Queens adalah borough terbesar menurut luas, terbesar kedua menurut jumlah penduduk, dan borough paling timur dari lima borough di New York City. Borough ini berdiri bersama dengan Queens County, sebuah pembagian administratif negara bagian New York di Amerika Serikat.

Queens didirikan tahun 1683 sebagai satu dari 12 county asli New York dan diberi nama sesuai permaisuri Catherine dari Braganza (1638-1705), putri Portugis yang menikahi Raja Charles II dari Inggris pada 1662.^[6]^[7]

Borough ini dianggap sebagai salah satu borough pinggiran kota New York City. Permukiman di timur Queens memiliki suasana yang sama seperti pinggiran kota yang berbatasan dengannya di barat Nassau County.
