitig soll es möglich sein, in den Einstellungen wieder das Verhalten einzuschalten, wie es aktuell ist. Hier ist der Vorschlag ausführlicher beschrieben.
Zu diesem Vorschlag gibt es noch bis zum 4. Mai eine Feedbackrunde. Problems
We are migrating wikis from Tidy to Remex. Because of a bug the 250 wikis which do not yet use Remex were switched on 23 April. This is two months early. This meant that pages with broken wikitext showed wrongly to readers. The bug was undone the next day. You can help fix broken wikitext to avoid this problem when your wiki switches. Tidy will be removed on all wikis before July 2018. You can follow the process on Phabricator. [115]
When an administrator blocks someone they will have a calendar they can use to choose when the block ends. This is to make it easier to pick a specific date. [117]
You can soon turn on the Performance Inspector in the Bearbeiten section in your preferences. It shows information about the performance of pages. This could be the size of modules in the page, how many CSS selectors are defined on the page and how many are used, or the size of the images on the page. This tool is intended to help editors fix pages that load slowly. [118]
There is a new abuse filter function called equals_to_any. You can use it to check if its first argument is equal (===) to any of the following ones. For example you can use it to check if the page's namespace is amongst a given set of values in a more compact way than you could earlier. You can read more on mediawiki.org.

Ich möchte nochmals um Kommentare oder Kritik zu meinem neuen Artikel bitten. Wenn es aus deiner Sicht nichts zu kritisieren gibt, würde ich mich über eine entsprechende Bemerkung ebenfalls freuen.
Deine Kritikpunkte zum gelöschten Artikel vom November (fehlende Neutralität, keine Erwähnung von Kritik, ungeeignete Quellen) habe ich im neuen Artikel berücksichtigt, so gut ich konnte. Wenn etwas fehlt, falsch oder unausgewogen ist, bitte schonungslos mitteilen.
Ich hätte gerne mehr Quellen erwähnt, aber die meisten Veröffentlichungen beschäftigen sich nicht mit den 5BN, sondern nur mit der Neuen Medizin, und um die geht es hier nicht bzw. nur am Rande. Die 5BN treffen rein biologische Aussagen, haben also mit Medizin zunächst nichts zu tun.

Hinsichtlich der Neutralität ist der das Thema im Artikel und die akademische Rezeption m. E. nach wesentlich ausgewogener als in deinem ersten Entwurf dargestellt. Was neben den ausreichend mit Einzelnachweisen belegten Aussagen noch ergänzt werden könnte, sind allgemeine Verweise auf Werke und ggf. Weblinks zum Artikel in weiteren Abschnitten. Ich möchte dir Vorschlagen, vor dem Verschieben in den ANR – um eine erneute Löschdiskussion möglichst präventiv zu lösen – um weitere Meinungen auf WP:RHCK zu beten. Hallo Ptolusque! Danke für deine Verbesserungen am Artikel. Ich halte aber die Kategorie für ungeeignet, da es sich nicht um ein therapeutisches Verfahren handelt. Es geht streng genommen um Biologie, aber natürlich gibt es einen starken medizinischen Bezug. Vielleicht könnte man den Artikel unter „medizinische Theorien“ o.ä. einsortieren. Was meinst du mit WP:RHCK? Ich habe mich umgeschaut und in der Richtung nur Wikipedia:Relevanzcheck gefunden. Meintest du das? Außerdem schlägst du allgemeine Verweise auf Werke und Artikel vor. Am vergangenen Wochenende fand das Treffen der Jungwikipedianer in Hamburg statt. Die Projektseite findet sich unter Wikipedia:Jungwikipedianer/Treffen 2018.
Es laufen aber auch schon die Planungen für unser nächstes Treffen, den Foto-Workshop in Erfurt, der vom 1. bis zum 3. Juni stattfinden wird. Die Projektseite wurde auf Wikipedia:Jungwikipedianer/Foto-Workshop angelegt. Eingeladen sind alle Interessierten unter 25 Jahren, natürlich ganz besonders Jungwikipedianer! Es wird hauptsächlich um Kulturdenkmale gehen und darum, wie man sie fotografiert; es sind auch externe Experten zu diesem Thema eingeladen, die diese Themen ein bisschen erläutern werden. Außerdem werden wir ein bisschen durch Erfurt ziehen und das Gelernte direkt ausprobieren.

(Betafunktion) Die erweiterte Suche hat neue Funktionen bekommen, insbesondere die Suche in Kategorien samt Unterkategorien.
Für Programmierer
(Bearbeitungsfilter) Add equals_to_any function. Introduce a new function which can be used to group multiple comparisons in a single condition. In particular, equals_to_any(S, A, B) is the equivalent of S === A || S === B. This is especially useful in checking for multiple namespaces, as proposed in the Community health initiative (Gerrit:409312).

Recent changes
The Wikimedia Commons mobile app has a new version. It is now easier to find nearby places that need pictures. It helps you with direct uploads and title and category suggestions. The app only works on Android phones. [122]
Problems
The abuse filters had a problem with blocks where you had changed how long they last. It used the default length everywhere. This was in late April. Abuse filter users should make sure the right block length is used and change them if needed. This is only for filters where how long blocks last had been changed. [123]

Ich habe gerade nochmal in meinen Spezial:Benachrichtigungen nachgeschaut, dort findet sich keine Meldung über das Versenden der Pings. (Softwarekonfiguration – Schwesterprojekte) Für die Kartendarstellung wurde für alle Projekte (mit Ausnahme der deutschsprachigen Wikipedia sowie bswiki, huwiki, idwiki, kawiki, plwiki, sqwiki, trwiki und zh_classicalwiki) die Funktion <mapframe> aktiviert. Damit können OpenStreetMap-Karten direkt in Artikel eingebunden werden (Task 191585, Gerrit).
(Softwarekonfiguration) Angemeldete Benutzer können nun maximal 90 Bearbeitungen pro Minute durchführen (Gerrit).

ich finde es schade, dass du mich aus dem Mentorenprogramm entlassen hast, zumal ich nach wie vor stark an einem Wikipedia-Artikel interessiert bin. Von daher wünsche ich eine Wiederaufnahme der Betreuung durch dich (oder einen anderen Mentor).
Die erfolgte Austragung aus dem Mentorenprogramm aufgrund mangelnder Aktivität meinerseits beruht nach meiner Einschätzung auf einem Missverständnis, das ich kurz erläutere:
(1) Nachdem ich am 2. Oktober 2017 den Entwurf eines Artikels zu meiner Person mit der Bitte um Beratung eingereicht hatte, hast du am 3. Oktober 2017 geantwortet: „Ich bin nun dein Mentor und damit persönlicher Ansprechpartner in allen Fragen rund um die Wikipedia.“
(2) Daraufhin reagierte ich auf einen Kommentar von Doc.Heintz, um dessen Vorwurf eines Interessenkonflikts auszuräumen. Am Ende fragte ich: „Wie soll ich nun weiter vorgehen? Es wäre sehr hilfreich, wenn du mir konkrete Verbesserungsvorschläge zu meinem Entwurf machen könntest.“
(3) Da von deiner Seite keine Antwort erfolgte, hakte ich noch einmal nach: „Hallo Ptolusque, ich habe gesehen, dass diese Seite am 9. Oktober 2017 und zuletzt am 21. November bearbeitet wurde. Da du jedoch keine konkreten Verbesserungsvorschläge formuliert hast: Kann der Artikel also so bleiben (vgl. dazu auch meinen Einwurf vom 3. Oktober bzgl. Personenartikel)? Was fehlt nun noch für die Veröffentlichung?“
(4) Die in (2) und (3) formulierten Fragen sind nach meinem Kenntnisstand bis heute nicht beantwortet worden. Da ich dich nicht durch ständiges Nachfragen belästigen wollte, habe ich einfach auf deine Antwort gewartet.
(5) Am 7. Mai 2018 ist dann die Austragung aus dem Mentorenprogramm erfolgt: „Da du momentan keine Aktivität mehr aufweist und dich bei deinem Betreuer seit fünf Monaten nicht mehr gemeldet hast, habe ich dich aus dem Mentorenprogramm entlassen“.
Ich wünsche ausdrücklich die Wiederaufnahme der Betreuung, sei es durch dich oder einen anderen Mentor. Möglicherweise sind mir im Rahmen der Betreuung durch den Mentor Fehler unterlaufen, die mir im Augenblick aber unbekannt sind. Am effektivsten wäre es, wenn du die in (2) und (3) formulierten Fragen beantworten könntest. Die notwendigen Korrekturen am Text würde ich dann zügig ausführen, und der Personenartikel könnte in Kürze veröffentlicht werden.

Hallo Peter Tepe, danke für deine Nachricht. Die Austragung aus dem Mentorenprogramm erfolgte automatisch. Ich hatte deine weitere Anfrage auf deiner Benutzerdiskussionsseite übersehen, dies tut mit leid. Ich habe die automatische Austragung revertiert. Zu deinem Artikelentwurf: Ich habe jenen zunächst der Form halber überarbeitet. Z. B. wird das Inhaltsverzeichnis automatisch erzeugt, innerhalb eines Lemmata sollen schlechterdings nur im Abschnitt Weblinks externe Verweise direkt verwendete werden, die korrekte Form ist die Angabe von Belegen mittels der Verwendung von Einzelnachweisen, das habe ich Beispielhaft im Abschnitt Leben entsprechend umgesetzt. Dies gilt auch für die internen Wikilinks. Zunächst einmal habe ich die Gliederung formatiert und Verweise auf bibliographische Datenbankeinträge, Personendaten und Kategorien ergänzt. Diese sind, da der Artikel im Entwurfsstadium ist, nur als Quelltext sichtbar .Eine bessere Übersicht hierzu findet sich in einem zugehörigen Wikidata-Item, welches ich angelegt habe: Peter Tepe (Q53998174). Ich würde dir empfehlen, dass du dich vor weiteren Bearbeitungen mit Wikipedia:Artikel über lebende Personen vertraut machst und ggf. auch im Allgemeinen Hinweise im Tutorial unter Wikipedia:Tutorial/3 und Wikipedia:Tutorial/4 zum besseren Verständnis ansiehst. Bei einem Text, bei welchem Subjekt und Objekt des Schreibens identisch sind, ist ein Interessenkonflikt gegeben, der einer besonderen Beachtung des neutralen Standpunkts als einer der Grundprinzipien dieser Enzyklopädie bedarf. Bei dem Abschnitt Leben besteht noch hinreichendes Erweiterungspotential. Es sollten in jedem Fall ganze Sätze verwendet werden. Die Werkauswahl erscheint im Verhältnis zum restlichen Artikelinhalt sehr umfangreich, ich verweise in diesem Zusammenhang auf Wikipedia:Literatur#Allgemeines. Ich hoffe das gibt dir, wenn auch verspätet, Ansatzpunkte für eine weitere Überarbeitung. (Schwesterprojekte) Auf allen Schwesterprojekten mit Ausnahme aller Wikipedias können nun globale Benutzereinstellungen (Beispiel Wikimedia Commons) genutzt werden (Task 189806, Gerrit:434368)

Some rare invisible Unicode characters have recently been banned from page titles. This includes soft hyphens (U+00AD) and left-to-right (U+2066) and right-to-left (U+2067) isolate markers. Existing pages with these characters will soon be moved by a script. [133]
There's a new Wikimedia Foundation team to support the Wikimedia technical communities. It's called the Technical Engagement team. Most of the team members did similar work in other teams before this. [134]

You can now use global preferences on most wikis. This means you can set preferences for all wikis at the same time. Before this you had to change them on each individual wiki.
Country geoshape data have been added to Commons and linked to the corresponding Wikidata items. These geoshapes can be used to visualise query results e.g. World map showing population of each country.

The MonoBook skin has been optimised for mobile devices. It now looks different. [143]
Redirect links in Special:WhatLinksHere now link to the original page and not the target page. This was done earlier and changed the used messages on some pages. This was a problem for wikis that customized the message. A new change fixed this by using the old messages with one more parameter for customization. Wikis that already changed their customized messages will have to move the customization back again. [146]

You will not be able to edit some wikis between 06:00 and 06:30 UTC on 13 June. You can see if your wiki is one of them.

Recent changes
In the Wikipedia app for Android or iOS users can create reading lists. The reading lists can be seen on different devices if you are logged in to your account. There is now a browser extension so you can add pages to your reading list from a web browser. At the moment it works with Firefox and Chrome. [150]
There is a new version of Pywikibot. Pywikibot is a tool to automate tasks on MediaWiki wikis. [151]
Problems
The MonoBook skin was changed to make it work better for mobile users. This caused some problems. The change was rolled back to fix them. The new version is now back on the wikis. MonoBook users can opt out from the new responsive design. [152]

Hallo. In der Umfrage Technische Wünsche 2013 wurde eine „Syntaxhervorhebung fürs Editieren eines Artikels im Quelltext” gewünscht.
Seit August 2017 gibt es die „Wikitext-Syntaxhervorhebung“ als Beta-Funktion, seit heute ist die Funktion standardmäßig auf der deutschsprachigen Wikipedia und in vielen anderen Wikis aktiviert.
Die Funktion ergänzt beim derzeitigen Quelltext-Editor und beim neuen Wikitext-Editor (Beta) in der Werkzeugleiste einen Button , mit dem sich die Syntaxhervorhebung an- und ausschalten lässt. Mehr Infos gibt es auf der Seite des Wunsches.
Die Funktion wurde vom ehrenamtlichen Entwickler Pastakhov mit Unterstützung der Wikimedia Foundation umgesetzt. Rückmeldungen, Ideen oder Fragen können auf der Diskussionsseite der Mediawiki-Erweiterung gestellt werden.

(Serverkonfiguration) Die Syntaxhervorhebung für Wikitext im Quelltextmodus wurde für alle freigegeben. Sie kann durch Klick auf das Stiftsymbol (zwischen Icon für Quellenangabe und "Erweitert") ausgeschaltet werden.
(Softwareumstellung) Alle bisher noch nicht umgestellten WMF-Wikis inkl. der deutschsprachigen Wikipedia wurden auf Version 1.32.0-wmf.8 umgestellt.

Future changes
Some old web browsers will not be able to read the Wikimedia wikis. This is because they use an insecure way to connect to them. This means that we get less security for everyone else too. This affects about 0.08% of all traffic to the Wikimedia wikis. This affects for example those who read Wikipedia on a PlayStation 3. [156][157]
The new filters for edit review tools and interface for watchlists will leave beta. Because there is no new MediaWiki version this week it will happen on 25 June for most wikis. For the rest it will happen in early July. [158][159]

When a link text was in italics or had other formatting you could sometimes not edit it in the visual editor. This has now been fixed. [161][162]

Celtic Knot Conference, dedicated to Wikimedia projects and minority languages, July 5-6, in Aberystwyth (Wales). A lot of Wikidata workshops will take place during this event.
The Commons template Wikidata infobox has now passed 1.3 million uses on Commons categories, with plenty more still to come. A new help page gives advice on how to add, extend or improve uses of it, and how to fix data problems.

An dieser Stelle möchte ich mich im Namen des WLE-Orga-Teams und des Teams Ideenförderung von Wikimedia Deutschland ganz herzlich für dein Engagement in der Vorjury zum Fotowettbewerb Wiki Loves Earth 2018 in Deutschland bedanken. Insgesamt haben 44 Vorjurorinnen und Vorjuroren mehr als 137.000 Bewertungen innerhalb der letzten 8 Wochen abgegeben. Damit wurde jedes zur Bewertung stehende Bild mindestens zehnmal bewertet. Die Hauptjury wird sich die besten Fotos nun nochmals anschauen und am kommenden Wochenende auf ihrer Sitzung die besten Bilder des deutschen Wettbewerbs küren. Eine Bekanntgabe dieser wird voraussichtlich bis Ende Juli geschehen.
Dir nochmals herzlichen Dank für deinen Einsatz! Ohne Deinen Einsatz bei der Bewertung der Bilder, wäre dieser Wettbewerb, der Wikimedia Commons dieses Jahr wieder mehr als 24.000 Bilder allein aus Deutschland im Bereich Natur(schutz) beschert und das freie Medienarchiv bekannt gemacht hat, nicht möglich.
Since our last newsletter, the Structured Data team has moved into designing and building prototypes for various features. The use of multilingual captions in the UploadWizard and on the file page has been researched, designed, discussed, and built out for use. Behind the scenes, back-end work on search is taking place and designs are being drawn up for the front-end. There will soon be specifications published for the use of the first Wikidata property on Commons, "Depicts," and a prototype is to be released to go along with that.
The first discussion on copyright and licensing with Commons was held in March. This was a "high level" discussion, there will be a consultation later this summer about the deeper mapping of copyright and licensing in a structured way.
We are still welcoming (more) staff from GLAMs (Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums) to become part of our long-term focus group (phabricator task T174134). You will be kept in the loop of the project, and receive regular small surveys and requests for feedback. Get in touch with Sandra if you're interested - your input in helping to shape this project is highly valued!

When you edit a link in the visual editor there will be two separate buttons to change which page the link goes to (target) or its text (label). [171][172]
On the mobile version you can find a link to an editor's contributions from their user page. Now this will work even if they haven't created a user page. [173]
When you edit a discussion on the mobile version you sometimes get your signature automatically added. This will now not happen if you have already added a signature manually. This is to avoid double signatures. [174]
When you look at Wikimedia code in Gerrit there will be a new interface. It is on by default for new users. This is also true for developers. This is to make it easier to understand what is happening. [176]

Future changes
Today all administrators can edit CSS and JavaScript for the entire wiki. There will be a new user group for editing CSS and JavaScript. Administrators will no longer automatically be able to do this. This is because it is a security risk when all administrator accounts can edit JavaScript even if they never plan to or do not know how it works. You can read more. [177]

In der Umfrage Technische Wünsche 2015, sowie in der entsprechenden internationalen Umfrage im Jahr 2016 wurde gewünscht, manche Benutzereinstellungen nicht mehr lokal für jedes Wiki setzen zu müssen sondern sie global für alle Wikis unter dem Dach der Wikimedia Foundation auf einmal ändern zu können. Diese Funktion wurde nun vom Community Tech-Team der WMF umgesetzt und kann seit gestern Abend genutzt werden. Eine Anleitung zur Nutzung findest du auf der Wunschseite, weitere Informationen gibt es auf der Projektseite. Feedback kann auf der Diskussionsseite des Wunsches gegeben werden.

Bislang konnten Dateien, die lokal in einem Wiki hochgeladen wurden, nur mit Einschränkungen nach Wikimedia Commons verschoben werden. So wurde beispielsweise die Versionsgeschichte der Datei nicht mit nach Commons übernommen. Nun steht hier in der Wikipedia und auf anderen ersten Wikis eine Beta-Funktion bereit, mit der man lokale Dateien genauso wie sie sind, also mit all ihren Versionen und Metadaten, unkompliziert nach Wikimedia Commons exportieren kann, sofern ihre Lizenzen dies zulassen. Die Funktionsweise ist hier ausführlicher beschrieben.

Hallo Mailaender45, auf Neue Artikel wurde dein Artikel Herbstliche Musiktage Bad Urach nicht angezeigt, weil nach der Erstellung des Artikels Orest Alexandrowitsch Jewlachow auf deiner Spielwiese diese nicht gelöscht wurde und du dann den Musiktage-Artikel erstellt hast. Das war der Grund für die Jewlachow-Versionen im Artikel Herbstliche Musiktage Bad Urach, worauf du aufmerksam wurdest. Mein Vereinigen mit der Version auf der Spielwiese, um die nicht passende Jewlachow-Versionen (Weiterleitung und Leeren der Seite) aus dem Artikel Bad Urach zu entfernen, hat dazu geführt, dass der Artikel nicht mehr als neue Seite dir zugeordnet wurde. Ich habe die Jewlachow-Versionen wieder in Bad Urach vereinigt, sodass nun zwar diese beiden Versionen wieder in der Versionsgeschichte angezeigt werden, der Artikel aber auch wieder dir zugeordnet wird: Neue Artikel. Damit das nicht nochmal passiert, ist es wichtig nach dem Verschieben der Seite von der Benutzer-Unterseite dieses über die Vorlage:SLA mit der Begründung Verschieberest sofortigen Löschen zu nominieren. Hallo Mailaender45! Das „BK“ bezog sich nur auf meinen Beitrag hier auf der Diskussionsseite. Wenn zwei oder mehr Bearbeiter eine Seite oder einen Abschnitt gleichzeitig bearbeiten, kommt es zu einem Bearbeitungskonflikt, weil die MediaWiki Software, auf welcher Wikipedia läuft, eine lineare Versionsgeschichte vorsieht. Ich hatte meine Antwort kurz vor deinem Abspeichern deiner Nachricht hier begonnen, aber erst danach versucht zu speichern. Das erzeugt den Bearbeitungskonflikt (BK), der üblicherweise mit „(nach BK)“ gekennzeichnet wird, damit Mitlesende wissen, das der Beitrag vor dem erscheinen des vorherigen Beitrages verfasst wurde. Nachdem es bereits lange lokale und regionale Stammtische in Darmstadt, im Elsass-Express auf der Fahrt von Mainz nach Wissembourg, in Frankfurt am Main, in Mainz und in dem übrigen Rheinhessen, in Mittelhessen, bei der Tour-de-Vin und in Unterfranken sowie in Wiesbaden gibt, hatten verschiedene Personen die Idee einen zentralen Wikipedia-Stammtisch im Rhein-Main-Gebiet zu initiieren. Deshalb findet am 15. September 2018 (Samstag) ab 15:00 Uhr unser erstes Treffen in Rüsselsheim am Main im Rahmen eines rhein-mainischen Stammtischs statt. Wir treffen uns zunächst ab 15:00 Uhr zum Besuch des Stadt- und Industriemuseums Rüsselsheim. Ab 18:00 Uhr lassen wir unseren Stammtisch im Weinhaus Schaab Louis in der Nähe des Bahnhofs Rüsselsheim ausklingen. It's possible to add somevalue and novalue using QuickStatements, and to use the tool on test.wikidata.org as well.
More properties can be searched using haswbstatement. This includes all properties with "external identifier", "string", "item", "property", "lexeme", "form" and "sense" datatypes, except published in (P1433) and cites (P2860). In addition you may make queries without a specified value.
The page creation and edit rate limit imposed in April will be removed in the next days. However, users who are not bots or administrators are throttled to 90 edits per minute (which was set up on all Wikimedia wikis in May).
These new languages are now supported for monolingual text strings: mid, mnw, gmy, rar, haz, uga. The language doesn't show up in the suggester, but you can save the statement and it will be stored properly.

There is a new user right for users who can edit CSS and JavaScript for the entire wiki. Before this all admins could edit CSS and JavaScript. This was a security risk. This group is called interface administrators. Administrators can delete user CSS and JavaScript pages. [204][205]
There will be an A/B test on the Wikipedia mobile website. It starts this week. It tests how we show templates that show information about an article. The test will last two weeks. [206][207]
You can now use different CSS rules for different skins when you edit templates. This is because of TemplateStyles. [208]
You can get a notification when a link is made to a page you created. This has not worked since June. It was fixed last week. [212]

When you added or edited a template with the visual editor the input boxes were very big. This has been fixed. The input boxes will now be smaller until you click on them. Then they will change size to fit the text. [214]

Some diffs showed lines in the wrong order. This was fixed last week. [215]
Marking a cross-wiki notification as read didn't work every time. The other wiki was not updated. This has now been fixed. [216]
<maplink> did not work for a few days. This was because of a bug. This has now been fixed. [217]
{{subst:REVISIONUSER}} is used by some templates. For a period edits saved with {{subst:REVISIONUSER}} would save the previous user's name and not your username. This is now fixed. Edits made before the bug was fixed will still be wrong and need to be corrected. [218]
When you move a page the title still shows the old page name. The developers are working on fixing this. [219]

JWP-intern läuft zur Zeit die Abstimmung für den Artikel des Monats. Schau doch mal vorbei und gib deine Stimme für einen der dort nominierten Artikel ab. Wenn du möchtest, kannst du dort auch einen der von dir erstellten oder stark überarbeiteten Artikel zur Wahl stellen und für ein wenig Konkurenz sorgen.
Außerdem fand seit fast einem halben Jahr kein Bilderwettbewerb mehr statt. Hast du in letzter Zeit ein schönes Foto geschossen? Fühle dich frei, es dort zu präsentieren. Vielleicht erscheint es dann bald auf unserer Hauptseite.

Recent changes
Ordinary pages can no longer be loaded as javascript. You could do this using ?action=raw&ctype=text/javascript in the URL. Only fully protected pages in the MediaWiki: namespace or user javascript subpages can be loaded as javascript now. This is for better security. [225][226]
Problems
New and updated translations from translatewiki.net will not reach the wikis for a while. You can still translate messages on translatewiki.net. The Wikimedia wikis will be updated with the new translations later. This is because of work on the translation system. [227][228]

Hallo Ptolusque, den von dir eingesetzten infiniten Verschiebeschutz im Artikel Exilregierung Deutsches Reich habe ich nach Entsperrwunsch entfernt. Ich vermute, dass Du ih nur versehentlich so eingesetzt hattest. Wenn man zuerst die Schutzstufe und dann die separate Sperroption wählt und erst am Schluss die Sperrdauer eingibt, führt das dazu dazu, dass beim Verschiebeschutz "unbeschränkt" steht, da das der Standardwert ist, wenn mna als Admin keinen auswählt. -- Perrak (Disk) 12:25, 8. Hallo Mailaender45, Glückwunsch zu den beiden neuen Artikeln! Anknüpfend an das, was Perrak schon angemerkt hat, finde ich, dass du nun deine Artikel in den ANR verschieben kannst, ohne vorher nochmal zu fragen. Die wenigen kleinen typographischen Korrekturen und Link-Ergänzungen etc. werden ggf. auch dann von anderen vorgenommen. A new Wikidata game has been created to suggest corrections for some constraints violations. These corrections are learned from the Wikidata edit history.

Probleme
Some pages, edits and users disappeared for a short while after the server switch. Missing content and users was fixed within a day. Some preferences and other things might take a few more days to fix. [231]

Heute ist der letzte mögliche Tag, um bei unserem Bilderwettbewerb Stimmen zu vergeben. Entscheide noch mit, welche beiden Bilder in den nächsten zwei Monaten auf der JWP-Hauptseite präsentiert werden sollen.
(Softwareumstellung) Alle bisher noch nicht umgestellten WMF-Wikis inkl. der deutschsprachigen Wikipedia wurden auf Version 1.32.0-wmf.26 umgestellt.
Für Jedermann
(Softwareneuheit) Weitere Systemnachrichten im MediaWiki-Namensraum, die rohes HTML verarbeiten, können nur noch von Benutzeroberflächenadministratoren bearbeitet werden. Dies betrifft neu Systemnachrichten für die Wikieditor-Toolbar, siehe Liste (Task 200997, Gerrit:456030).
Für Programmierer
(Bearbeitungsfilter) Auch für die Verbieten-Option kann nun eine spezifische Meldung definiert werden. Bisher war dies nur für die Warnen-Option möglich (Task 27086, Gerrit:164987).
A Wikidata workshop will be led by Shani Evenstein, in collaboration with Wikimedia Israel & and the Israel Internet Association, on 18th & 25th of October in Tel Aviv. A new academic course featuring Wikidata opened on October 15th at Tel Aviv University. The elective is called "From Web 2.0 to Web 3.0, from Wikipedia to Wikidata" and it's the 1st for-credit course in the world to focus on Wikidata! The course is available to all undergraduate students at TAU, from all disciplines, and is led by educator & Wikimedian Shani Evenstein.

Der 24. Bilderwettbewerb der JWP ist zu Ende gegangen. Rechts siehst du das aktuelle Bild des Monats November, Αρχαιολογικός Χώρος Κάστρου Πυθαγορείου (KPFC) 17.jpg, fotografiert von Benutzer:KPFC. Es zeigt den Innenraum der alten Burganlage in Pythagoreion, einem heutigen Kloster in Griechenland.
Den zweiten Platz hat das Bild Wenigumstadt Hauptstraße 60 Kapelle (2).jpg von Benutzer:Honischboy belegt, herzlichen Glückwunsch. Der nächste Bilderwettbewerb beginnt am 1. Dezember 2018.

(Beta) Als neue Betafuntion steht der TemplateWizard zum Testen zur Verfügung. Er dient dazu, im Wikitext-Modus formulargesteuert Vorlagen einzusetzen. Nach Aktivierung der Betafunktion erscheint in der 1. Zeile des Wikitexteditors ein Puzzlesymbol für „Eine Vorlage einfügen“.
(Softwareumstellung) Alle bisher noch nicht umgestellten WMF-Wikis inkl. der deutschsprachigen Wikipedia wurden auf Version 1.33.0-wmf.1 umgestellt.
(Softwareneuheit) Mit dem Inhaltsübersetzungswerkzeug übersetzte Seiten, die eine hohe Anzahl ungeprüfter Maschinenübersetzungsausgaben enthalten, werden in eine Wartungskategorie sortiert. Der Name der Kategorie kann über MediaWiki:Cx-unreviewed-translation-category festgelegt werden (Task 190798, Gerrit:461628).

Im Oktober geht die jährliche Umfrage zur Internationalen Wunschliste in die dritte Runde. Ab heute können Projektmitarbeitende aus allen Wikiprojekten Vorschläge einreichen, welche Softwarefunktionen verbessert oder neu entwickelt werden sollen. Dies schließt neben der Software Mediawiki, welche die Wikiprojekte betreibt auch Tools und Gadgets mitein. Die Umfrage wird vom Team Community Tech der Wikimedia Foundation durchgeführt und findet auf Meta statt: 2018 Community Wishlist Survey
Das Projekt basiert auf dem Konzept der deutschsprachigen technischen Wunschliste. Da es voraussichtlich keine neue Umfragen in der deutschen Wikipedia geben wird, empfehlen wir deine Wünsche dort einzureichen. In dieser Meldung geht es um einen fast umgesetzten Wunsch:
Das Team Technische Wünsche hat am 8.11. eine neue Beta-Funktion veröffentlicht, mit der es noch leichter werden soll, Bearbeitungskonflikte zu lösen, beispielsweise durch ein schnelleres Erkennen konfligierender Textpassagen. Die Funktion löst die bisherige Beta-Funktion vom Februar 2017 ab.
Du kannst die Funktion unter Einstellungen > Beta > Zwei-Spalten-Bearbeitungskonflikt aktivieren. Falls du die vorherige Beta-Funktion schon aktiviert hast, wird dir jetzt bei Bearbeitungskonflikten automatisch die neue Oberfläche angezeigt.
In ein paar Monaten soll aus dieser Beta-Funktion die neue Standardoberfläche für Bearbeitungskonflikte werden. Articles where users add a lot of text from machine translation without changing it will be in that category. This is so the community can review it. Jetzt geht es auch ohne Expertise: Über ein Formular, das besonders häufige Suchoptionen enthält, kann man beispielsweise Seiten finden, die eine bestimmte Vorlage enthalten, Seiten ohne bestimmte Wörter und einiges mehr. Auch die Eingrenzung der Suche auf Namensräume ist nun einfacher möglich. So kann man nun etwa schneller gezielt auf Diskussionsseiten oder Hilfeseiten suchen.
Seit November 2017 haben mehr als 3.000 Leute die neue Suchoberfläche als Beta-Funktion getestet, nun ist sie standardmäßig für alle in der deutschsprachigen und in der Farsi, ungarischen und arabischen Wikipedia aktiviert. Vom 7.-9. Dezember findet unser diesjähriges Meetup in Berlin statt. Als Hauptprogrammpunkt wird es diesmal um Wikimedia Commons gehen, um Hochladen und die Bearbeitung von Bildern. Des weiteren wird aber auch die Organisation von Projekten, Unterstützungsmöglichkeiten u.ä. im Vordergrund stehen. Als Jungwikipedianer*in bist auch du herzlich zum Meetup eingeladen. Reise- und Hotelkostenerstattungen wird es im üblichen Rahmen von WMDE geben. Bitte trage dich bis zum 20.11. auf der Anmeldeliste ein.

The Wikimedia wikis use templates to show readers there are problems with the content on some pages. For example if there are no sources or the page needs to be rewritten. The mobile website will soon show more information when you use these templates. Some templates may need to be updated. [247]
The Education Program extension was removed from all Wikimedia projects. The database tables used by the extension will be archived. This will happen in a month. If you want the information on your wiki you should move it to a normal wiki page. [248]
A new tool to display Wikimedia Commons categories (and Wikipedia/Wikidata tags) with coordinates on the OSM map
The Association of Research Libraries published the draft of a Wikidata Task Force White Paper on how libraries and Wikidata/ Wikibase con join forces aroud linked open data for both library discovery systems and Wikipedia, and advancing a diversity and inclusion agenda in the cultures of both libraries and Wikimedia. The draft is open for public comment until 30 November.

On wikis with translatable pages you could create a mess when you moved a page that had translatable subpages. A subpage is when you use / to create a new page: /wiki/Page/Subpage. The subpages would be moved but not the translations. The subpages are no longer automatically be moved. This is to make it safer to move pages. [249]

Special:UnusedCategories show empty categories with no files or other categories. You can soon choose to not show soft redirect categories or some maintenance categories there. You can do this with the magic word__EXPECTUNUSEDCATEGORY__. [251]
The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 27 November. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 28 November. It will be on all wikis from 29 November (calendar).

The Swedish National Heritage Board has started working on a project, related to Structured Data on Commons, that focuses on ways to feed back improved (crowdsourced) metadata to cultural institutions who contribute media files to Wikimedia Commons.

Wenn man in der Vergangenheit zu einer Fußnote gesprungen ist, auf die im Artikel mehrfach verwiesen wurde, und zurück zur vorherigen Leseposition springen wollte, wusste man nicht, welche der hochgestellten Sprungmarken (↑ a b c etc.) man dafür anklicken musste.
Jetzt ist jener Buchstabe fett hervorgehoben, der zurück zur vorherigen Leseposition führt. Außerdem gelangt man nun auch über den Pfeil am Anfang der Fußnote wieder zurück. Dieser war bislang bei mehrfach referenzierten Fußnoten nicht klickbar.
Die neue Funktion steht seit gestern auf allen Wikis zur Verfügung. Aufgrund von Server-Caching werden spätestens am 29. Dezember alle Seiten die oben genannten Änderungen anzeigen. Früher sind sie auf Seiten zu sehen, die bis dahin bearbeitet wurden oder deren Cache bereinigt wurde.

Rechts siehst du das aktuelle Bild des Monats Dezember Wenigumstadt Hauptstraße 60 Kapelle (2).jpg von Jungwikipedianer Benutzer:Honischboy, das beim 24. Bilderwettbewerb der Jungwikipedianer den zweiten Platz belegt hat. Es zeigt die katholische Kapelle Vierzehn Nothelfer im Ortsteil Wenigumstadt des Marktes Großostheim in Unterfranken.
Ab heute können wieder neue Bilder für den Bilderwettbewerb nominiert werden. Die Abstimmungsphase beginnt dann am 7. Dezember.

(Softwareneuheit) Wenn man zu einer Fußnote springt, die im Artikel mehrfach verwendet wird, soll man künftig leichter zurück zur vorherigen Leseposition springen können. Admins will not be able to unblock themselves if they are blocked by someone other than themselves. This is because it can cause damage if someone else takes over an admin account and other admins can't block them. If this is a problem for your community you can report it on Phabricator. You can also ask questions on Meta. There is a discussion on Phabricator about how to solve this if two admins fight with each other on a small wiki. [253]

Structured Data on Commons was the subject of a keynote presentation by Sandra (see slides) at the Baltic Audiovisual Archives Council conference in Tallinn, Estonia, November 2018.
We are currently planning the first GLAM pilot projects that will use structured data on Wikimedia Commons. One project has already started: the Swedish Heritage Board researches and develops a prototype tool to provide improved metadata (translations, data additions...) from Wikimedia Commons back to the source institution. Read the project brief.
The documentation for batch uploads of files to Wikimedia Commons will be improved in 2019, as part of preparing for Structured Data on Wikimedia Commons. To prepare, the GLAM team at the Wikimedia Foundation wants to understand better which types of documentation you already use, and how you like to learn new GLAM-Wiki skills and knowledge. Fill in a short survey to provide input!
We added a Page property for easier programmatic access to the number of Senses and Forms of a Lexeme (phabricator:T199611)

New accounts will need passwords that are at least 8 characters long. Admins, interface admins, bureaucrats, oversighters, CentralNotice admins, global renamers, check users, stewards and some other user groups will need passwords that are at least 10 characters long. This is because an attacker could cause damage to the wikis if they took over these accounts. [258][259]
Wenn man den Mauszeiger über einen Fußnotenmarker fährt, wird die Fußnote in einem kleinen Popup-Fenster angezeigt, damit man nicht zum Ende der Seite wechseln muss, um die Fußnote zu lesen. Aus Sicherheitsgründen ist das Modul requests mindestens in der Version 2.20.0 erforderlich (Task 208296, Gerrit:470841). Diese Anforderung ist nicht restriktiv, Pywikibot mit einer älteren requests-Version läuft vorerst weiter. Es wird aber empfohlen, ein Update dieses Moduls vorzunehmen.
Es wurden neue Generatoren bereitgestellt, die über die Optionen -wantedpages, -wantedcategories, -wantedfiles, -wantedtemplates direkt nutzbar sind (Task 56557, Task 150222, Gerrit:321089)
(Softwareumstellung) Alle bisher noch nicht umgestellten WMF-Wikis inkl. der deutschsprachigen Wikipedia wurden auf Version 1.33.0-wmf.8 umgestellt.
Für Jedermann
(Softwareneuheit – Nur Administratoren) Administratoren, die gesperrt wurden, können den sie sperrenden Administrator nun sperren. Dies sollte vor allem in Wikis mit nur wenigen Administratoren helfen, falls ein Administratorkonto gehackt wurde und der Administrator alle anderen Administratoren sperrt. Durch die Möglichkeit der Rücksperre entsteht ein Patt, so dass dann die Stewards in Ruhe die Lage analysieren können (Task 150826, Gerrit:476080).

(API) Mit dem Hinweis DEPRECATION: Action API uncaught exception error codes wird auf eine Änderung bei API-Fehlermeldungen hingewiesen. Das diesbezügliche Mail ist hier, für Pywikibot wurde Task 210657 geöffnet.

Admins can no longer unblock themselves, except for self-blocks. A blocked admin can block the user who blocked them but no one else. This is so no one can block all admins on a wiki without being stopped. [263]
The ParserMigration extension has been removed. It compared the result of two versions of the MediaWiki wikitext parsing pipeline. It was used when we moved to the Remex parsing library instead of Tidy.
Probleme
<ref> tags can use parameters such as "name" or "group". For example <ref name="adams" group="books">. If a <ref> tag has more than two parameters all parameters are ignored. You don't get a warning that they don't work. This will soon be fixed. [264]

The Wikimedia Foundation Android app team are working on making it easier to edit on mobile phones. You can read more about these plans. If you have an Android phone and speak at least two languages you can help testing in English. Tell Dchen (WMF) you want to be part of the testing by writing on her talk page or email her.
tiles.wmflabs.org and wma.wmflabs.org will stop working. They have no maintainers and run an old operating system. Tools which use it could stop working. This includes the mapnik gadget, hill shading, and hike and bike layers. New maintainers could help out and keep it going. [265]
Call for contribution for the WikiWorkshop, forum bringing together researchers exploring all aspects of the Wikimedia projects, held in May 2019 in San Francisco, is now open until January 31st
Scholia's "missing" pages (example) now link to the new Author Disambiguator tool, and a Listeria list is available to help prioritize co-author disambiguation for authors with sitelinks.

Nachdem sich im Dezember keiner gefunden hat, um Bilder für den Bilderwettbewerb zu nominieren, bietet sich im neuen Monat eine neue Chance. Hast du in letzter Zeit zur Bebilderung der Wikipedia beigetragen? Nominiere eines deiner Bilder doch zwischen dem 1. und dem 6. Januar 2019 zur Abstimmung für den Bilderwettbewerb, sodass es demnächst auf unserer Hauptseite präsentiert werden kann.
Gleiches gilt auch für den Artikel des Monats. Fühle dich frei, einen Artikel dort zur Wahl zu stellen. Sowohl hier als auch für den Bilderwettbewerb gilt: Je mehr nominierte Artikel oder Bilder, desto besser.
Da die wikipediainternen Aktivitäten hier weitgehend zum Erliegen gekommen sind, soll an dieser Stelle nochmal auf weitere JWP-interne Projekte verwiesen werden. In der Artikelwerkstatt kannst du eigene Artikelentwürfe präsentieren und dich beim Fertig stellen unterstützen lassen. Im Review kannst du eigene Artikel einstellen und von einer größeren Gruppe an Jungwikipedianern überarbeiten lassen.
Der frühere Jungwikipedianer Kenny McFly hat vor etwas mehr als zwei Wochen eine E-Mail rundgeschickt und nach eurer Meinung bezüglich möglicher Verbesserungsvorschläge innerhalb der Jungwikipedianercommunity gefragt. Um ein möglichst rundes Bild von der Lage zu bekommen und alle Meinungen mit einzubeziehen wäre es hilfreich, wenn alle Jungwikipedianer, die diese E-Mail erhalten haben, diese auch beantworten würden. Jungwikipedianer, die diese E-Mail nicht erhalten haben, können Kenny McFly über die Mailadresse kenneth[punkt]wehr[at]wikipedia[punkt]de auch persönlich anschreiben.
Zuletzt wäre es hilfreich, wenn alle Jungwikipedianer alle JWP-internen Seiten auf ihre Beobachtungslisten setzen, um immer über aktuelle Änderungen informiert werden.
